Citadel16 he/him Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 *raises hand tentatively* There's things I don't like about the Princess Bride. Like how there's only one woman who is incapable of doing anything for herself and gets pushed around by everyone. And the fire forest sequence was like "List a bunch of problems!" "Meet each problem in the order we listed it, once only, then move on!" And the torture machine is ridiculous. Regardless I still like the movie, I just don't know why. because its so audaciously ridiculous that if you don't like it then you haven't watched it!
Orlion Blight he/him Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Whew! Plenty to respond to! 1) I, too, am not completely enamored with The Princess Bride. I enjoyed it, but I'm sick of seeing the same three lines repeated over and over again in general discussion. Even fans of Monty Python's Holy Grail are more diverse! 2) Of course Moffett would take that position. His career is based on putting his interpretation on other people's work Snark aside, it's good he recognizes that and doesn't view himself as some unparrelled genius. 3) World War Z is probably the best zombie novel out there, so if you are interested in that genre, it's a must! Also, if you consider yourself a zombie aficionado, you should know and read and adore I Am Legend. Yes, it's about vampires, but it inspired and is a precursor to Night of the Living Dead, which is the genesis of the modern zombie genre.
The Honor Spren she/her Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 I just watched Zootopia. It is so good. I can't stop gushing. I just. Wow. Loved it. 1
Silverblade5 he/him Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 So, besides me and Quiver, who here has read Fallout: Equestria? It's a great read, and even those who aren't mlp fans would be able too enjoy it imo

Delightful Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Honor spren, if you can answer this without spoilers, why are the rabbit and the fox working together? None of the trailers I've seen actually explain the relationship.
Curious Anamaximder he/him Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 I was laughing so hard from the trailer for that, I fell out of my seat. Sloths work at the DMV. That will go over kids heads. 1
Delightful Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 (edited) Jewish History geek out time! So they just unearthed two seals from the 1st Temple period, from 2500 years ago. One of them bears the name Sa'aryahu ben (son of) Shabenyahu, and even more remarkably the second seal belonged to a woman, Elihana bat (daughter of) Gael, meaning that she owned property and conducted business. In 500 BCE. In Jerusalem. That is so freaking amazingly cool. (source) Edited March 8, 2016 by Delightful 5

Wait what exactly does the princess and the frog have to do with it? Do you know that according to Orthodox Judaism, you're fully Jewish? It goes completely by mother. Either way, the people on that seal could be our common ancestors or something :o Edited March 8, 2016 by Delightful
Mestiv he/him Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Am I more fascinated by the cat or the books? The mystery remains forever unsolved. The cat! The books are just books, nothing special, mostly popular fantasy and thrillers, just in Polish And the cat is unique, one of a kind!
Delightful Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Meow. (Again I find myself (role playing?) as a cat. How does this even happen to me??!
Edgedancer he/him Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 The cat! The books are just books, nothing special, mostly popular fantasy and thrillers, just in Polish And the cat is unique, one of a kind! Plus, it's a cat. That makes it worthy of your attention even if it was part of a clone group. (Then again a clone army of cats would probably be noteworthy as well. )
Edgedancer he/him Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Having read the first installment of "History of Magic in North America," on the 14th through 17th centuries, here's what I have to say: Native American magic users were in contact with magic users across the world well before Columbus? Not only is that awesome, but it definitely explains a few things. Wands are a European invention, but Native American potions were far more sophisticated than anything in Europe. I'd say that holds true with Native American legends and stories, none of which mention wands. I liked the way she made Animagi a potential source of stigma within some communities, given the many stories about men and women who broke a taboo to transform, though I'm not sure I like using the skin-walker legend to do it. I could tell she was a bit out of her element. There were a lot of general statements, whereas the articles on Europe, Britain especially, have at least a few specificities. How much will Twi use for fanfic purposes: 95%. So what you're saying on those few things is... that wizard and witches were drug traficers and mumies really are magic, so they got in on being high?

More that there were almost certainly drug traffickers between continents, but your version is funnier.

TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Well, according to my brother, Mollie thinks she made a new best friend. It's a goose. 2
Edgedancer he/him Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Well, according to my brother, Mollie thinks she made a new best friend. It's a goose. Interspecies friendships are very important for a accepting society. You should encurage her in this endavour.
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Interspecies friendships are very important for a accepting society. You should encurage her in this endavour. She doesn't exactly observe the customs of different species, though. I guess she pranced all over, wagging her tail (like what she does in the videos where she brings people shoes) and the goose took off. She also saw a deer from the car and wanted to go say hello in the worst way.
Curious Anamaximder he/him Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Interspecies friendships are very important for a accepting society. You should encurage her in this endavour. Yes. Vin is a great example of this. Jk her kandra was a traitor and the first one was a stiff as crap.

How much will Twi use for fanfic purposes: 95%. From what I've seen, the actual Native American reaction to this has been rather upset. There are a lot of liberties made with actual cultures here, cultures that a few people are desperately trying to keep alive, and they're not all that thrilled with how Rowling has appropriated things. Interspecies friendships are very important for a accepting society. You should encurage her in this endavour. NO! Geese are evil. They are horrible, vicious monsters that will try to murder the poor, helpless pug! Dinosaurs didn't die out - velociraptors evolved into geese. Keep Mollie away from them!
Citadel16 he/him Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 I was afraid of that. I hadn't seen the reactions yet—it was just posted this morning. No worries there—the goose took off. 3
The Honor Spren she/her Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 I was wondering if I should see that one. Looked interesting to me from the trailer. I think the world building was interesting, the animation was beautiful, the characters were diverse, there was some hilarious humor, and the storyline left me feeling very satisfied. I've never wanted to go back to the theater and watch a movie a second time, but that is exactly what I want to do this time. Plus the mayor was done by J K Simmons, aka Grunkle Ford, so there's that. Honor spren, if you can answer this without spoilers, why are the rabbit and the fox working together? None of the trailers I've seen actually explain the relationship. He is a lead on a case that she's working on and she may have threatened to expose his tax fraud if he didn't help her.
