  1. And thread divine beings would be administrators, and server host would be the Creator or something.
  2. A little offtop, but do we even know why was Marsh so special to Ruin? I don't believe Ruin picked him out because Vin would be more hesitant to kill him - it was stated that Ruin doesn't grasp concepts such as love anymore.
  3. Kingkiller Chronicles. Sympathy fits really well with the rest of the magic systems and Naming obviously lets the Namer take control of Spiritual Aspect of a thing by controlling it through Cognitive, with the effect taking place in Physical. Sympathy also requires hardcore Cognitive manipulation, so much that it links the objects Physically. Alef would be the Shard who Named everything, and I believe that his angels (with Tehlu as the first of them) were given a Splinter of it (like Returned, but with much more power). Can't figure out the War of Creation and Chandrians, but it's because we don't know much about them. P.S. Spike Kvothe or Elxa Dal with double Brass (and probably double zinc or Blessing of Presence to be able to create more links) and watch them destroy all of the Voidbringers.
  4. I think I have seen a WoB that Vasher is very capable fighter, but not as good as for example Denth. His skills may have rusted during the time when his strategy was to throw Nightblood at people, but when he lost... him/it(?), he brushed up his skills again. So he is a extraordinary swordman.
  5. Ouch. I've visited Auschwitz, it truly is horrible. Of course, not only Hitler did inhuman things. There's also Stalin, who - among many things - tried to starve to death a whole nation. Nice "take that, humanity", Kobold . Upvote. From story-telling point of view, I have yet to find why mages in my story, who lived in almost any time period didn't stop massacres, wars, genocides... I can't sell this whole "No interference with normal people" rule, because nobody who knew what was going on in concentration camps would have restrained himself from interfering. Of course, back then people lacked this specific way of thinking required to build complex spells (you basically have to think in programming language of sorts), but they still could easily take on everything short of small army.
  6. The Young Bard, navybrandt, can I... borrow... that image? I want to post it on the polish site of Sanderson works. I would translate it, and of course I would credit you both.
  7. I suggest reading my theory on Three Metallic Arts. I tackled on some points touched here.
  8. Suspension of belief, people! We have it easy, we just have to accept the existence of Adonalsium and its Shards, everything else is just a consequence.
  9. I am not saying they're bad comparison. I'm saying that focusing on things like whether Elantrians are fireproof or not is not important; we should approach the topic from Realmatical point of view (to assess godhood based on what we know) and from in-universe point of view (to assess godhood from a point of view of people interacting with them). So Heralds are humans (probably), they may be Rosharan (if they're pre-Shattering humans it would be important or if they were from another Shardworld this could give them mixed Investiture), they're possessing Honorblades which are imbued with Honor's (maybe Cultivation had a hand in them? We don't know, they could even be Splinters) power, which are giving them Surgebinding abilities. Apart from that for them death means being transported to another planet where they cannot die, or die repeteadly. So either they can reincarnate or they're reconstructed on Braize. We don't know their physical abilities, we have seen only Taln (and we're not sure about his being Herald) and he did possess superhuman reflexes, but maybe it was just loooong training (ten thousand years of 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats and 10km running daily. Catch the reference ) and he seemed to react to Stormlight, but he may have just seen what Shallan was doing. On the other hand, Nalan was able to sense Lift getting Invested with Stormlight when she metabolized food into it, and at that time he wasn't looking at her. We don't know much and what I listed above gives little understanding of what they are, Realmatically but they do score quite high on the power list. While Rashek is top of the list (we don't include Shards), Heralds definitely beat one on one Knights Radiant, Mistborn without or with limited supply of atium, average Awakeners (I want to see a battle between Awakeners). We don't know extent of Elantrian powers, but AonDor has very much potential. From point of view of average person in cosmere, they're chosen ones of Almighty to help, teach, lead and protect humanity against evil Voidbringers during recurring Apocalypses, they're the first Surgebinders, they represent symmetry (5 men and 5 women, some symmetrical names). That's some serious theological material for divine beings. BTW, what do we know of Elantrians Realmatically? Why do they change to look like this? How their spiritweb looks like? Was this discussed somewhere?
  10. Yeah, but we're discussing teological point of view. Nobody's making comparisons about extent of their powers, only how they're viewed by people and why. As I stated before, they are the ones chosen by Almighty to lead humanity against forces of evil. They also tend to return every time the end of the world comes, so they're immortal (people rather don't know about 'being tortured in hell' part, but I think they're reconstructed on Braize). If that's not material for religion, I don't know what is.
  11. Brrr. I call for honorary membership of Dark Alley. 'Yeah, I established a bond with another sapient being, we're connected mentally and spiritually and now I will just break my oaths which represent me, the way I live and the way I choose to live, just to eat and burn its corpse because I want to find out what happens...' - some jerkass Mistborn Knight Radiant
  12. https://scontent-waw1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xlp1/v/t1.0-9/12390975_10153741077522332_6137489599480278637_n.png?oh=0ac130d1cdbad2e6c39c6d663abd3182&oe=57054806 I'm near the center of the map (really, a little south of the center of the map. Country's Poland), right now it's 12°C and I remember that winters used to be cold few years ago. Like -3°C cold, at least. And we would call it a mild winter. Now the temperature is as if it was the start-to-middle autumn. No signs of snow (we had a little few weeks ago, but it doesn''t count). Where's my snow?! 12°C in December is unheard of. I have no problem with taking out the thrash around the noon only in T-Shirt, while I should need to put on my wintercoat. I need some negative temperatures right now °C °C
  13. Well, demystification leads ultimately to "it's because we have a bunch of 1/16 parts of force of creation sitting on the planet".
  14. The Way Of Kings hit me really hard, it was like a bolt from the clear sky; I haven't felt about a book since "The Name of The Wind", truth be told. Then I hunted the rest of the books and Elantris did differ very much. By no means it was a bad book, but it wasn't so overwhelming. Of course, in 8 months we're getting a version 2, new translation, this time of 10th Anniversary Elantris, so I expect it to be more polished. So my current strategy is to throw The Way of Kings at people, hook them, proceed with Warbreaker before finishing them with Words of Radiance. Then I switch style and rapidly attack with three Mistborns (soon the number will go up to 6 Mistborns) and leave them beaten. I have to yet test it, but we're getting like 5-6 Sanderson books this year (AoL reprint, SoS, BoM, Elantris 10th, Emperor's Soul and then the plan was the Oathbringer, but I suspect they will have to switch it with Warbreaker reprint). Edit: (15/08/2016) I have no idea what this post have to do with cosmere reading order. Perhaps it's misplaced? Maybe I messed up the tabs and wrote it in the wrong thread? I think I won't find out.
  15. btw, why do Allomancers burn the metals specifically in stomach? Could they burn it while swallowing? Or if it went to instestine already? Did somebody ask Brandon this?
  16. I just started watching One Punch Man and it's awesome!
  17. I'm afraid that the connections between Shards map out as in hypercube (tesserakt).
  18. They're kind of like mythological heroes who got deified. They had supernatural abilities and were favored by gods and then were worshipped as divine beings.
  19. I favour the theory that Steelpushing/Ironpulling conserve momentum, so both mass and speed is factored in. If we have person A shooting and Coinshot B, and A and B have the same mass, and Coinshot Pushes hard enough to stop the bullet completely, then he will be thrown back as far as person A while shooting. I guess I could figure out general formula, but not right know; factors would be Force of The push (I believe it's another formula depending on the burn rate and allomantic strenght), mass of the bullet, mass of the Coinshot, mass of the shooter, speed of the bullet. If any person is moving, then his speed is also important. Good thing allomancy is basically vector physics
  20. It would be nice to have a system which filters out all the books you haven't read yet, but that would require for example tagging every topic correctly. I guess I will go dark when the SoS spoiler warning period will end, since I won't be able to read that until March
  21. Watch out, in a few days I will post a theory on Feruchemy, I believe it will make clear what I mean: storing doesn't miraculously make you able to get more oxygen from air - it takes part of what you already have assimiliated, so that's why you need to breath more frequently to balance this - hence the need to hyperventilate.
  22. If you're dead, there is no point in torturing you - and Kalak mentions feeling the tortures, so he must had been alive during it.
  23. ... Shouldn't it be in SoS spoiler board?
  24. Since Sazed's original body is still somewhere, couldn't he separate a part of his consciousness and implant it into his body? With link to his Shardmind? ... Oh my God. That would be basically creating a Messaiah.
  25. Granted. The sock's primary ability is to make your legs stink very, very bad. I just saw this and can't stop laughing! I wish we would do more Nightwatcher-like curses without rendering the wish completely useless.
