It goes completely by mother. Either way, the people on that seal could be our common ancestors or something :o So how about if my mother is part Jewish? Does that count or does she have to be full?

Basically according to Orthodox Judaism there's no such thing as part Jewish. You're either not Jewish at all, or you're fully Jewish. You can be born Jewish, ie your mother, and her mother and her mother and her mother etc etc were/are Jews, or you/a maternal ancestress converted. I hear a song I think I recognize and check the iPad, which confirms my suspicions are correct. It's Doctor Who soundtrack.
