  1. How about turning spren in a reflective Shardbow? With Shardplate and Stormlight in your veins you can draw the bow with very big force; let's just make huge arrows, possibly with augmenting fabrials. Arrow shot with so much force could probably pierce Shardplate, so it doesn't have to be Shardarrow. It's like shooting a ballista.
  2. Distribution of forces is irrelevant. Friction is about surfaces going against each other and how smooth they are, force you use is just a factor. If you have a infinitely smooth surface, then friction factor drop to zero and there is no friction, no matter the force. With Pushing there is nothing touching the coin, so no friction.
  3. I believe your bronze has to be doubled. Like Vin.
  4. I think he meant Compounding nicrosil.
  5. I can't remember such thing. I think it was always Lashed to a direction (as far as we're talking about Basic Lashing). You basically tell the object that now down is somehere else.
  6. Well, copper+bronze seems useless. But nobody said you have to use both at the same time.
  7. One of the most obvious examples of complementing metals are Iron/Steel and Zinc/Brass. Misting able to both Ironpull and Steelpush and Misting able to both Riot/Soothe are far more 'complete'. I can't put it into words, but I hope you understant what I mean. The metals are most efficient when used in pairs.
  8. How wiping other's reserves of metal (chromium) is of Preservation? How seeking Investiture is of Preservation? How seeing your alternate past is of Preservation? The thing is, there is no such connection. Some Shards may seem compatible, but that's all. My point is that the only reason we're assigning Shards to metals is just because Preservation happens to have 16 as his number. If Honor did have 16 instead of 10, we would be trying to line up Shard's with Surges and which Shard would be linked to Tension? Which to Abrasion?
  9. Well, in fact the friction is about surfaces moving against each other. So if you held a coin between two frictionless objects, no matter the forces you exert on them, the coin will fall. So since allomantic external physical forces are basically telekinesis and there is no touch... There cannot be friction. But I'm willing to ignore that
  10. Yeah, but he felt what happened to him before fainting and he definitely felt everything when he woke up with serious injuries. He even lists all the wounds he received. But guys, the part of "this death is worse than another" is just a post-scriptum, could we discuss more important issues which I pointed out in my previous post? Here:
  11. It's like they don't understand what's the concept of doing things by themselves. Like reading books or watching films or playing games instead of having them told about.
  12. Well, first of all Shards on Scadrial would probably get their own metal, just like Ruin's got atium. Furthermore, connection of Honor with pewter based on Stormlight properties is flawed, since Stormlight is just part of Roshar, Surgebinding is more of Honor (but connection is still not quite there - how Pushing or Pulling on metals is of Preservation?). The Intent would play a role, not Shard's magic. I imagine Endowment would be nicrosil. But another problem is why we are focusing on the role played in Allomancy? Why not Feruchemy? There are 16 allomantic metals only because Preservation's number is 16 (like Honor's is 10) and that's the connection to Sixteen Shards of Adonalsium.
  13. On the other hand, Dominion is about controlling and having power over someone, while Autonomy is about freedom and being independent. Okay, how about quadrant like this?: Endowment Avarice Autonomy Dominion They may not be as neatly connected as I did with Preservation, Ruin, Endowment and Stagnation, but bear with me. Endowment is about giving to somebody, gifting. Avarice would be about taking from somebody, maybe stealing (but Theft doesn't work as Shard's Intent. Maybe Jealousy or Greed or Envy) Autonomy is about being indepedent, not needing anything from anybody, doing by yourself. Dominion is about controlling, having power over something, making them depend on you.
  14. Sorry, I couldn't resist I imagine that the case would be when Endowment tasks the Returned with something very, very important and he dies before accomplishing it. So he is sent back to fulfill his mission. I am curious what would happen if a Sliver were to be Returned. Like if one of the original Shardholders (because they're from Yolen and seem compatible with all of Shardmagic) died and Endowment Returned him/her.
  15. The faces belong to Heralds:http://coppermind.net/wiki/Ten_Essences
  16. We should try those metals of double feruchemical usefulness. Iron is useful both while tapping and storing, while steel or zinc are useless when storing.
  17. Thanks! Those in italics are my ideas. Improvement/ Destruction Static Preservation Stagnation Dynamic Cultivation Ruin No idea for classification here: Devotion Odium Honor Contempt And those pairs are not necessarily connected: Dominion - Autonomy Endowment - Avarice
  18. Well, to be exact, it's not that Mistborn or full Feruchemist are impossible. It's just a chance to be born one under normal circumstances is so low that it's not even worth considering. If Fullborn is possible to be born due to interbreeding Allomantic and Feruchemical bloodlines, then the chance for it may be so low that it's practically impossible. Remember, Mistborn were already rare in pure noble lines (for example, Straff with his dozens of children). And Vin killed some of them, so they didn't have kids to pass their genes to. Now that Allomantic and Feruchemical genes are interfering...I imagine that "dilution of blood" is not blood getting weaker, it's just because A-genes and F-genes are repressing each other, while raising the amount of Investiture, hence more Metalborn, but no Mistborn nor full feruchemists, not to mention Fullborn.
  19. I'd go for Dominion - Autonomy pair, as far as we are talking about opposites.
  20. In Era 1, there were Mistborn and Mistings, while in regard to Feruchemy, there were only full Feruchemists. So Allomancy was already diluted, while Feruchemy weren't. I imagine there could be some full Feruchemists still.
  21. Well, it is not exactly this way. What Rashek did was to transform them into beings which are immortal (or have extremely long lifespan, since First Generation didn't look that healthy). It was not granting immortality in a wrong way; immortality came as a consequences of what they became, not the other way around. On the other hand, we've seen immortal humans with perfectly human bodies - but with vast amount of Breaths.
  22. Hemalurgy was designed as system crossing all of the magic systems, so almost everything is stealable. The catch is (apart form atium spike) that we don't know what spikes to use (if metal works, then which one should be used? If not, maybe gemspikes?) and if the body focuses are the same.
  23. I really like the theory that they're living off Stormlight - that would explain why animals grow gems inside their bodies.
  24. Yeah, just like Pushing/Pulling metals in Allomancy - they're similar yet different. Improvement/ Destruction Static Preservation ...IDK (Regress? Things stay unchanged, but it's bad) Dynamic Cultivation Ruin For lack of a better word, I dubbed it "Improvement/Destruction", but it doesn't fit good enough, I think.
  25. Yeah, but at least quick. Being killed by highstorm...? Winds tearing of your skin, flying rocks breaking your bones etc etc. We don't know if somebody killed with Shardblade would even feel the pain, because maybe he would be dead before pain came.
