  1. Ah forgot about that. I wonder if they could Hemalurgically spike the trait out of a Rosharan to give it to the terrispeople. Though Harmony doesn't seem to like using Hemalurgy, so if that was one of his people it's unlikely that they would use that.
  2. I think it was just something they put in their eyes to make their eyes lighter, like Tyn suggested Shallan use to make her eyes darker. Shallan wondered if there was something that did the reverse, there likely is.
  3. In the end of WoK, Kaladin used too much Stormlight while trying to get Bridge 4 to the chasm to save Dalinar and his army. He had to swear the 2nd Ideal to overcome the negative effects of using as much Stormlight as he did. I believe we've also seen Szeth and Kaladin freezing their clothing from using large amounts of Stormlight. So it's mostly a problem for Radiants that are on the earlier Ideals, Honorblade wielders, and possibly even Soulcasters. I would guess that Szeth had a lot of training to make sure he knew the limits of the Honorblades. We haven't really seen Moash cut loose with the Honorblade, otherwise I'd think he'd run up against that limit, could be something we see in book 5.
  4. I don't think that's the case. I'm 99% certain that when Venli narrowly avoided becoming a Fused, Ulim said that her friends' souls had gone into the Beyond and they were completely irretrievable. Ulim is a proven liar, but I'd need to see that disproven before I believe otherwise.
  5. I'm not really questioning that she has the body of a male, I'm just wondering why it seems certain things shift to her spiritual ideal like the skin patterns while other things such as the beard do not. I'm guessing that either there are limitations on what the Fused can change about the bodies they inhabit or they don't always choose to change their entire bodies to match their spiritual ideal. Or there's something about Stormlight that allows people to match their physical body to their spiritual ideal where Voidlight is more limited.
  6. I wonder if she'd even need to be Radiant to transition. The Fused seem to be able to heal wounds with Voidlight much like Radiants do with Stormlight. When they take over a new body the skin patterns change to match how the Fused see themselves. Why not the genitalia?
  7. Something to note: there has been a death rattle for each of Kaladin's oaths so far, so it's likely his 5th Oath is predicted in one of the other deathrattles. The Shardcasters(Evgeni in particular) think this is the most likely one:
  8. I know you've been resisting the idea, but I think Brandon himself confirmed it on the most recent livestream.
  9. Between Lightweavers being weird, Shallan being weird herself, and the First Ideal being weird, it's going to prove difficult for anyone to make an agrument about which Ideal level she has progressed to without an opening for someone else to contest it. The First Ideal is said to be the same for every order, but Kaladin for example had never heard it before Teft mentioned it and he had been Surgebinding before then. Also, Lightweavers require truths, not oaths, so does the first ideal even count in terms of measuring how far along in their bond they are? We havn't seen any of the Lightweavers swear this oath or say it onscreen that I recall. There is a bunch of random Shallan stuff that is either odd or doesn't make sense. First, she needed a living Shardblade to activate the Oathgate at the end of WoR. Unless there is some reason she was able to circumvent that problem and was able to use Testament, she had to of been at Third Ideal level with Pattern. Though maybe being at Third Ideal level with Testament enabled her to summon Pattern earlier than she should have been able to, that's the only thing I can think of(I think someone asked a question about this on the most recent livestream and it got RAFO'd). Second, I believe the voice she hears in The Way of Kings when she makes her initial foray into Shadesmar is not Pattern's. It's possible his changed when he was pulled into the physical realm, but it's odd. Third, Shallan's Shardblade does not scream when Kaladin touches it in the chasms. If it is Testament, it could be that his bond with Syl was weak enough to the point that touching a deadblade didn't scream in his head. But their bond was not completely dead and the blade did have a Cryptic pattern on it where no other deadblades did. Not to mention all of what we know about deadblades is based on the fact that their original Knight is dead where Shallan is not. Too many contradictions for my taste, but I'm really interested to see what people speculate and what the eventual answer to this will be. Personally, I think answering how the First Ideal for Lightweavers works would answer most of these questions. If it counts, then Shallan was using Pattern in the chasms and the Oathgate. If it doesn't, then she had to of been using Testament. Brandon seems to want this one to be speculated on, so I doubt we'll get anything out of him with direct questions on it but maybe we can get some of the smaller bits answered in that upcoming Reddit AMA.
  10. Better yet, what if Ishar/Nale knew but didn't tell anyone. Nale's mission from Ishar was to prevent the Radiant orders from returning by killing any people in the process of forming a Nahel Bond. The supposed reason being that if they reformed the orders, another Desolation would come. But, we never got the basis for that reasoning if there ever was any. Either way, they arrived at the conclusion that the Radiant orders should not be allowed to re-form. What if they initially decided the orders needed to end as well? The Recreance was extremely effective at not only convincing mankind that Radiants and their powers could not be trusted, but also convincing spren that mankind cannot be trusted and that they could end up dead if they tried to form Nahel Bonds.
  11. Ok, the returning to the point of origin upon summoning and dismissal is conjecture, but it's unlikely Shallan has summoned Testament in a long time. So, the part about her being contained and that's why she hasn't been there at the various times where Shallan has transitioned into the Cognitive realm is still valid.
  12. Elegy is right, spren in the Cognitive realm can restrain/contain deadeyes from following their bondholders if they want to. The captain of the Reacher ship in OB kept his dead father in a closet IIRC. It's likely that when summoned and dismissed the deadeye returns to wherever they were in the Cognitive realm before they were summoned, so they always return to wherever another spren has them confined.
  13. There are a couple of things that make me certain Cultivation has a contingency plan. First, I believe Cultivation either was controlling or set up a specific pattern of Taravangian's boon/curse. It seemed too convenient that he was in the perfect state needed for him to take up the Shard of Odium, there is an intelligent design behind when he was smart and dumb. Second, I believe he still is subject to that boon/curse even as Odium. Some believe that it's just gone now, but if it was a part of his Spirit Web, it's likely still with him just like Sazed was still able to access his metalminds after Ascending because it was still a part of his Spirit Web. I'm not sure how Cultivation could use that, but based on the fact that Taravangian always commented that his intelligence and passion had an inverse relationship, it could prove to be very useful in dealing with him. It's possible if he tries to pull something she could make him completely passionless and it might be enough to separate him from the shard or weaken him substantially.
  14. Yea, that sounds right. I think Brandon did say that what Dalinar does with the perpendicularity is a new thing for someone bonded to the Stormfather.
  15. Didn't Kaladin join the Kholin household, but with the surname "Stormblessed"? The tower/crown/spear could just be his house glyph.
  16. He was also using the ability to send his Tukari into Shadesmar to kidnap spren for his experiments. There are three other ways they could have gotten in and out of Shadesmar; Cultivations perpendicularity, an Oathgate, and an Elsecaller. The first isn't viable, the Horneater peaks are just too far from Tukar to make any logistic sense. The second isn't viable either for the same reason, no Oathgate in Tukar. And the third is unlikely considering what Ishar is doing with those spren and how resistant every Inkspren besides Jasnah's has been to the idea of new Nahel bonds. They don't like the possibility that they could become a deadeye, I don't see them appreciating what Ishar is doing any more than that. I find it far more likely that Ishar has the ability to open the perpendicularity with his Honorblade than the possibility he's got one or more Elsecallers on staff and willing to participate in his expieriments. No Radiant spren would condone what's happening there and continue a bond that is enabling it even if it means becoming a deadeye.
  17. Well, technically there are 4 when you count Ishar/Ishar's Honorblade. Also, as we saw with certain WoBs in RoW, Brandon will lie to us, they are not 100% truths. He doesn't do it often, but he very much misled the community with his statements on the black sphere and some Shallan stuff that had to do with her previously unknown bond to Testament. It could be that there were only three Radiant Bondsmiths in the past, but something could happen in the future to change that. I thought that as well, but Ishar opened one just using his Honorblade at the end of RoW. It looks like that's just a Bondsmith thing, though it still seems like it's tough to do.
  18. I quoted the user named Dawnshard(not the story), it's the third comment. Someone else answered me saying there's some theory that there will be a Bondsmith for each type of light. Stormfather: Stormlight Nightwatcher: Lifelight Sibling: Towerlight Ba-Ado-Mishram: Voidlight (I'm guessing this is the proposed Odium Bondsmith because it's pure Voidlight, but I'm not sure, it's not my theory) Other Unmades/Godspren?: Various Light combinations Not sure what I think about that, seems like too much to happen in book 5 though maybe there will be something happening with that in the back half. Though it is worth noting that in order for Ishar to be sane for whatever he's trying to get Dalinar to do, one or more Bondsmiths may need to swear Oaths in succession so he can be sane long enough to accomplish whatever sane Ishar thinks they can do. So, I'm guessing we're at least getting a Nightwatcher Bondsmith and/or a Dalinar advancement to the 4th Ideal.
  19. There's also the fact that humans can't handle massive amounts of Stormlight without consequences, though that gets better as the bond progresses to new ideals. Even with the 5th Ideal, there is probably a limit to how much Stormlight a Radiant could handle before they start looking like Kaladin did before swearing the 2nd Ideal at the end of WoK. I have a feeling Heralds have no such limit
  20. Yes, however with the Lightweavers being a huge exception. There's a general theme/format to each oath, but they can be different in subtle ways depending on the person. Lightweavers are obviously tailored to the specific person and their Truths.
  21. Era 1 has a more cohesive and self contained story, but Era 2 has much better character writing and dialogue in my opinion. I'd give the edge to Era 2, but it's real close.
  22. I have a feeling Shallan and Mraize will both be looking for Ba-Ado-Mishram and they'll have some sort of confrontation that will determine who gets her. But given that Brandon said he needs to get the next Mistborn series in before the second half of SA, they'll most likely be involved in that arc as well. Whether Mraize is still alive or his death is a catalyst for a greater conflict between the Ghostbloods and the Radiants(or at least Shallan/the Lightweavers) remains to be seen. I'm curious to see who/what Mraize brings to the fight. Could be we get an Allomancer vs Knight Radiants sooner than we thought.
  23. You have 3 Bondsmiths from the three Godspren, 1 from the Honorblade and 1 from a proposed Odium Bondsmith. How did you get to 7?
  24. Ah, yea the Hoid chapter was almost completely lost on me initially. In my last push to finish the book, I stayed up until 3am and just couldn't quite process what I was reading at that point. I only realized some of the more important bits when they were discussed here. I guess that's another bit that went right over my head.
  25. I've seen people saying Cultivation is a dragon. I'm guessing I was just shell-shocked from some other crazy thing happening in the book, but where did we learn that fact?
