  1. That is kinda odd how we've had no Venli chapters or any flashbacks. I'm pretty sure there were flashback chapters in the part ones of the other books.
  2. I wonder how emotional Allomancy plays into this. Do spren still get attracted by suppressed emotions or does that keep them away? Do even more spren get attracted when emotions are inflamed by Allomancy?
  3. He clearly never spent any time learning how to keep women.
  4. So progressive of the Unmade to hyphenate like that, shows real dedication to the relationship.
  5. Actually, no seeing someones future is more like Atium than either of those. Gold - see a past version of yourself that could have been Electrum - see a future version of yourself(I've never been clear on how far you can reach into the future, what we've seen seems like it goes about as far as Atium) Atium - see future versions of people/moving objects around you Malatium - see a past version of other people that could have been I'd say that what Renarin did was closest to Malatium, though like others have said it could be a potential future as well.
  6. I firmly believe the Unmade that was influencing Shallan's family is Dai-Gonarthis. What happened to them doesn't seem like any of the other Unmade we've seen and the other Unmade besides Dai-Gonarthis that we haven't seen is The Dustmother. Which sounds to me more like a death and destruction kind of Unmade rather than a makes people do dark and terrible things kind of Unmade.
  7. To be a bit more specific if anyone still didn't find it; go to The Way of Kings Kickstarter page and there's a blue button that says "Want this book? Cick here!" and that is what's called the backerkit store. Even though the campaign is over, they're still offering everything you could buy through the campaign including the Dawnshard ebook or even a physical copy if you want one. However, the physical copy will not be available as early as the digital copy which Brandon is trying to get out before RoW.
  8. I'd say Lightweaver fits him best because it doesn't involve making Oaths that might restrict his choices. Progressing as a Lightweaver is mostly about self-awareness and Hoid seems pretty self-aware.
  9. The expression might have come from a non Vorin locale, Shallan does like to borrow from people.
  10. Hmmm. I recall they handled Moash and Graves' Shards but can't recall to what extent. They couldn't use lashings on any of it obviously and I recall them bundling it all up somehow. I've been wondering when we'll see some Shardbearers on the Singer side, they've got at least 3 sets of Plate and possibly 3 Blades(I can't recall if they got Eshonai's Blade or not). They've likely taken more since then. If anything, they'll have loyal humans/non Fused Singers wield them.
  11. He may release another chapter or two as a sample, but I don't think they have a planned thing like with RoW. We're supposed to get the ebook for Dawnshard before RoW, but that still depends on Brandon getting it completed in a timely fashion. He's usually good at sticking to a schedule but he's not perfect. I don't recall there being any pre-release sample chapters for Edgedancer, but I wasn't really looking for them at the time.
  12. Man I've been wishing I could get the score for the Stormlight Graphic Audio books for a while. I don't know why but I really like depressed Kaladin/Dalinar brooding song.
  13. I really haven't been a fan of Brandon's works in graphic novel format. So far it has only been the three parts of White Sand and The Dark One and I've only truly enjoyed part three of White Sand. And that was only because the resolution that happens after Kenton's duel in the prose was very rough and part three was where they cleaned it up. The other two were just abridged versions of the prose with the worldbuilding replaced by, in my opinion, poor illustrations. The Dark One didn't really grab me either, but I may just not be a fan of a story getting chopped up into smaller segments that seems to be common in Graphic Novel formats, so the jury's still out on that one. I just don't feel that Brandon's writing style is currently suited to the graphic novel format, but maybe with time it will get better.
  14. Shardblades don't damage the spiritual ideal, otherwise Knights Radiant wouldn't be able to heal those wounds. So, no I don't think F-aluminum would play into this. Nicrosil compounders might be able to do something, but I'm not sure.
  15. Correct me if I'm wrong, maybe there's a WOB I missed somewhere, but isn't silver what they're using to ward away shades and heal their wounds? I'd bet aluminum would be effective at warding away the shades and maybe stopping the cancerous effect of their touch, but they're still using silver on Threnody right? Just seems to me that we've never seen Investiture decay the aluminum the way shades do to Silence's protective ring and the silver seems to be consumed in the process of healing the wounds. As for Shardblades, I don't think that would heal the wound. It's cutting your spirit and aluminum seems to be mostly about countering Investiture. Though, I do wonder if burning aluminum could help ward away attacks that use investiture. It could be another way of stopping someone who's using emotional allomancy on you.
  16. Forgot she met Kaladin, nevermind.
  17. What about Danlan, the scribe who courted Adolin and was part of Graves's group? Was she the scribe that made fun of Renarin and Shallan told off? I think she was, but her coppermind page ends at WoR. If I'm right, I think she's still among the scholars at Urithiru. But, she may have decided to offer her services to Ialai now that all her Diagram cohorts were killed/ran off.
  18. Well, you may be able to pierce your own coppercloud if you became an A-Bronze savant. At least, assuming becoming a savant in bronze increases your strength. It's possible you might even be able to pierce it by simply flaring bronze and not flaring copper.
  19. I believe Odium himself orchestrated Gavilar's murder. The eventual results of that murder are the motivation. The Alethi needed to be goaded into going to war with the Parshendi. That war eventually drove them to summon the Everstorm which was the catalyst for the new Desolation. He had to act through one of his servants, and Yelig-Nar is a good candidate.
  20. "Earth names" is a bit too general, I think you mean traditional western/Christian names. Also, Threnody has some as well; Chesterton and William Ann Montane for example.
  21. I mean we're pretty close to the point where Stormlight Archive is pop culture. It even has it's own meme subreddit already.
  22. I think both improve balance, but in subtlety different ways. Kinda similar to how iron and steel both allow you to manipulate metals, but in different ways. I think there was an older thread about this that I participated in. I think I looked at what contributes to a humans ability to balance and found there were multiple components to it. My guess was that the different metals contributed to different factors that affect balance and therefore both had the potential to improve it.
  23. Ironically I thought of the Joker in The Dark Knight, Loki in the first Avengers movie, Luke did it twice in Return of the Jedi, and Rey did it in The Last Jedi. Letting yourself get taken prisoner to get inside your enemies stronghold is a common tactic.
  24. It occurs to me that each Truth Shallan has spoken has been further back in her past than the last. First - "I'm terrified" Second - "I killed my father" Third - "I killed my mother." I'm assuming the next Truth will have something to do with when she was originally exploring her bond as a young child.
  25. I wouldn't say it HAS to be Odium's spren. It's just as likely that it's a spren equally of both Shards.
