  1. Why did Inquisitors have spikes driven through their eyes in the first place? I mean, there are so many bindpoints that those spikes could surely be inserted somewhere else, so what's the point in depraving them of one of the most basic senses? Did TLR made this deliberately so they'd have another weak point?
  2. Well, that and the fact that you get a nice armor to fly around The design of the armor would be instantly recognized, so it shouldn't be a problem to repaint it in different colors. But I don't recall such changes (well, I'm not terribly sure about Iron Man legacy characters - did Tony ever pass the mantle to somebody else? I mean for more than a short time).
  3. @Quiver, since you already mentioned it... What would be the motivation for characters to even adopt a identity of a former hero, thus becoming a "legacy hero"? I'm struggling with that bit in my own worldbuilding. I understand that sometimes there is a very good reason (like passing down the artifact/gadget/equipment/whatever to another person upon retiring), but if that's not the case... I mean, for example: why would Grayson adopt the identity of Batman if Bruce died instead of continuing to go under the identity of Nightwing?
  4. We don't actually know that. Syl implies that those with spren have morality checks and those without the spren (e.g. Honorblade owner) don't have. The issue of Ishar setting rules generated a lot of heated debate about what does it exactly mean, so don't take it for granted that he somehow made the spren use Oaths. While it's true, it's due to the fact that anybody can pick up a Honorblade and Honorblade grants the owner Surgebinding. But anybody who attracts the spren must have correct attitude/behavior/state of mind, must be following a specific set of ideals (like Windrunners have leading/protecting for their attributes) and must swear Oaths to advance.
  5. I want fanart with TLR going "wheeee!" while spinning on his swivel chair, then seeing that an Inquisitor walked in and regaining his composure of "the serious tyrannical godly emperor overlord".
  6. So I went to coppermind and I'm confused. For example, page for Hemalurgy says that duraluminium "steals Spiritual Feruchemical powers" while page for duraluminium says that it's unknown what property it steals What do we have confirmed, either by book or WoB? Iron: human strenght Steel: Allomantic Physical powers Tin: human senses Pewter: Feruchemical Physical powers Zinc: human emotional stability Brass: Feruchemical Hybrid powers Copper: human mental fortitude Bronze: Allomantic mental powers Cadmium: ??? Bendalloy: ??? Gold: ??? Electrum: ??? Chromium: ??? Nicrosil: ??? Aluminium: Allomantic enhancement powers Duraluminium: ??? Is that right or did I get something messed up? Or maybe there are some WoBs I don't know about?
  7. I'm about to throw new info about Shardplate vs bullets and then feed on the bloodbath that commences.
  8. 6 times 7 is is The Answer. I know that the Question is "what is six times nine?", but The Answer is more widely known.
  9. I know, I know. But I had to choose between two references and I chose the less obscure one
  10. That's... that's a beatiful metaphor to describe a flame war <3
  11. @Ari, that's not a different spren. There is and always been only one Stormfather. The thing is, he wasn't always the same - Honor's arrival on Roshar (or Honor's Splintering) somehow changed him.
  12. I think that there are two Shards there, and their numbers (like Preservation's 16 or Honor's 10) are 6 and 7
  13. We do not know the mechanism of Odium's prison. We can speculate about a deal Honor struck with Odium which made him inable to leave Greater Roshar, but we do not know what's been done nor how it's been done. Also, Odium is resisted by a fully alive, fully powerful Shard, so it creates a situation similar to Preservation/Ruin equilibrium. Adonalsium was balanced between the intents of the Shards that were ripped from it; it either means that it was unable to do anything (contrevidence in Adonalsium creating a ton of things) or was able to do anything. Sel: both dead Scadrial: two locked in deathmatch, then one with conflicting Intents Roshar: one dead, two in perpetual war That leaves only Nalthis with Endowment. She does chose to offer a Splinter to someone she considered worthy and a chance to change the future, but those were not things great in the scale of Shards: avert this war, someone dying of illness and so on. We don't even know what Edgli is up to.
  14. Finally! Now I can finish this tedious existence and move on to a better one and I don't even have to do anything tiresome like jumping off a bridge! I just need not to share this post?! That's a bargain! post sponsored by Nihilist memes
  15. No need, I wasn't disturbed at all. At first I thought that some other tab started playing, but it wasn't. After that I quickly concluded what's going on Seriously, not even rightclicking on the bar and choosing "close" or alt+f4 are ending all the processes of discord (no idea why). Each time I have to go to task manager and kill the program. Who thought that's the good solution? I looked around the web and there are many complaints but the devs aren't doing a quite simple thing!
  16. After my first time using Discord I closed it. Some time later, when I was listening to The Last Goodbye a voice speaks up: "What's that song?". It was 3:30 am here and if I were easily scaried, I would surely jump out of my skin. Fortunately I am not and I am familiar with the idiotic practice of software designers called "let's put one button for minimizining and make the one associated with closing actually minimize the program to system tray while leaving no option to end the program but to kill it manually".
  17. The name of the movie is... *drums*... Soylent Green!
  18. I've added some of the proposed combinations. Some I didn't, especially I avoided those very specific ones, like those who could work for only one person (Nightwatcher deals, for example). And I've added one of my own.
  19. Kandra and mistwraiths were created by Lord Ruler, so I doubt it.
  20. DARTH VADER IS LUKE'S FATHER?! WHY DID YOU HOW COULD YOU NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! obligatory joke is obligatory
  21. Feruchemy doesn't work like that. You can be perfectly still and store speed. If you want evidence, Sazed is not moving when he stores speed while imprisoned by kandra in HoA. Such bullets would be totally impractical as he would be wasting his weight which he needs time to accumulate. He's much better off with hazekiller bullets. Does it? Skin is elastic, it could just stretch. I suspect that if you tap too much pewter your skin would rip (as it happens to some bodybuilders). I believe I've a WoB that tapping too much pewter would totally do exactly that. Very theoretically you could also starve yourself to death due to tapping too much zinc. Tapping pewter doesn't affect bones, only muscles. I'm sorry for tearing your theories to shreds
  22. Well, we consider Feruchemists or Allomancers losing their abilities when they actually die anyway, so that's a legitimate question. BTW, Hemalurgy doesn't have to be lethal. Very damaging - yes, but it could be non-lethal.
  23. Could you make someone unable to do Hemalurgy by spiking it out of that person?
  24. We're horrible people. Or maybe we're just fascinated by horrifying things *cough cough* Dark Alley *cough cough*. I'm writing an article for Polish fansite about cosmere magic and Hemalurgy was taking so much space that I trimmed it down and decided I need another article just to explain what do we know about Hemalurgy. Why do we know so much about Hemalurgy but so little about Shaod? Or Snapping? Compounding? Placement of spikes in Hemalurgy, Hemalurgy on cats, Hemalurgy on trees ... Hemalurgy on planets... Hemalurgy on Hema- Could you make someone unable to do Hemalurgy by spiking it out of that person? *adding to the List right now*
