That was in the first anime, which is partially adaptation of manga (early on), spoilers and then original plot. In that version the world was connected to Earth indeed. FMA:Brotherhood is direct adaptation and there is no connection to Earth at all.

make what you will of it (Game)

Once they were here, now they belong to a whole different world. Sleep cycles are like Willshapers. EDIT: Ninja'd by Stormgate Seriously, at 6:33 AM? Ninja'd that early/late? C'mon. Feel free to ignore my comment. -
You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
Oversleep replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Hm. Non-christians, rather. I guess. I do not know the differences between mormons and the rest of Christianity. (I am Catholic myself). You are definitely a Sanderfan when you sit down with your translated copy of Words Of Radiance and you get to codebreaking the Diagram. And when you start to suspect that at some point the translator messed up. If I got the word "Radiants", then I suppose I am doing it right. But then the rest doesn't match up. -
Yeah, storing actual energy would be a lot easier. You just have to remember consequences. For example, storing in free-fall will reduce the speed. If you store all of the kinetical energy, that would mean you don't fall while gravity is still working. You could think 'wait, if he's not falling, he has no speed and thus no kinetic energy, so what is he storing?'. Well, he has no kinetic energy because he stores all of it. So the effect is like "there should be more energy than there actually is" kind of situations when storing. Your magic would be about energy getting put in situation but somehow disappearing in mage's storage. Your characters would have to be careful with that - imagine being in a train going 100km/h. If your characters stores 5% of that kinetic energy, that means he goes now only 95km/h. So, relative to the train, he moves back 139cm per second. He is gonna get pulled back. It would be like running at 5km/h straight into the wall at the time of impact and then getting crushed into the wall (can't tell how hard, too lazy to do the math right now). If he tried to store half of his kinetic energy, then... splat. I suggest not operating with percents (since there is a difference between storing half of kinetic energy while going 1km/h and 100km/h) and instead using some units. Or maybe putting some reminder that storing half of this is possible, but half of this isn't, because it's too much for mage's abilities? Another important thing - mages can only augment (using magic) and decrease (storing magic) existing energy. You can't run forward and use kinetic energy in opposite direction. You can only use that to be pulled forward. At high enough energy usage you turn into cannonball.

I always thought that when storing steel you just slow down. The ability to sense passage of time would be unaffected. Reflexes will also be slower. However, that may be case with zinc. But I don't think so, I perceive storing zinc as just being very low with catching on what's going on. You'd be slow to figure out things. You'd need more time to get what somebody is suggesting or implying.

It's more like... Edward exchanged his arm and becoming a cripple for life in exchange for soul (and part of mind or something, cannot recall). If he tried to bring back Alphonse fully, with not only soul, but also whole mind and body, he would have been consumed fully. Humans consist of three parts: Body, Mind and Soul (Colours Iridescent, FMA is Cosmere!).

It's like - okay, it's not as nonexistant as I led you to believe - okay, lets assume you start at height H=0m. Then you move the ball to H=1m. You struggled against the gravity to raise this ball by 1 meter. So the ball 'gained' energy. When you drop it, that energy converts to kinetic energy. Okay, but what if we started at h=1m? Like the ball was made at this height? No energy was expended to raise it to this level, right? That's where potential energy comes in. Imagine the Earth as a sphere and add layers around it every 1 meter from surface. Those layers would be some kind of "energy layers" - the ball which is at the height of one meter has some gravitational potential energy, as everything on that level; that potential energy can be only "harvested"/"used" when the ball gets lower, so it "falls". Then - and only then - the potential energy converts to kinetic energy (and thermal and a few more, but we assume perfect conditions, right?). Moving 'down' a layer means losing potential energy and gaining kinetic energy and moving "up" a layer means the energy has to be expended and you gain potential energy. If something is unclear, please ask. (P.S. It's all assuming the Earth as our point of view, of course. It would look a little different from the space, but it doesn't matter)

Yeah, sure, I just meme'd Knight Gradient's post using memegenerator. So it's not like I actually gave a lot of effort to create it. Go ahead.

Syl's words strongly imply that highspren bond with Skybreakers. Words of Radiance, chapter 59. Kaladin says that him escaping the prison would be against the law to which Syl replies that she is not a highspren and laws doesn't matter, only what's right matter.
-
No, Bondsmiths bond godspren. Highspren is one of the types of spren, I don't understand your statement that's "a pretty generic classification".

Maybe they just done something together when they were dying? They both saved someone or something at the same time and were Returned together.
-
Our ideas are leaking out to Cognitive Realm, where Sanderson collects them. Brandon confirmed to be Hoid.
-
You're right, it's in clearly stated in the book. Damnation. I don't know about Skybreakers being the one order not to break the oaths - current Skybreakers with Nalan hunt Surgebinders. So what, they didn't betray, then reached out to Nalan or something and then he went full-on rampage on them?

May it burn high and bright. @WEZ313, can I quote your post in the "Szeth is a Stone Shaman" theory thread?

Why Didn’t Renarin Reveal His Radiancy?

I wonder if skills are spike'able. Like spiking Adolin for his fencing. -
Zahel said that Shardblade weights less than a regular longsword. And it's longer and broader. Shardplate provides additional strength not only to your arms, but also your hand and fingers, so I guess the grip is firmer and one can wield Shardblade one handed.

Sounds like a cross between "Kingkiller Chronicles" sympathy and Feruchemy (no offence). As for your magic, I'd say storing potential energy will gonna be really hard to work with, since the potential energy doesn't exist - if you tried storing kinetic energy as something is falling, fine, it falls slower; but if you try to rob the thing of its potential energy... well, the gravitational potential energy is just a way of saying how much energy is needed to move said object from the surface (in simplification, it really depends on center of mass, but we can omit that) to the height its at. E= mass*height*gravitational acceleration. If you try to take away a part of this energy, some component must decrease. If we go with decreasing height, then the object is simply falling and you're effectively robbing it of kinetical energy. If we go with decreasing mass, well, the object is now lighter, but nothing changed in it, so its complicated. Gravitational acceleration is of the planet, so I doubt your mages could do that. It won't simply just float in place; the thing is This train of thought is misguided. What makes the ball fall is gravity, not transformation of potential energy into kinetic energy. You swapped the effect with the cause - we started using potential energy only because someone thought "If I drop this ball, its gonna gain kinetic energy; but what if I don't drop it?". The potential energy is only there because the object is in gravitational field, not the other way around.

Properly trained humans are capable of snatching projectiles from the air (maybe not high-speed, but still), so I guess somebody with battle experience and so on of few thousand years can do that with a dart. It's more of higher human capability than Steelrunner speedstering.

Maxal, fixed. I claim the discussion whether the word "racism" is appropriate in regard to what Kaladin believes closed as I have little to add. I believe that the topic is expended. For downvoters, I'd like to remind you that the downvote is reserved for posts which are offensive, rude, break the rules etc. We do not go and downvote people who disagree with us so long as it is right they obey the rules. People can have different opinions; we may disagree with them, fine, we can argue with them (politely), but downvoting somebody without a good reason is not appreciated.

The words are accepted. Your subsequent oaths as well. Rise and provide judgement for theories who need it! The words are accepted. Yo're getting there

Both are useful if you get lost far from civilization. (Well, I was setting mine up to follow up with "you wish you were a Slider", but your works just as well) Silence is like a man fleeing. -

Well, the "two spike" and "Twinborn combination" aren't rules, just a simple suggestion in order to be more creative. Yeah, you need luck in the first place. But everybody has a bit of luck, so it isn't a problem. Mark Watney (from The Martian) could really use some Compounding luck (he is basically Robinson Cruzoe stuck on Mars and things tend to go wrong all the time for him)
