  1. Technically it wouldn't be Shadesmar. Shadesmar is a region of the Cognitive Realm corresponding to Roshar. The theory that I ascribe to is that Cognitive Realm of Sel is dangerous do to the large amount of unbound investiture that is a result of the Splintering of Devotion and Dominion. Also, if I remember correctly Brandon has talked about how Jasnah prefers to enter the Cognitive Realm physically, and that we had seen someone else enter the Cognitive Realm physically as well. (This was before WoR) The only thing I can think that fits is the Elantrians in the Pool. With the new WoB that there is a "big clue" in Elantris and I think that it is pretty solid?
  2. And I think that is reason enough not to do it. I don't think the site wants to promote swearing, and I think that would?
  3. Feruchemists do not need to Snap, they can access there powers from birth. It is also an end-neutral magic, there is no investiture coming from an outside force as happens with allomancy or surgebinding which require "broken souls" so that the individual is open to such investiture. But that's just theory. Edit: [Disclaimer: These are my personal thoughts, I am not saying this and anything remotely official. This is by no means an official statement. Just ignore the "staff" in my profile, I am not acting as a moderator in this.] I'm sorry but this kind of comes across as rude? Crafty Games put a lot of work into the MAG and WoC so saying oh I don't want to play the game or pay for the books but I want to know everything in it? Hopefully that isn't what you meant. Even if you aren't going to play the game, they are still worth being bought, the e-copies are only 15 and 13 dollars respectively which really isn't that bad a price for the content. Again, perhaps I just read you wrong, I'm sorry if I did.
  4. The problem I see with this is the Heralds are significantly older than the time Returned have been returning. While an exact time is not given for when Vo, the first Returned, Returned, all indications point to it being significantly less than 4.5 thousand years ago, and we know the Heralds to be far older than that.
  5. Actually Shalash is her name, Ash is just a nickname. (source)
  6. Okay so last night was the second livestream:
  7. My own theory is that Shardpools facilitate transitioning to the other Realms (specifically the Cognitive Realm).
  8. Oh wow Feather, just glossed right over his mention of investiture didn't you xD
  9. Here ya go. It was created by a whole ton of people, (I'm not going to try to list them, but they are all in that link) and I am so impressed they were able to make this over the course of a week!
  10. Actually no, it wouldn't be east of the mountains, more like south of them. Looking at Aon Aon the chasm line starts at the bottom of the curve and goes to the down-left, Brandon drew it in a book a while back and I'm looking for it. (Brandon admits he described it wrong in the book) Edit: Here it is: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/4619-new-york-signing-report/?p=74283
  11. Thanks for sharing, but I"m going to lock this thread. (By the way thanks for posting this in the signing report thread as well)
  12. They have seasons. There are a couple of mentions of Luthadel getting snow during winter.
  13. Umm, not exactly. The Shards do not design the systems. The systems come about from the Realmatic interactions between the Shards and the planet they are invested in. There was no designing. Both 10 and 16 are significant numbers in the cosmere, that is going to manifest itself in the magics.
  14. Yeah we've tried to count them a couple of times and I've kept coming up with 35 as well. The only thought I have is maybe that number included Aether of Night, which is no longer canon? Edit: Actually, I've been told Liar and its sequel are included in the 7 Dragonsteel books. And I'm pretty sure it is just Liar/its sequel that are the prequels, not the entire Dragonsteel sequence since I think there is a several hundred year time jump in there. (Liar is the only thing confirmed to be pre-Shattering at this point, if I remember correctly)
  15. Yeah, if I remember correctly Brandon has said that he didn't describe where the Raoden drew the chasm line well/accurately enough. Back when he was planning to do a ten year anniversary edition he was planning on fixing that (I"m not 100% sure about that though, and it looks like the anniversary edition isn't going to happen). Also the map is just wrong.
  16. There is only one Cognitive Realm, just like there is only one Physical Realm. Shadesmar is a region of the Cognitive Realm that corresponds to the planet Roshar in the Physical Realm. Planets, and the Shards that Invest in them, each of unique Realmatic interactions. Spren are a part of how Roshar interacts Realmatically with Investiture, other planets do not interact in that way so there are no spren there (but there could be spren-like beings, such as the Seons on Sel). I wouldn't say spren are "masters of the Cognitive Realm", they are just a kind of being that lives there. Humans are not considered the masters of the Physical Realm after all.
  17. What do you mean by this? The Emperor's Soul is completely independent story-wise from Elantris, there are a couple easter eggs, but that's it.
  18. The King's Wit does whatever he storming well wants to, you offspring of a piece of wet slime and a disgusting crab thing with seventeen legs!
  19. Technically its Aonic ancestry not Arelish. Arelish is a nationality, Aonic is the ethnic group associated with Arelenes, Teos, and to an extent Dulas.
  20. Ooh I'm the King's Wit! Does this mean I have to/get to start insulting people now?
  21. Dominion. A while back, it has to have been months ago, there were a few of us in the chat and we all changed our names to those of Shards because we could and I chose Dominion, because it fits with my personality the best. I can be fairly bossy/controlling at times, sometimes I just want to do everything myself... If I could have a second shard as well, it would probably be Preservation.
  22. Liar (and its sequel?) take place pre-Shattering and is the prequel (Hoid and the original shardholders are characters in this). The "main" Dragonsteel sequence is set hundreds of years later, I believe.
  23. Should I feel guilty over feeling glee at Feather's reactions to a certain person's arm injury?
  24. Okay I think this is the right signing... But here is a question/answer realhitvz from tumblr got:
  25. Actually I vaguely remember Brandon being asked about this and he said there are systems with multiple shardworlds (aside from Greater Roshar) but that we hadn't necessarily seen them yet. And here is the WoB: (source)
