  1. Ekhm. And Slavic, thank you.
  2. On Roshar perhaps one could possibly bond the Shard itself... Since Roshar focus is probably "bond", the arrival of a Shard would create a way to bond it.
  3. If I were Harmony, I'd just move both of the Sharpools deep underground or to the seabottom somewhere far away from the coast. Maybe both.
  4. Again, even polygraph can be fooled (no hard evidence here, since it's something I read somewhere and I am too lazy to go on searching spree) and polygraph would be way more accurate than another person, even Tin Metalborn. I'd like to finally kill the anchor argument: metal is too hard to be affected by a simple Push equivalent to shooting a coin or a nail or something like that even if it would, simply increasing the number of the anchors would be sufficient to balance shooting a coin you simply can walk in that direction and Push mid-step simultaneuosly increasing the force which you use to walk on the foot in the back (If what I wrote is unreadable, please say so, English is not native to me, I will rephrase it)
  5. I don't mean simulating Physical Aspect. I just wonder how the Cognitive Aspect of the diamond would change over time if everybody thought that's a ruby. Cognitive Aspect is shaped both by how the object sees itself AND how others see it.
  6. I thought that Bleeder is governor the moment Wayne caught the wrong accent word. But Lessie reveal caught me completely off guard. Sanderson, you storming genius. Sazed, you rusting bastard. I got really sad over it.
  7. There may be some connection with powerful Soothing/Rooting enabling to take control of Hemalurgical constructs and Bleeder's plan, but I don't think that proves anything about 'Trell'. Sometimes a word is just a word.
  8. You can't ever have enough of it. Okay, easy one: Programmers are like Elantrians.
  9. But we're discussing how the Cognitive aspect of such diamond would be affected, not its value or anything...
  10. You do not need clear line between the shooter and the victim. You need a clear line between weapon and victim. I already pointed out how there would be no stress on the anchors... The killer doesn't have to know the victim. The analogy with the sniper rifle is deeply flawed. The sniper has to somehow have clear line of shooting. He has to sneak in to that position. Coinshot doesn't even need to see the person with his own eyes, he has steelsight. Coinshot can fly to almost anywhere and nobody, even if somebody has seen him do it, won't see his face. The police would be able to determine that Coinshot was at the top of the building (or a Lurcher somewhere below) and nothing else. Fingerprints? On what? He didn't need to touch anything, and if he did, there are gloves. He didn't leave any DNA, why would he? Maybe he could leave behind a hair while jumping, but that won't help them find the man - it could be proof against him, but unless they have DNA database with him registered, that won't help them. Footprints? Not really helpful. People can wear the same shoes. And Coinshot doesn't even need to stand on the ground, he can float all the time. There is some issue with getting on the roof in the firstplace, but how often do you look out in the window? The difference in Allomantic strength is very little. Even if they knew how to measure it, you can burn metals at different rates, so that's not really helpful.
  11. Okay, maybe something less subjective to the passage of time. Place an illusion on diamond to make it appear like ruby.
  12. Welcome to the world of paying a Coppercloud to cover your tracks. Unless police Seekers receive Hemalurgic spikes to augment their Bronze, but that is unlikely. The problem with Coinshots/Lurchers is that they can kill without drawing any attention to them. For example, Coinshot Steelpushes himself to the top of the building, flares steel to pinpoint the target beneath him and then Pushes on chandelier to drop it on his target. While police may figure out that a Coinshot was involved, there aren't many people on the roofs of buildings. Allomancer doesn't even have to be in the same room to kill. He doesn't even need to enter the building. And good luck with tracking the coins... Unlike bullets, there are a ton of coins around, everybody has them and noone registers coins. Well, I can see paper money coming... With enough anchors and little projectiles the subtle Pull/Push on the anchors would balance the sudden movement of the projectile. There would be virtually no stress on the anchors, the Misting would stay firmly in place. In crowded place you couldn't pinpoint him. The eyewitnesses can describe the person only if they saw him do something (like shooting a gun). A person standing in place won't draw any attention. What's worse, even in the cases where there are many eyewitnesses and the culprit draw attention to himself, people tend to forget and remember many details wrong. I can see Metalborn Registraction Act thing going on... How would you force somebody to reveal himself being Feruchemist? You can't force anybody to store. The same problem with Allomancy, you can't just force somebody to swallow something and even if you manage that, there is no way to force him to burn. Not to mention the social issues with registrating people only because they are Metalborn. For more problems like catching Metalborn killers check out the topic "Everyday life on Shardworlds" in my sign
  13. With that Identity thing going on... In Cosmere, "becoming the mask" trope is in full effect because of Cognitive Aspect, right? What if somebody made an illusion that apple is orange and everybody would always think about it "that's orange". How would Cognitive Aspect of that apple be affected?
  14. Since I already pronounce a great number of names the way I'd pronounce them in Polish (for example, Szeth is "Sheth", since "sz" is pronounced "sh")... It's weird how often I get a pronounciation which is the same as the English one. 'Edgli' is read Ed-glee, for example. I never read "Jasnah" with english "j", but with "y" (since the word "bright" is "jasny/jasna/jasne" in Polish, so I figured out that something's going on here). I also read 'Jezrien' with 'y', not 'j'. I wonder if it's correct.
  15. I have reread the end of WoA and I haven't noticed any mention of footprints.
  16. Yeah, even if we hadn't seen them attract any spren means little - maybe they haven't exhibited strong enough emotion. But if something is there, I want to keep an eye on this in future books. If truly worldhoppers doesn't attract emotionsprent, then lack of them could indicate a worldhopper. A lot of wiggle room, but worth considering.
  17. If I understood you correctly, you draw a line between "anyone can do it" and "few can do it"? I'd say it's not terribly useful definition - if Sazed suddenly decided to turn everyone on Scadrial into Metalborn, then Metallic Arts stop being magic and become technology?
  18. That's not what I meant. Does worldhopper attract hungerspren when he's hungry? Does someone not from Roshar attract fearspren when he is scared? That sort of thing. I am almost certain that we haven't seen worldhoppers attract these spren, but I could be wrong. If my theory is true, it could be useful for identifying worldhoppers.
  19. The Nalthis argument has already been brought up. If everyone on the planet is magic, then what?
  20. We know that it could be theoretically possible for worldhoppers to bond Radiantspren or such (though Returned, and as I suspect Elantrians may have it harder because of Rule of Investiture Interference). My question is if worldhoppers attract spren of any kind? Like hungerspren or angerspren and such. It may be that being offworlder is enough of Investiture Interference for lesser spren not to be attracted. Have we seen Hoid, Zahel, Iyatil or somebody from 17th Shard attract any spren? Cannot recall.
  21. But the footprint is canon, isn't it?
  22. Well, that would explain inventing new language on the fly to better express his ideas - but encoding things without leaving the key, not even pointing to which paragraph they should look for the key is rather counterproductive.
  23. Well, with the amount of Investiture he has he could probably reach power threshold of Sliver.
  24. We're treading philosophical waters here. It's much like the question "What is fantasy?". I'd like to quote the author of the Witcher series, Andrzej Sapkowski: "Fantasy is what publisher describes as fantasy". So magic is what we call magic.
