  1. I think that perhaps Ghostbloods took interest in them because the other society Shallan's mother was part of already did. According to Mraize, Helaran was part of Nalan's Skybreakers. And Helaran attacked Amaram who himself is part of Sons Of Honor, so Helaran definitely wasn't part of Sons Of Honor (although Amaram thought those were Ghostbloods who attacked him).
  2. A (Polish) publisher company has books 46% off. So I thought I could buy something, cause it's almost half-price, right? I heard that Dresden Files are good, so I added the first six (they don't have #7 but they do have #8 and #9. Weird) and then I added also The Aeronaut's Windlass... And now I wonder whether I should spend so much money The sale lasts till Friday, so I have time to think about that. I don't even know if these books are as good as I heard. Choices, choices...
  3. As I interact with people of various political views, I can say that there are those who support them, those who don't like them, those who don't care, those who try to make their own political agenda based on demonizing them and those who genuinely believe L&J is evil incarnate. Strangely enough, I never saw any of their supporters or people having similar views comment on revisioning history. What a coincidence, right? Anyway, we have no good option as far as poilitical parties go. That seems to be an universal constant across the world.
  4. Or simply Harkaylain is a Truthwatcher and when they predict something, they are not often wrong. Perhaps Radiants do not age while holding Stormlight, so if they do that often they have a longer lifespan than normal people, but to be truly ageless they would need to hold it at all times and that is simply impossible.
  5. Not only she was in Shardplate, but she also was in stormform and since it probably is one of the Voidbringer forms, it probably grants access to Stormlight (or whatever Voidbringers use). So it would take a lot more than a simple fall to kill her. ... Now that I think about it, other stormforms were falling just like they should after run through with a sword, so I'm not sure about that Stormlight now.
  6. I believe we once discussed the Nicroburst chain reaction... I can't remember then thread's name, though.
  7. Is there a way to dive into What Happened...? and not get lost?
  8. I was writing a long post relating to the whole thing but it started to stray into difficult topics as I took on the place of the religion in the society (y'know, why religious people perceive some things as morally unacceptable while people of a different mindset don't). So I just want to remind Jasnah words on good and bad people, both in and out of religion.
  9. The functional difference between being dead and worldhopping. When people die, their Cognitive and Spiritual aspects are ripped from the physical one. In a way, they are two-realm people instead of three... and lack of ties to the Physical Realm means they have no anchor and as result are pulled Beyond. Is that correct? Now, worldhoppers (and other people able to transport themselves into Cognitive Realm like Elsecallers and probably Lightweavers) also can enter Cognitive Realm fully, effectively erasing themselves from the Physical Realm. How are they able to make their body temporarily disappear? What happens to their ties to the Physical if there is no body? I assume that traversing the Realms is in fact consciousness concetrating more on one of the Realms - Shallan and Jasnah are still present in Physical when Soulcasting, but their essence is concentrated on the Cognitive. Similarly, when Kelsier stares into Fuzz's eyes, he concentrates on the Spiritual. But being able to completely disappear from one of the Realms, like worldhoppers and Jasnah do with Physical, is a little different.
  10. What the rusting what storm now? She must be part of a different version of christianity than I am.
  11. Priorities first @Mashadar Mistborn congratulations!
  12. Really? I must have missed that. So why was Elantris even built in the first place? I mean, why go through the trouble of shaping walls and buildings of the city to make Aons if they could have been just drawn once?
  13. Huh. I suspect that Threnody Shades are fundamentally different from the usual Cognitive Shadows (I'm not implying that they're not Cognitive Shadows - just a different kind). BTW, what is this "Con Exclusive"? I can't find anything on it.
  14. I know I'm throwing a grenade into a nest of hornets... but what is so bad about the Epilogue?
  15. Burning a metal inside your body but not in your stomach takes practice. So far we've seen nobody do that. So you'd have to aim your shots very precisely... and if the bullet can pierce to the stomach, you're much better off with schrapnel bullets instead of unnecessarily complicating the whole thing with allomantic metals. Since aluminium blocks healing, the best solution would be simply aluminium or if you can't afford it, just aluminium coated shrapnels. Even Gold Compounders would fall prey to aluminium scattered around in their brain since they can't heal it. BTW, Miles simply tapped his metalminds, he didn't Compound during fights, so your tactic wouldn't be effective even if you managed to execute it.
  16. The only WoB about something like that I remember was something along the lines of asking whether children of Inquisitors would have a better chance of being metalborn and Brandon said "there would be... complications."
  17. You need to say more so that I could add descriptions as I haven't read Sixth of the Dusk nor White Sand yet and I simply don't know how would these powers work
  18. I'm not sure whether it should go into Cosmere Theories or here. So somebody on reddit was wondering whether the Gavilar's black sphere could be similar to Connection orb Kelsier stole. If it really held Connection to Odium, it makes some sense: obviously it couldn't have been used to Ascend to Odium, but perhaps enough to attract attention of Unmade or even Odium himself. Or maybe just to gather voidspren en masse which would be helpful in the attempt to bring Voidbringers back.
  19. I think it's just far easier to mate in mateform than in other forms (duh). I mean, all of forms carry some changes to the mindset and none of them are particularly romantically oriented; so they change into mateform and after they're done they return to their favourite/expected forms. And one more thing: parshmen and dullform are not the same thing (although similar). Parshmen is the absence of the form (sometimes called slaveform, to align with the naming); dullform is a form.
  20. Programmers (and maybe not only them!) will laugh. (It's pretty old, but... gold.) https://www.destroyallsoftware.com/talks/wat
  21. Rowling just embraced the troll side of life and all of what was posted is true. It's kind of playing with the form, the plot, treating the canon as something you can model and reshape. It's a dadaist joke.
  22. Did you read Shadows of Self? It touches these things a little. There is a topic briefly discussing those things, but it's quite spoilery: (BoM spoilers) Also, I think you meant WoB (Word of Brandon), not BoM (Bands of Mourning). Just heads up Anyway, animal Hemalurgy is something I'm looking forward to very much. I mean, it's mostly guilt-free - no need to kill humans. Some very interesting chimaeras could be made. Although I'm afraid that speaking humans with animal attributes could lead to unwanted effects, like making the recipient animalistic or beast-like.
  23. @Shadeshadow227 How about you actually look for WoBs instead of claiming it's all 'speculation'? There was a better WoB on this, but I can't find it. It talked about something like "so much power destroys the body" and that the reason that Vin didn't die was because it transformed her (cause she Ascended). (BoM spoilers) And I'd agree that Wax could be a little weaker than Vin burning mists. After all, he stopped at the point that he started emitting mist; has he gone further than that and the power would start destroying him. That's why I named it Mistpoint - much like boiling point, it's the boundary which should you cross you start to change state. Vin has gone further with burning mists and they were actually continuously detroying her body until she vaporized and Ascended.
  24. ... I have never thought of thought. Not the masks; the fact that since Scadrial had steam engines and was about to hit the railroads before TLR's Ascension... During Second Era they should be around... (Earth's railroad start somewhere in 1700s?... + 1000 years of TLR's rule + 340 years of the skip...) in about 31th century. Wait, what? I mean, we can count off some years due to the Deepness... and moving the Scadrial closer to planet and the resulting hardships and adaptation needed... and then Catacendre which froze them... But still, they should be way ahead.
  25. IIRC... totally canon. Well, I learned it from Batman Beyond when both of them are old and gray-haired, so it didn't earn any strong reaction from me.
