  1. I didn't mean all spren, I mean the intelligent spren like Syl. I'm pretty sure they confirmed that Syl was created by Honor in OB
  2. Oathbringer definitely turned a lot of what we know own its head. To my understanding, Roshar was first created by Adonalsium. I think Parsh have always been able to change forms, so Adonalsium created at least some of the spren too. I'm not really sure whether the Parsh originally had access to the surges but, I think it's likely. At some point, Honor and Cultivation showed up and if the reveals in Oathbringer are true, I don't think they created any humans. I think they made spren instead. Instead, the humans on Roshar came from another planet, which I'm guessing can't be Braize if they destroyed the one they came from. The Arcanum Unbounded indicated that humans created from Shard are actually less common than people who came from Yolen, so it could be that the humans on Roshar can interact with various types of Investiture like Hoid. The magic system is a tangle because of the chaos this planet has seen. This isn't as simple as Mistborn where we had a planet and people created entirely by the two shards that are opposite in intent. Scadrial really is Harmony compared to Roshar.
  3. I think that the Parsh(as I guess we are calling them all now) have access to the 10 Surges because they are from Roshar. Odium is fueling their forms with his power like Vasher uses Stormlight to keep himself alive. You can use Investiture from one Shard to fuel the magic system of another shard. I guess the question would be, what could men do on the original planet that was destroyed when they were with Odium? I also think it's worth mentioning that Roshar is much different than any other situation we have encountered, more so than I thought before. I believe that bonding with spren to gain access to the surges has been there since the Adonalsium days. Honor and Cultivation were subsumed by that system instead of having their own specific magic systems. Though, I think Honor strengthens the bonds because of the honorable intent of an Oath.
  4. The way I interpreted events was that the emperor never died, his mind wasn't functional but his physical body was still alive. So his tie to the physical realm was still there and his soul was still attached to it, but his presence in the cognitive realm was the issue. And that is what was fixed. Although Shae is constantly talking about fixing his soul, that wasn't really what she was fixing. One could argue that Shae is indeed manipulating the soul, but that the results of that manipulation affect the emperor in the cognitive realm. Either way, it wasn't his soul that was damaged, it was his mind. So, he will pass to the Great Beyond when the forgery dies most likely, barring some sort of cognitive shadow business.
  5. "“Then what kind of God is He? What good is a God like Him, Marasi? Tell me that.” Marasi fidgeted, then she sighed and took the strange spike back. She dropped something else onto the table as she rose. A small earring, just a stud with the back bent over. “They sent this for you.” - Shadows of Self Vin nodded, then paused, reaching up to her ear. “My earring,” she said. “I’ll have to stop wearing it.” “Does it have a clip on the back?” Kelsier asked. Vin shook her head. “It’s just a small stud, and the pin on the back bends down.” Mistborn: The Final Empire Seemed pretty clear to me that they had given Wax the earring Vin had.
  6. Didn't Wax receive the earring in SoS or Bom? Can't remember which one, but I remember him using his earring on Bleeder and they offered him Vin's earring to talk with Harmony. So, that earring is still in play. My biggest wonder about it was how did Vin's mom kill a baby with it and retrieve it out the other side? The thing was described as a small spike but it surely can't be big enough to kill even a baby without using iron or steel pushing and I'm pretty confident her mom didn't have either power.
  7. Hmmm so I'm guessing the Heralds cannot be harmed either. Though we know so little about them so that's not a solid guess.
  8. This begs the question of whether or not Shardblades can harm the Unmade....
  9. I believe the audiobooks that mention it pronounce it "Realm-atics." I'll admit i first read it as "Real-matics" but realm makes more sense because it's a theory about the three different realms; Physical, Cognitive, Spiritual.
  10. I don't know if you have read Hero of Ages but spoilers below if you have not. http://coppermind.net/wiki/Leras That pretty much explains why Preservation as the Mists did what he did. The Deepness was really just part of a story TLR used to hide what really happened 1000 years before.
  11. If I remember correctly, the original audio book actually got the "Hunkey Kay" thing right though, I can see how people can misinterpret the pronunciation the other way. It's good to know these changes were initiated by Brandon thank you for answering that.
  12. I started listening to the audiobook this week and A LOT of the pronunciations are different from the previous version I listened to. I'm not sure and would like to know why, if anyone knows. I'm guessing either Brandon didn't have enough clout back when the old one was recorded and couldn't provide his preffered pronunciations and did so this time or he has little time to micro manage something like that at the moment and Jack Garret/Tor just winged it without reffering back to the previous recording. I will say that it is quite annoying adjusting to the new pronunciations but would be less so if I knew which version was preffered by Brandon.
  13. I seem to remember Dalinar remarking on how Gavliar hated lending his shardplate and blade to duelists in line with that tradition. I think its just now that Gavilar/Elhokar are king over the other high princes they are the sole leaders who have to take part in the tradition as princes are technicly subserviant to the king.
  14. Helaran is definitly aligned with the Sky Breakers. Shallan/Helaran's dad was aligned with the Ghostbloods as he somehow got a soul caster from them. Amaram is aligned with the Sons of Honor as he wishes to return the voidbringers which the Sky Breakers headed by Nalan clearly do not want and the ghostbloods in WoR are trying to spy on him so clearly he isn't with them. Either there's ANOTHER secret society that Helaran belongs too which after the Ghostbloods, Skybreakers, and Sons of Honor seems like there would be too many for there to be any more than those.
  15. This is just a thought but Honor seems to be associated with stone and in Shadesmar the purelake is a mountain. Maybe it's Honor's shardpool? Also as to the WOB about devotions shardpool I think he might have been refering to the people who don't know alot about shardpools and just assumed its a suicide pool where elantrians go to die?
  16. I was recently doing a reread(or rather a re-listen as im doing the audiobook) of Well of Ascension and I noticed a weird mistake. At some point after Vin discovers the mist spirit and is sensing the Well of Ascension(though she doesn't know it) and she asks Clubs to burn bronze and see if he senses anything which he replies that he doesn't. But Clubs is definitly a smoker so he shouldn't be able to burn bronze. I'm guessing it's an error and I'm pretty sure it isn't just on the audio file as sometimes things get mispronounced but never something on this scale.
