  1. probably Mr T hasn't told them everything, they don't need to know Diagram's views on kingship and such, but when you're sending a field agent you can tell them what's important to look for. For example, he would tell everybody to remember what dying person says right before death. Looking for 'those who survived' is also important. ...Wait, how did Taravangian come up with "Favored of the winds"? If he thought that this Surgebinder had access to Regrowth, should he think about Edgedancers or Truthwatchers instead of Windrunners or Skybreakers?
  2. Sazed stated that only bronze can be stored while sleeping. I suspect TLR figured out how to fill others as well.
  3. Well, in Polish there is no term for pewter. So the translation is, literally 'tin with lead'. And pewtermind is tinleadmind. In Polish it's not uncommon to link words like that, so it's not the issue. All of sprens translate similarly, no issue with somethingspren. But "Cryptics" became "Riddlers". Also, the first book set on Scadrial is named 'Mistborn'. Not 'The Final Empire', but 'Mistborn'. And for some reason translator instead of inventing a new word which would translate to 'Mistborn', went with something like 'From Mist Born' or rather 'Of Mist Born'. In the text, it's commonly shortened to 'Born'. I got used to it... Ruin became 'Destruction' in spite of us having the word "ruina"! No idea why. Also, we do not have a word for bendalloy, so it's left untranslated. Stormlight is 'Storming Light' or maybe 'Stormy Light'. Adjective Noun phrase. No issue with that, though. A lot of these two-words-mixed-into-one which Brandon loves got separated. Binding the Surgers. Binding the Void. Singers of Dawn. Smiths of Bonds. Dancers of the Edge. Shapers of Will. Those who See the Truth, but without all that "those who", much like a Seer, but it's another word. Blade of Shard, Plate of Shard, 'Shard' dumped when shortened version. Maybe something like Shard's Blade and Shard's Plate? Also, we don't have "of", so these are all two words phrases. Sometimes part of the word is dumped, and because it's nearly impossible to translate them, like Elsecallers - we got something like Relocaters.Like with Voiders and Dusters, ommiting the 'bringer' part. Windrunners became... Windyers? It's a word derived from adjective of 'wind', much like dancer is somebody who dances and caller somebody who calls. And similarly Skybreakers became "Heavenly" or "Divine". So the "-runner" and "-breaker" is lost in translation. Soulcasters became "Soulers" and Soulcasting "Souling". Shadesmare translates perfectly. Also, 'Truthless' is kinda hard to translate, so we got 'Liar'.
  4. Welcome to the 17th Shard! Do you want a cookie? I know that the icing makes it look metallic, but it's really good!
  5. I updated the main post with quotes.
  6. I were comparing some epigraphs from my book with the original ones in English, when I spotted something in Taravangian's Interlude. The one when Szeth comes to him to tell him about Kaladin. Mr T. is scared that Szeth will break and turn on him, so he tells Szeth that it must have been somebody with a Honorblade. Two things: So Diagram knew about Skybreakers (not surprising), about Helaran and about Shallan being a Surgebinder... But what made him think that Helaran was a Surgebinder? Or maybe he really was? But at that point in the book Kaladin already got out of the chasms, so Graves was introduced to Kaladin long ago and Kaladin already broke his bond by deciding to help him. He even told them that he agrees with them. Is this Interlude anachronical? I doubt it, since Szeth was given an order and went to fulfill it. If it happened earlier he would also had come earlier to kill Dalinar, not in the middle of battle between Voidbringers and Alethi, with two Highstorms colliding. I'm sure he would pick a time when the armies were marching, maybe some time when Dalinar went scouting with a smaller squad of soldiers or something. If this Interlude happened chronically, then why Graves haven't reported to Taravangian about Kaladin? Even if Moash didn't tell him about Kaladin being Surgebinder, Graves would be able to put two and two together (since there is a passage in Diagram about looking for those who survived when they shouldn't). He must have heard stories about the Stormblessed, who survived a Highstorm and bridgeruns (statistically, Bridge Four had a higher survival rate than others), so of all people somebody familiar with Diagram would realise what's going on.
  7. What does it matter? she thought. I know the Lord Ruler's secret, but what does it tell me? That he was a packman? A servant? A Terrisman? A goat.
  8. Be Ridiculous Even At The Hemalurgy BLUE FIRE
  9. Since Nightblood cannot wield himself, I doubt he can even be considered swordsman
  10. In case he does not to recognize that metal is burning... Well, you put the Seeker outside the range of the Coppercloud and put another Allomancer (not Coppercloud, obviously) inside the range of the Coppercloud. Then the Seeker can feel: one source of pulses => kid is not an Allomancer two sources of pulses => kid is an Allomancer nothing at all => kid is a Coppercloud
  11. I thought more like joining Dark Alley, since I already got somebody to accept my spike cookie. Any thoughts on my theory?
  12. But filling a bronze metalmind makes you sleepy. So you sacrifice some of your wakefullness and effectively get sleepy and yawning. So if you're sleeping, you also sacrifice some of wakefullness, effectively sleeping deeper. Better way to explain this: lets assume two attributes on the opposite sides of an axis, Wakefullness and Sleepness. Storing bronze pushes you from the state you're in towards Sleepness, storing the difference between your natural state and your actual state in bronzemind. Tapping it pushes you towards Wakefullness the same amount of units that you stored. So if you're sleeping, you get the same rest that you'd normally get, but you're effectively sleeping deeper, which gives an immunity to distractions. So I was partially wrong about cutting sleeping time, but it doesn't mean that I would sleep less restfully. Hm, but if we assume another model of Feruchemy, then you're right and I am completely wrong about the rest gained. Is there some topic about Bronze Feruchemy? Is there some WoB on feruchemical bronze? Edit: Voidus, I got a newcomer accept my cookie. Can I join Dark Alley?
  13. Allomantic brass and feruchemical bronze. Allomantic brass, because I really don't like people going Everstorm over the smallest details; also Soothing in general is useful. Feruchemical bronze is one of those 'double gain' feruchemical abilities (like with iron, both storing and tapping gives you an ability, while storing zinc makes you an idiot, therefore it's 'one gain' ability). For starters, you can fill it while sleeping. That's awesome in and of itself. You don't need additional time to replenish your reserves. It's replenished daily. Furthermore, if you fill it during sleeping, you achieve a deeper sleep, which may: let you rest better, so you can cut sleep time without health consequences. Or you can sleep the normal amount of time and be better rested. let you sleep even when there is some noise, or bright light or something - you can sleep whenever and wherever you want. No more waking up to accidental noises! You can sleep even when there is a party behind the wall. Now, you can tap it to learn all the night and you don't need coffee. Or you can party all night without the need of sleep lurking somewhere in your head. You're fresh all that time. What else? No more slow waking up - you hear your alarm, you open your eyes and you tap bronze. Coffee? Who needs that?! If you start falling asleep in the class (for me it is a true curse) you just start tapping bronze. Feruchemical bronze is a-w-e-s-o-m-e!
  14. I think something along the lines of limited shapeshifting - halfkandra is bound to his skeleton and body, but may alter it a bit. Like changing his face, maybe some manipulation of the muscles, maybe they can even alter their bones so they could have additional joints, but generally that's it. They cannot alter the bones, since even kandra cannot. Muscle manipulation is all they can do.
  15. In the Prelude to Stormlight Archive it's stated that 'these Blades had power exceeding even Shardblades'. But I think it's referring the fact that Honorblades grant Surgebinding on its own and no restriction with being bound with oaths (but it doesn't change much for Heralds, since they're like Ideals personified...or are they?), while Shardblades on its own doesn't grant Surgebinding, it's the Surgebinder who has access both to the Surges and the Blade. On the other hand, a full Radiant gains also Shardplate and is more efficient with use of Stormlight. There is no evidence for Heralds having Shardplate... and man, it would be so usefull for them, with all these slaying dark gods, fighting beasts of living stone, opponents literally shooting lightnings and Almighty knows what else...
  16. I supply with mentioned polish covers.
  17. I will, but I'm waiting for a reprint - here in Poland right now we have a rerun of Mistborn books due to Stormlight Archive being a hit (and beacuse anything cosmere apart from SA and AoL was impossible to buy, even with libraries I had to do some insane searching). In June was the first one, in August WoA and in October HoA. I am awaiting for Alloy of Law in January and Shadows Of Self in March. I heard that Elantris will get a reprint next year, this time the enhanced edition and with Emperor's Soul. It's a good time to be Sanderson fan These are covers for the first four Mistborn books: and this is for the Shadows of Self: Awesome, right?
  18. I updated the main post with the WoB I found about god metal alloys. Thanks! Looking forward to your thoughts on this. Do I have to sign something? Can I get two copperminds? Do you want a cookie?
  19. In terms of pure power levels and stormlight efficiency Radiant could have an upper hand, but Heralds have literally thousands of years of expierience and it's not impossible that they can have other powers. Question about this and Heralds being native to Roshar were RAFO'd.
  20. Not feeling pain is not necessarily connected to savantism - you don't feel pain because after being burned alive, skinned, blown up, beheaded, headshoted and many other things you just get used to it.
  21. It seems that there could be double godmetal alloys... http://www.theoryland.com/intvmain.php?i=692#28
  22. But since lerasium just adds up 'Preservation' in one's Spiritual self (it makes Mistborn as a side-effect, it's not just some magical metal which turns on Allomancy), I strongly believe its alloys just filter the essence of Preservation through this metal while adding it up. So Tineye who burned lerasium-pewter would be able to burn both tin and pewter.
  23. Perhaps I used the term "white noise" wrong. But what I meant is that Coppercloud generates a masking field imitating background noise. Maybe copper picks up on the area's Cognitive pattern and replicates it, covering allomantic pulses? And when you pierce Coppercloud, allomantic pulse is still there. I am not an expert in the fields of transmission and acustic, but depending on modulation on the signal maybe it's possible to generate one complementing signal to flatten them all out? Is there any quote or WoB on pulses emitted by person burning more than one metal? This could help.
  24. I always thought that copper generates white-noise which is indistinguishable from normal background pulses. Everything generates some kind of sound (in nature - wind moving leaves, chirping of the birds, buzzing of flies and so on; in the city, humans talking to each other, moving cars etc), but bronze filters only these which are stronger than these background noises (since everything on Scadrial is part Preservation, part Ruin, it would also generate some pulse, but very, very weak. Aluminium may be an exception). So bronze picks up on what we call Invested, which means it contains an order of magnitude more Investiture than normal objects. Another possiblity is that copper just generates some very strong noise, but in ultrasounds, so they are not audible. But that is in contrary with theory that you can modify bronze pulses to imitiate other pulses.
  25. Granted. It's too cold for you indoors to live. I wish I could learn and understand things 5 times faster.
