  1. Actually, if we could give Lift only one spike, a much better choice than Allomantic steel is Feruchemical steel. I mean, after she covers herself with Abrasion, she will continue to move as long as she has Stormlight. The only thing that counts is the initial speed and with Feruchemical steel that can be ridiculously high.
  2. I already did. I mean, it's the standard that people stay for the night and leave the next day; the thing about those 20-30 hour parties is because we never leave after breakfast, we always do more things and we find ourselves well into the day. I'd absolutely settle for a standard Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday party, but it's just there is no date for that. That's the problem. Usually if someone can go to Friday/Saturday there are good chances that Sunday is also free and if somebody can go to Saturday/Sunday there are good chances that their Friday is also free. The whole thing with the three day party is so that people could pop in at any of those three days, so that less people miss it. (Of course I would be thrilled if we all could do three days, but it's just not doable) Yeah, now I see I phrased it wrong in the previous post. The point is not that it has to be three days long, the point is that it could just happen. But right now there is no date so that enough of my close friends could be there; those more distant - of course I'd want them to be there, but their absence is not a dealbreaker. But if most of the closest ones can't go, I just won't throw this party.
  3. "Poland from sea to the sea" (Forgive me such a bad translation) Anyway, I'm trying to get my friends to agree on a single weekend so that I could finally throw a party (I'm trying to do that for two and half months now - I had birthday in the second half of June). Everyone has different timetables... I can't find a time when everyone is in the city and has all weekend free. Why all weekend? I want to try a three day long party; usually when we meet up our parties last about 20-30 hours (of course we get some sleep, but once we're up we go back to board games, gaming or bridge or anything). For a long time I wanted to do one with two sleepovers, since I have enough space to get everybody a couch or a bed. And we could play RPG one day and do the usual stuff for the next two. I start to think I won't be able to throw my birthday party at all...
  4. Hello! We have a forum for creative people, it's Creator's Corner. If you want to share or discuss over some loose ideas, I recommend "Creation Daily" thread. Also, stay away from theories' threads until you're up to speed with Cosmere Can I interest you in a peanut butter welcome cookie?
  5. No, that's... *checks translations*... uh-oh. That's blue cheese, but that kind is a special kind of cheese (it has to do with a special production process). But there is normal cheese (as in "yellow cheese") which can be in a different colour because of the various spices added to it. Green, blue (actual blue color. I think it was with lavender), orange and so on. If you're ever in Netherlands, buy some cheese. (I really like one with chili pepper). That blue cheese which @I_am_a_Stick posted is like that because of the mold: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mold#Food_production It's a special kind of mold, it's not actually rotten or anything.
  6. I think that there's a better line for that. To create more suspense and mystery: Ruin's voice should be additionaly creepy at that line. And it should sound like a whisper straight into ear.
  7. I'd suggested rereading that passage in BoM. Marasi remarks that "choc" is unlike the chocolate she ate. I guess that Northeners have dark chocolate and have not figured out various things you can do with that.
  8. It was confirmed that for a Shard to get a godmetal, it has to Invest in Scadrial: (spoilered for length) My question is: If a Shard has done enough to get a godmetal (like Trell did) does it mean that it has done enough for Mistborn to burn it and for Full Feruchemists to store/tap it? I guess that it does, since to use Hemalurgy you also need a proper Spiritweb make-up, but a confirmation would be nice. If the answer to that question is "yes", then did kandra try to find a full Feruchemist to check what it does? EDIT: Will Trell's Investing in Scadrial cause new magic system or systems to spawn? How much Shard has to do to cause something like that?
  9. I think it has to do with rapid expulsion of Stormlight. That's when the frost forms. I believe that the mist and moisture which cover Shardblades upon summoning is a similar phenomenon.
  10. @Mason Wheeler, I think that @AliasSheep wanted to say that you should mark your own creations. Also, this is not the place for fan-fiction. There is a subforum for that.
  11. @Argel, I feel that Brandon does not do such an in-head POV. He does more like an over-shoulder third-person narrator. So it's not truly from the inside of the character's head nor is it omnipotent narrator. So I read those passages as actually conveying what Adolin feels and thinks. I have to admit that I feel your use of the term "gimmick" is a little inappropriate, but that's not a vital thing to me
  12. That moment when you realize you forgot something. You remember well you were to do something and yet you can't remember what it was and it drives you insane. Fortunately, I finally remebered (the result is new topic in BoM subforum).
  13. Topic name: Storing non-powers Innate Investiture So, what we have seen done with nicrosil is only storing actual Metalborn powers. But we know that Spiritweb contains more Innate Investiture than just powers. First of all, Investiture makes humans sentient. Secondly, if you can steal it, you can store it: from Hemalurgy we know that much more is stealable: strength, senses, emotional stability, intelligence... Not to mention Paalm's chimaeras with what I guess to be animal attributes. I wonder what would happen if a Soulbearer were to store and later tap those parts of Spiritweb. It should be possible, however I can see it being more difficult to store than just powers. Discuss!
  14. Really?! Could you provide a source? I've searched theoryland and found nothing
  15. Majority of the questions belong rather to the "Ultimate List of Questions..." thread as we simply don't know. Vindication is not made of aluminium. I'm not sure we have a WoB on things encased in aluminium.
  16. @Landis963, yeah, of course there are differences, but the general idea is similar enough that I though you may benefit from some reference material ;P Minato had like three - four fights in the entire series, so it was very likely you'd hit that one. Minato is a mostly flashback character who died 12 years before the start of the series
  17. That's no coincidence. W&W books are written in more 'cinematic' way than original trilogy.
  18. I made a list of what I've wanted to do through holidays. Games to play through, books to read, TV series to watch, films to watch, things to do. The list is scarily long.
  19. I agree with @maxal. The scene is done that way to magnify the sense of shock - after all, glossing over details like "Adolin checked his clothes for blood" etc takes away from it. The way I see it is that Adolin's PoV in Oathbringer will contain retelling of the events in internal monologue to tell us what he did and what he didn't and what he isn't sure about. That way Brandon can do with it whatever he wants. If Adolin says he forgot the knife or left his lantern there, it fits. If Adolin says he meticulously cleaned up evidence, it fits. If he won't remember whether he checked Sadeas body for torn fragments of his Kholin uniform, it fits.
  20. Not if you look at it from the point of view of contemporal vorin society.
  21. One of the most badass characters in Naruto is widely feared because of exactly this (widely feared as unconditional order "if you see him, run"). He showers the area with knives with teleportation markings and can teleport between them. Combine that with high reaction time and he is capable of slaying a whole squadron. Look up "Minato".
  22. Found it: Since trellium is, indeed, of Trell... It implies Trell is a Shard we know. (And we know 9 at that point, three of which Shattered)
  23. I guess so. Only very, very old windows don't tilt at angle. Most of very old to new windows are like in the video.
  24. Just starting Mirror's Edge.
