  1. I find it unsettling that there is such an absence of pictures of bloodied metal spikes or alien landscapes filled with glass spheres on the Internet
  2. Nice move with that explanation - presentation of metals sequence, @Doctor12.
  3. So I read a WoB that Hemalurgy can be done by someone with right spiritual genes (perhaps there was something about Connection, too). If it's in spiritweb, it can be spiked. So you could spike out out of someone ability to use Hemalurgy or store it in nicrosil... The question is: what would having a stronger ability to do Hemalurgy actually do?
  4. I wouldn't know. You're a Sanderfan when you're constantly looking up things in the books...
  5. That you have achieved the ultimate human interaction skill?
  6. So I was searching for some quote in WoR and I've come upon a passage which reminded me it's quite common to curse by Stormfather's name. Now imagine Dalinar reflexively uttering "Stormfather" or exclaiming "Stormfather!"... and the actual Stormfather responding "What?".
  7. Not anymore. Since the major overhaul the limit has gone up.
  8. A twin thread to the DCCU thread; here is a fresh Doctor Strange trailer:
  9. I have no idea about Wonder Woman. Until that trailer I didn't even know that she's ageless. How come that one of the Big Three was never given a proper backstory... I mean, there are less popular heros I know origins of. Well, judging by for example Flashpoint animation where he was able to-go-toe to toe with Wonder Woman or Young Justice, I'd say pretty great. IIRC he has the standard basic powerset (just switch flying with breathing underwater).
  10. We know that NIghtblood is one of the most difficult (or even the most difficult) things to affect with Steelpushing or Ironpulling. But can he be Rioted or Soothed? I mean, metals piercing the body are hard to affect because of the Innate Investiture of humans, but humans are affected by Soothing just fine. EDIT: Does Elantrian need to actually make the Aon with their own hands? What if Elantrian was a Lightweaver? Would Dor act through Lightweaved Aon? What if Elantrian Awakened rope and Commanded it to shape itself into an Aon?
  11. This is rather long; tldr: My family is constantly arguing and today it was about the chores which I do majority of. Another fight broke out today. One of the traditional topics, "household chores". It started off because the shower drain wasn't cleaned. My dad did say in my presence that "It needs cleaning", but I'm currently trying to force a new policy called "I ain't a storming telepath - tell me what to do" so I went with "Aha" and went about my own business. (I really hate when it turns out that I didn't do something that was obvious to my parents, but not to me. So right now I'm not reacting even to those vague "something needs to be done" because in 99% cases it turns out that I'm doing it and I'm replying with "Aha" or "something needs to be done" or "truly, it is the way you speak it is" (OK, not that one)) (And yes, I multiple times over had explained to them that I do not read their minds, so they need to tell me what to do. I had too many situations that I went ahead and did what I thought was sensible only to turn out it was completely unnecessary or even counter-productive) The thing is, when we clean the whole house (once every two weeks), I already have the worst part: my sister dusts off things (about 15-20 minutes), my dad takes care of the bathrooms (half an hour? 45 minutes?), I vacuum the whole house (about one and half hour). So the shower is technically dad's jurisdiction, although if he went and asked me to do it (because he was tired or anything) I would have done that. I take out the trash (daily), I unload the dishwasher (daily or more often), I load the dishwasher (at least three times a day), I clean dishes (few times a day. because apparently everyone else thinks that if they leave dirty things near the dishwasher, they magically clean themselves - I'm talking about things that can't go into dishwasher and I seem to be the only one not picking the glasses and plates that can't go in it ), I have the biggest part in the house cleaning, lately I help with preparing the meal (with increasing frequency), I mow the lawn (and it's a pretty big one), I help with the garden work... While my sister is supposed to hang the laundry and iron it (once a week? Once every two weeks?) and do her small part in house cleaning... Yeah, supposed to. Usually the laundry waits for ironing for weeks and if she's told to do it, a fight breaks out. She thinks I should iron my clothes. The thing is, I already am taking over the 'hanging the laundry' thing. So why should I do iron my clothes, if I am already doing the majority of the chores? My sister seems to think that she does far more than I do and constantly brings up in arguments how she would switch the places with me. Maybe ironing does take more time than taking out the trash, but I take out the trash far more often than she does ironing. And I don't argue about that every time I do it. Unlike her. I'm fed up with all those arguments, shouting, screaming... I just want some peace.
  12. Is there a major DC thread so I can post the Justice League trailer? Because I tried searching for "dc" and nothing comes up.
  13. Heads up to everybody: I found that thinking about a particular power and thinking about what would best augment it is a good way to come up with new combinations. Like with Abrasion + Feruchemical steel, I was just thinking how awesome it is that you make yourself exempt from the any resistance (friction, air resistance) and then it just clicked that Feruchemical steel goes along well. It isn't, technically. I said I wanted to avoid listing Compounding unless both powers were relevant. In your example both powers are relevant, so that's OK. I made that rule so we avoid listing two powers when actually it's one that matters: infinite healing is awesome, but Allomantic gold isn't. So I made the rule that when we talk about Feruchemical power, it can also mean Compounding it but the allomantic power is irrelevant; helps to be clear about which powers we're talking about. In my example with Lightweaver + Compounding copper both Allomantic and Feruchemical powers are important. If Allomantic one wasn't, I'd just have said Copper Feruchemy and then everyone knows that I mean that Feruchemical power (finite or infinite) is important here. BTW, I like your idea about Steelpushing and Gravity Surge. If you're to make a quick change of direction, Steelpushing is better than Lashings. But in turn Lashings are better because they don't need anchors and you can pretty much anywhere, any altitude. So Steelpushing allows for more maneuvrability, but Lashings allow for more freedom. Good one.
  14. One word: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! That moment when Kelsier and Vin reunited, though. So heartwarming.
  15. Yeah, we got four new metals and there are no Mistborns anymore. Got it? Because the name's 'Allomancy' and Catacendre and Second Era Scadrial and... I think I'll see myself out.
  16. There is a WoB that Adonalsium could Shatter into different Shards, but Ibelieve that that WoB doesn't mention different people. Brandon talking about that Scadrial could have had it worse, because they got the one of the best possible Ruins make me think Intents were not related to the original Shardholders.
  17. I got my math wrong
  18. Wait. Either I got my math wrong or it isn't starting on 3 pm in your timezone?
  19. Oh Almighty. A Voidbinding form by merging with one of the Unmade? A godform, perhaps. That's what never clicked for me on Roshar: on Scadrial, metals coming directly from Shards function outside of the normal powerset. But on Roshar you have to actually bond a Splinter and special Splinters (godspren like Stormform) funtion inside the normal system. So maybe there is a godform already accounted for? Or maybe not.
  20. "cz" is a single sound ("ch" in "check") "si" is like a one and half sound. You can listen to somebody saying that word here: http://pl.forvo.com/word/sieczna/#pl (Click the "play" triangle) Well, the thing with weapons is that they're basically carved out of the mage's power. Once mage figures out the key action, which is changing default aura to the wanted one. If you were to take a sample of the aura of a corrosive mage and tried to apply it to something, it would act like a super acid. Fire mage's aura would burn things and so on. After that crucial step any spell, any magic performed by that mage would be elemental. For example, a spell to throw a fireball isn't going to differ much from a spell to throw a ice ball. Each mage after changing aura has a long time of programming their power ahead of them. Usually they make some protective parts, which range from partial armor on the joints (legs, arms) to full body armor. Weapon is done similarly - it's their concentrated power. Most of the time. Some apply various tricks. Like Angle's sword which doesn't simply warp angles in the space around it, but instead its edges are made to be infinitely close to zero angle. Actually that's where the name Soulsmiths comes from: they forge their own souls into weapons. Hence, blaksmiths of souls.
  21. I found out that "vector" comes from latin "vehere". "Vehere" would work as a nice name for a sword. But then when I was going through geometry pages on wikipedia I think I found it: "Secant". How does it work in English? What are the connotations? Because in Polish it's "sieczna" and shares a root with verb "siekać" which means "to cut". It's a pretty nice connected name.
  22. Yeah, it sees my name and takes suggestion to sleep over the problem of learning it xD
  23. So I recently realized that two things I believed about Compounding are not necessarily true: Metalmind is burned all at once, resulting in huge burst of power (probably coming from all that talk about bursts of power) What's released is Feruchemical power I am not sure about #2. I mean, now I'm thinking it results in release of the attribute, making the body heavier/faster/whatever and then that unusual state of heightened attribute is stored as Feruchemical power. Is there even any difference? Can somebody explain #2 to me and/or prove #1 false?
  24. I assume we're talking about CAC games?
