  1. Tapping connection can make your spirit web think you were born in the same land as the people around you, allowing you to speak their language to some degree. However, it does not rewrite your past like Forgery does. Rewriting your past with Forgery makes it so that as long as you are stamped, you have different knowledge and capabilities than you would unstamped. Using your scenario, tapping connection on Earth while around a bunch of American sports fans would make it so you can understand English, but you wouldn't know anything more about the sport they are a fan of. Conversely, if you made a Soul Stamp that rewrote your past so that at an earlier age you encountered and became a fan of the sport in question, you would be able to talk sports with those people. Although, I'm unsure of how much research you'd have to do on the sport beforehand to make a valid Soul Stamp.
  2. Hmmm maybe what Moash did is closer to trapping a spren in a gemstone than Hemalurgy. Both of them are kind of similar now that I think about it, though Hemalurgy usually involves killing the person and ripping the relevant bits off their spiritweb while fabrials are created by trapping a sentient piece of Investiture in a gemstone. In this case, he killed a person and then trapped the "sentient piece of investiture," Jezrien's Soul/Cognitive Shadow, which is kinda similar to, but definitly not Hemalurgy. Though I could see how people in universe could lump them together.
  3. To me, it seems like WoK and WoR work well as a pair, with WoK setting up alot of the plot threads that converge in the end of WoR. On the other hand, OB seems to set up and converge a lot of plot lines within the same book, making it more standalone at the same time it feels like a roller coaster. From what Brandon has said, Book 4 is going to resemble WoK in structure, which could mean that it and Book 5 will work as a pair as well. Which would fit the whole symmetrical theme in the Stormlight books.
  4. I'm not sure the god-metals in Hemalurgy work how you're saying. On the table, Atium says "Steal any power" while Lerasium says "Steal all abilities." It's confirmed that Atium can steal any single power, which I think is most relevant for non Scadrial magic systems, I'm unsure if there are non god-metals that can steal from those. Brandon has been somewhat close lipped on Lerasium spikes, mostly he gives the feeling that they're wasteful/inefficient uses of the god-metal. However, I feel the distinction between powers and abilities is distinct and intentional. Looking at the Hemalurgic table, there are two general types of things that the various types of metal can steal; Allomantic/Feruchemical powers and the specific traits that the Kandra call Blessings that are mainly used to make Hemaluric constructs. It stands to reason that "abilities" refers to those traits. If that's true, I don't really know what a Lerasium spike would be good for beyond making a Kandra with additional Blessings without killing as many people. Might be interesting if you could create a Koloss with at least one of his spikes being Lerasium, it could help them retain more of their humanity while maintaining the strength they have. Either way, we should learn more about some of the other god-metals' part in Hemalurgy soon. I'm guessing Brandon will reveal more about Bleeder's spikes at some point and that thing with Jezrien at the end of Oathbringer seemed like it might be Hemalurgy with Odium's god-metal.
  5. The only one I can think of is maybe an electrum alloy that allows you to see a future version of yourself similar to how gold lets you see a past version of yourself. It's also possible that Bleeder was using an alloy of Atium to communicate with Wax while he had his Hemalurgic spike in similar to how Ruin would talk to people in Era 1. That could also be related to the new metal her spikes were made of or something completely unrelated that she learned in TLR's service, so I'm less sure of that one.
  6. From my understanding, burning it didn't make it go away. Matter/energy cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed or transferred. What Ruin would have done with it had he found it and what happens to it after burning it, I do not know. But, based on what happened and how he reacted to Marsh finding it all used, it was temporarily inaccessible. There are probably some relevant WoBs on what happens to Investiture after it is used, my best guess is there's a limbo period after it has been used but hasn't returned to the relevant Shard's accumulation of Investiture.
  7. Also, this could be why Hoid attempted to get close with Shallan and Elhokar, he wanted to form connection with them to get a better chance at bonding their Cryptics or the other ones that were observing them.
  8. Ah I get it, it's kinda like on Amazon where they suggest they buy things similar to the thing you're looking at. "Spren have also considered bonding this human, would you like to add it to your cart?"
  9. Pretty much all of the main character Radiants have one similarity; they had siblings that were proto Radiants. For most of them, that sibling was a big part of their motivation/mindset that leads them to become Radiants. Kaladin: Tien was confirmed to be a proto Lightweaver and Kaladins inability to save him was quite obviously a huge part of his fight to save Bridge 4. Dalinar: Gavilar was a potential Bondsmith candidate and was receiving the same visions the Stormfather later sent to Dalinar. Dalinar's inability to save him led him on his path to unify Alethkar. Shallan: Helaran was attempting to join the Skybreakers, his abandonment and eventual death to Kaladin is what sent Shallan on her quest for truth. Venli: Eshonai was definitely on her way to bonding Timbre and the callous way Odium & Co treated her death and her people was a big part of what set her on whatever path she is on now(we'll obviously know more about that come next November). Jasnah: Elhokar was just so close to becoming a Lightweaver(and earning our respect as readers) when his untimely death occurred. This one is the stretch in my examples here, but I have a feeling his death leading to Jasnah's ascension to the throne will be a big part of her future POV chapters. Now I'm not sure if Brandon is trying to do something with this, but 5/10 of our main protagonists having such similar situations cannot be a coincidence. I wouldn't be surprised if when we get Lyft and Szeths POVs, they have a proto-Radiant relative in their life that has a massive impact on their motivations as characters. Renarin and the two Heralds are the odd ones out, but who knows what their POVs will contain? Maybe Adolin will die on the verge of becoming a Radiant.
  10. Oh, they were probably attracted to Taravangian and the whole Diagram plot too. They were actively kidnapping and killing people and lying about it as well as carrying out a deception that he was an unintelligent person.
  11. They were attracted to all the lies Shallan was telling to Jasnah and others while she was in Kharbranth. I think once she was truthful they weren't attracted to her anymore and found other people. And then she left Kharbranth and they didn't follow her.
  12. Wow, did not know that, I really hope we see that combination now. That's a real game changer for the more powerful Sand Masters who can't really utilize their ability to master a lot of ribbons for extended periods without dehydrating themselves.
  13. Ah I forgot Hoid is supposed to be a main character of Era 4, that makes sense now.
  14. If only there was a Feruchemical metal that allowed you to store hydration similar to how bendalloy can store nutrition, that would be immensely useful to a Sand Master. Maybe Soulcasting would be the best option there, but it would be difficult to make use of that on Taldain with all that Invested sand being resistant to Soulcasting.
  15. Has Brandon confirmed that Mistborn Era 4 is the final set of books in the Cosmere? I had always imagined there would be a final book/series that brings everything together for some sort of conclusion made up of relatively equal parts of every series kinda like an Avengers movie. Either that or a book from Hoid's POV involving characters from the various locales of the various series.
  16. Yea, I had a rather expensive and clearly labeled gaming PC shipped through them a couple months back and the box had a massive dent in it, luckily the packaging was sufficient. Say what you will about Amazon, their shipping game is on point.
  17. Same here, but I think I shot myself in the foot. I had it delivered to work instead of home due to fear of package thieves and they changed the shipping method last minute when(I'm assuming) they realized they can't use Fedex Home Delivery for a business address and went UPS instead. Luckily enough, I'm Jewish so it might still show up before Chanukah ends, fingers crossed.
  18. Hey did anyone else's get shipped yet? I still have not received notification of shipment.
  19. Some speculate that copper compounding is the secret to TLR's rumored perfect memory. They make mention of how TLR might recognize Dockson(who had been caught in some sort of scheme prior to TFE) because he had a perfect memory and that's why he can't be their spy with the nobility.
  20. I thought that the thing with the metal was just the fact that is was Soulcast instead of mined, had something to do with Stone Shamanism, never connected that with Scadrial.
  21. What exactly did you mean when you referred to him as a Hemalurgist then? Just that he preforms a lot of Hemalurgy but doesn't necessarily have any Hemalurgic spikes?
  22. Those WoBs are pretty confusing. The footnote in the first one(which happened a while before the second one you quoted) says he later clarified that they were not hemalurgic spikes. The second one has a footnote that claims he has said they were Hemalurgic spikes in the past but I had researched this a while ago and the first WoB is the only one touched on it, which leads me to believe the footnote on the second one is wrong. And before you come at me with the Ruin influence thing, he didn't have to have spikes for Ruin to influence him. I think it's more likely that he was mentally unstable and over time his soul developed the cracks that let Ruin in. It probably didn't happen right away, but I can see someone living as long as he did slowly going insane and becoming susceptible to Ruin's influence.
  23. We know Nightblood can perma kill a Fused, never thought about Azure's sword though.
  24. Spook's descendants aren't the only ones who can use Allomancy. People can still inherit Allomantic powers from any ancestors that were descended from nobles from Era 1 and I think people can just snap too(Southern Scadrians have Allomancy, just not a lot), no noble/Spook bloodline needed. However, Spook's descendants are much more likely to have Allomancy, which is why they were targetted for the breeding program in AoL. Otherwise, the rest of your analogies seem to work.
