  1. There is a WoB that it's theoretically possible to distill lerasium from the mists.
  2. I talked about upper limit here: (BoM spoilers, duh) (the Mistpoint section)
  3. Do you mean Edgli making Splinters and Returning people? That's hardly influencing Awakening. I'm not sure whether there were some unclear WoBs on that or not. Anyway, IIRC Brandon said that this fact would mean some funny effects. Still, I don't see how is that influencing how the magic works. Once they made the planet the magic would show up, I think. Sure we do. Brandon even talks about how such 'balance magic' would show up in other places with multiple Shards. About that... Lerasium (and atium) just condense near the Sharpools. They were not specifically created by the Shards. And even if they were, godmetals are already kind of outside of the magic system.
  4. He did heal. On numerous occasions, but the easiest one to find is when he kills Gavilar and inhales Stormlight from the gems in the Shardplate to heal his broken jaw. These are the same abilities that are granted by Nahel bond, albeit Syl mentions that Szeth needs far more Stormlight to do what Kaladin does.
  5. The amethyst just screams for shadows. I mean, it immediately came to my mind. Also, the color kinda matches The sapphire... how about the power to temporarily free your mind of its own constraints? A moment of non-restricted transcendense (like going mad for a moment). A literal brainstorm. Ability to think clearly and not care for anything that could constrain it.
  6. A piece of general advice: invest in post-its. When I have an idea, I write it down on it and stick it on the windowsill. (IMPORTANT: Make the note so that it would be understandable. I had some very headscratching post-its in the beginning and I didn't know what to make out of them.) Later I can make a quick look through written things and that way my subconsciousness can work on it. When I figure something out and write it down (in the doc with ideas or here) I throw out the related post-it. It works pretty well.
  7. Hackers in the service of humanity. @TwiLyghtSansSparkles, don't give up on things. I'm with @Kaymyth here.
  8. Oh, so I mixed it up a little.
  9. I thought it's that Nightblood destroys on all Three Realms, while Shardblades cut living things in the Cognitive & Spiritual and non-living things on all Three?
  10. Shards have very little control over the magic. What we call magic is a natural outgrowth of the interaction between the planet and the Shards that Invested in it. They don't 'design' the magic systems or anything. Even their influence on that is limited. IIRC Horneaters are result of Listener-human in...inter?... crossbreeding?... well, of mixing their bloodlines. Horneaters (and Herdaz and some other) in that regard are hybrids. That would make them able to see spren.
  11. Marsh wasn't a Mistborn, Marsh was a Seeker. And what @Yata said. Since Inquisitors are commonly known as being able to Push/Pull metals stronger than average Mistborn, it is reasonable they have at least 2 spikes for each (but to account for Hemalurgic decay I'd use three, but YMMV). I don't see how there can be only... what, four bindpoints for Allomantic steel and Allomantic iron? two on body and two eyes? That just doesn't make sense.
  12. I'd actually argue that having to constantly feed him Investiture just so you could wield him makes him a worse weapon, not a better one. I mean, Shardblade requires no Stormlight to function and you can swing it around all you want. Draw Nightblood and not only you're put on a timer, but also you keep losing Investiture (what's even worse, Nalthis is not a place that Investiture can be easily obtained - on Sel Nightblood could probably feed on the Dor flowing through Elantrians, on Scadrial perhaps burning a metal could be enough, Roshar has Stormlight...).
  13. Yes. No. Probably no. No evidence they can and it would have been really strange if they could. It is not known. Just like any other Radiant
  14. I just hope that it'll turn out like it was with Heath Ledger and the whole "he can't play the Joker".
  15. There is a disturbing howtobasic youtube channel. Can't say more, 'cause spoilers.
  16. There is a six pages long thread dedicated to trying to figure out anagram out of a word that probably isn't an anagram. 17th Shard never ceases to amaze me. (Cracking the Roshar continent shape thread was longer, but it actually made sense and we knew there was something in it, so it doesn't count :P)
  17. I know that I already answered it, but I was wrong. You're talking about what Sigzil said near the end of the chapter 40 of WoK? He only said he tried to kill someone, but it turned out that the person survived. I think we have no WoBs on that (or I don't remember any).
  18. The thing is, Shardblades are in fact designed to be weapons (with patterning over Honorblades and things like that), so it's natural they are very good weapons. But Nightblood on the other hand... I mean, Awakening's basic mechanism is to animate things, to give them a pretence of life, transforming them to somewhat humanoid things. This isn't exactly a very suitable magic system to make a weapon. So a lot of Breaths came in just to make the sword alive and everything else is kind of side effect just so Nightblood could carry out his Command.
  19. I was thinking about these things. First of all, if medallions become widespread and somewhat common... Combine that with the fact that Northern Hemisphere has a lot of Metalborn and you have a lot of Compounders running around. That's a little scary thought. One Miles was quite a trouble... imagine Steel Compounders running left and right, people who cannot die, people able to Lurch down buildings, people infinitely Lucky... Or even a rustful more Twinborn like Crashers. That's starts to get into Reckoners territory... If you cannot afford a medallion, I imagine that some who do could set up business which would be Compounding client's metalminds. I mean, you're a Bloodmaker and don't want to spend two weeks in bed with sickness just so you could heal one bullet? Give your metalmind to the Compounder store and get back a goldmind filled to the brim. The Southern Scadrians probably don't have any problems like that, since every medallion provides Feruchemical Warmth and double power medallions are rare. With virtually no naturally born Allomancers and probably no Feruchemists, even with medallions they have less problems with Metalborn than Northern pre-BoM. But once Northeners get their hands on medallions, things gonna get crazy.
  20. You know who's complicated? Donna Troy. (I admit I only know about her because of nebezial's drawing)
  21. Back when I still trained judo, some of my teachers at school used to very carefully ask me about those markings on my throat. I'm not sure what is the most common suspition if you see a kid with markings indicating he's into a lot of self-strangulation... Anyway, in judo some of the techniques are about choking the opponent. And the thing is, when it's done by pulling on the collar to do the choke, it rubs on the skin and leaves red mark. During training that move we'd repeat that multiple times and inevitably next day in school if I were to stare at the ceiling or whatever, I'd be asked about it.
  22. I know, that's why I am asking. But all these required Elantrian actively creating these Aons; Lightweaving (or Awakening) is one step separate from that as Elantrian is only the first link in the chain of creating the Aon. Another question: We know that aluminium cannot be Forged; but could you make a (working) Stamp out of aluminium?
  23. Now I just feel stupid. Too long since I read Elantris.
  24. So as I was trying to fall asleep last night I remembered that some of Aonic names are in fact built around Aons. I remembered that in Raoden's name it's Aon Rao... And isn't Aon Rao the power amplifier of Elantris? Doesn't it mean "Spirit"? Isn't Raoden's guise "Spirit"? I checked today and it turns out I remembered right. I don't know if I'm just the only one not to catch that instantly or that nobody has ever figured it out yet (I tried searching). Anyway, it seems that Raoden chose "a totally not suspicious, not significant nickname" which had totally no links to his name. It's like he was begging to be recognized
  25. I think that the 'upgrade Elantrian' pack would consist of Feruchemical zinc, Feruchemical copper, Feruchemical steel... I think that's it. With Feruchemical copper Elantrian could have not only a complete list of Aons and modifiers, but also a really long list of already prepared complex programs. No need to invent everything on the spot if you can prepare it earlier and recall it perfectly. Feruchemical zinc would allow quick analysis of the situation and quick choice, while Feruchemical steel would allow to draw it instantly. Feruchemical steel and Feruchemical zinc could be replaced with Allomantic bendalloy, though. Anything I forgot to add? Feruchemical steel affects only the speed of your body. So it does not effect the speed of Steelpushing, which makes your suggestion equivalent to the one I already added (Surge of Abrasion, Feruchemical steel).
