  1. The newest unlockable for the Shardhunt just went up and it is Isaac and Ben discussing the creation of the Whitespine page in Shallan's Sketchbook. I haven't read it yet, but I"m excited! http://brandonsanderson.com/shardhunt-wor/whitespine-process/
  2. I'm moving this to the cosmere theories forum, it is more relevant there. A couple things though, Leras (the holder of Preservation before Vin) was male, not female. I also sincerely doubt Cultivation is a shard combo, since WoB is that she and Honor arrived together on Roshar, many thousands of years ago. (And Endowment is still around)
  3. It is not. That is set on Ashyn, one of the other worlds in the Greater Roshar system.
  4. bum, bum, BUM... (It's already there)
  5. Okay theory time. Reya's Tear is the planet Ashyn and Reya is the holder of the Shard located there. It is described as being much brighter than the other stars, which if I remember correctly, is pretty common for planets since they are considerably closer to the observer. There is WoB that there was knowledge of the other planets in Roshar's past to it could be conceivably that "Reya's Tear" is a remnant of that knowledge.
  6. Ooh thanks for the audio! On a side note, I didn't think that it needed to be confirmed that Silence Divine was in the Greater Roshar system? (checking, yeah he confirmed it back in October 2010)
  7. The "These words are accepted" seems to be a pretty common thing that he's been putting in a lot of books he is signing, I'm not sure there is any hidden meaning/context to it.
  8. I am 95% sure this was asked by 17th Shard member Sweetness. (I'm reasonably sure since she said she would ask this for me) Also woohoo! The Adolin as Willshaper theory lives on! I am definitely of the opinion that aluminum=ralkalest. Perhaps someone should ask Brandon: "If a mistborn were to burn ralkalest, the unForgeable metal on Sel, would the rest of their metal reserves disappear?"
  9. I am reasonably confident that this refers to the appearance of Nightblood, which got moved form the epilogue to a couple chapters before. A little while back I think I mentioned it and Peter expressed confusion over it, that there wasn't a big cosmere thing in the epilogue. (This being after the book was written, while that original was from before)
  10. There is still the fact that Domi/Omin are both Aonic words while Dominion is an English one. They are faux amis, false cognates. It is nothing more than coincidence.
  11. It's just a coincidence. Domi as based of Aon Omi, which is an in-universe name. Dominion is the English, out-of-universe, name of the shard, inhabitants would know it as whatever the word for Dominion is in their language. Also it just doesn't fit thematically at all. Shu-Korath, which worships Domi, is focused on unification through love, i.e. Devotion. Shu-Dereth, which worships Jaddeth, is the one that is focused on unification through obedience, i.e. Dominion.
  12. Can't be, they have to have an imbalance of Preservation/Ruin, otherwise they wouldn't be sentient. Anyway, I am firmly of the belief that the "a lot more Preservation than normal" has more to do with the allomancer's strength than actually making them an allomancer? I.e. mistings are mistings because they have the allomantic gene in their sDNA, same with feruchemists, they are feruchemists because they have that gene.
  13. Thanks for sharing! But this really isn't the place for signing reports, would you mind going to the Events forum and posting in the thread for the signing you went to?
  14. Nitpick for the first one, the glyphs aren't "Alethi", the Alethi just use them. Like how our writing system isn't called the "english script" or something similar, it is called the latin script, English is just one of the languages that use it. Same on Roshar other lanuages (namely Veden, which is a different language from Alethi) use the glyphs and the women's script (which also isn't Alethi). For the second one, the ketek was written by Navani to describe the everstorm and highstorm meeting, I sincerely doubt there is anymore. (source)
  15. don't know if this helps at all. Just saw it and thought this info could help someone. Yeah, that WoB is definitely in reference to the Misted Mountains, but I highly doubt that is the hidden thing since that has been known about for years.
  16. Yeah, I saw that, totally meant to mention that. And actually both would be nice? (edit the OP for ease of access, post a reply so the "new posts in this thread" thing shows up)
  17. Has it anything to do with the fact that Brandon has said Plate Tectonics are not a factor on the super-continent?
  18. Generally we like to have one thread per signing that has all the discussion and signing reports (it makes it easier on those of us who add stuff to the interview database), but I don't know if there is already one for this signing (checking...) and there is.
  19. A request, could you please post the signing reports in the Events forum, that is where they are supposed to go.
  20. The third worldhopper there is nicknamed "Blunt" and he is from White Sand, an unpublished cosmere novel (that Brandon will send you if you send him an email requesting it). Ishikk is a native Purelaker. I also doubt that Jasnah is the author of the Ars Arcana, since she would not have been alive to write those for the Mistborn trilogy.
  21. Actually the Shaod can affect anyone with Aonic blood (Arelenes, Teos, Dulas) they just have to be in Arelon at the time.
  22. Hehe... I would go with the coppermind wiki, it has the correct information on this. It is the wiki that is actually partnered with the 17th Shard and it is awesome (not to mention significantly more reliable and accurate and all around better), you should all work on it! All Hail the Coppermind! WeiryWriter totally isn't biased about this... And I still want Shallan and Renarin to ultimately end up together but I'm kind of glad it isn't working out well at this point? Like I'm more interested in seeing Shallan grow and evolve and come to respect/like Renarin over a period of time.
  23. There *is* going to be a time jump between the front and back fives, plenty of time for juicy backstory.
  24. I'm not sure if I would count that as definitive proof.
  25. It's from quite a while back, I don't know where the WoB is. It is definite that they are pronounced differently, Ruin Ati is probably pronounced like "ah-tee" or "a-tee" but Aon Ati is pronounced "ay-teye". Both Joe and Windy have mentioned have mentioned them being pronounced differently.
