The Longest Thread (Misadventures)

"Woah, easy!" Rue said. "These are my friends! They're not doing anything wrong!"

[ThroughTheLivingSequence she/her/they/them]

"How sad." Everyone pointed at one, and it's brain promptly exploded in it's head. "Oooh, satisfying."

[Immortal Platypus]

Suddenly the Root Dragon comes flying back into the room. With a mighty exhalation, he floods the room in Root. Luckily for all of us, the root cultists (including Aes sedai) drink it all before we drown. Then I lunge at the beast with my Blade as I call for Unintelligible to help me slay the Dragon.

“STOP!” Rue shouts, Keefe style. Everyone freezes. “We don’t need to kill the cultists! They just want root, not to mention that they just saved you. And Beery can help! He knows where Subversion is!”

[Immortal Platypus]

Unfortunately for you, I'm not Everyone. I continue to attack Beery, not caring about Subversion for the moment. Immortal platypi and Root Dragons have an ancient rivalry. Beery fights back and I call for Unintelligible to help me.

Unintelligible is too busy trying to interrogate the Root cultists to help.

Which is pretty hard, considering most of them are busy dying.

Rue sits down and starts to cry. Then she stops. “Wait a second. These aren’t my friends. They’re on the wrong side. Let’s go kill Subversion!!!!”

[Immortal Platypus]

I continue killing "Beery" as Aes named him.

[NameIess]

Unintelligible finishes killing the last Root cultist. "Looks like none of them knew where Subversion was. Time to interrogate the dragon, I guess."

Meanwhile, Rym had discovered the door to Subversion's room.

"Uh, guys," Bookwyrm said. "Rym found Subversion. Or at least the room where Subversion should be."

Beery flew away, safe. 

[Immortal Platypus]

I look over to Bookwyrm. Then I fly after Beery. Within two minutes, I return, having killed the dragon because we didn't need to interrogate it anymore.

"Okay, let's go get that semi-Narrator."

Rue smiles, following them. She's still wearing her hat and shoes. Silly platypus, she thinks. Root Dragons are immortal, and always have been. Beery will be fine, but might as well let Phillip think he's won. 

[NameIess]

Unintelligible kicked the door down and ran inside.

"Guys? It's empty."

[The Bookwyrm he/him]

"Sparks," Rym said. "Sorry, guys." 

"It's fine, Rym," Bookwyrm said. "You did well. We just have to figure out where Subversion has really gone..."

[Edema Rue she/her]

"Over here!" Rue calls. "There's some sort of magical residue. She's been here, and she used powerful magic!"

I can read minds. I know how to kill immortal beings. you don't survive as an immortal being without that knowledge. he is dead permanently.

Unintelligible nodded approvingly. "Anyone who helps Subversion should die for it."

"HE WAS NOT HELPING SUBVERSION!!!" Rue shouts. "She captured him, and he knew exactly where she was! He could have told us! He was just as innocent as Valiant, perhaps more so, and yet @Ookla the platypus killed him without a second thought!"

"If you want to kill a semi-Narrator, you have to break a few eggs."

"Not necessarily."

Rue sneers angrily. “If you go on like this, then you’re worse than this semi-narrarator you keep going on about. She isn’t harming anyone right now, and here you are, murdering innocent dragons and blaming her for it.

"I didn't murder anyone. It was the platypus that killed the dragon. But this is irrelevant." Unintelligible turned to the magical residue that Subversion had left behind, closing his eyes and focusing. "I can track this. And I think Subversion's waiting, wherever it leads. I think she's realized that running only delays the inevitable."
