Actually, as the creator of Random Stuff VII, I can confirm it is still the Admins naming it, not we mere mortals. It will be interesting to see what they do with it this time, though. They might go with the leaked rumour going around circles though. Random Stuff VIII: Tale of the Admin Temple... Hmmm...

And Honor, I honestly thought we would reach Random Stuff LXXI : If only there were this many Star Wars movies before I got the chance to make one, but I just happened to be on at the time. I was actually making a post, and by the time I pressed 'post', it came up with an error that the thread had been locked. So, you never know.

On a seperate note, The Way of Kings disappeared from the library shelf a week ago. Then it reappeared, and Words of Radiance was nowhere to be found. Then Mistborn disappeared. Now the Well of Ascension is missing.

We have a new Sanderfan at our school!!!

Well, technically, it could be an old Sanderfan that's decided it's time for a reread, but still...

Also, do any of you know whether A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab is worth reading? The blurb sounds interesting.

I know the address of the place where I'm interviewing.

I wrote it down, along with the address of my hotel, I checked on distance to and from the airport, and I did the same thing with all the apartments I'm going to look at.

So why am I still terrified I'm going to show up at the wrong address every time? Good gravy I'm so nervous.

And do you have phone numbers to all the places you want to visit? In worst case you'll just call them and ask for directions. Adulting is not that scary if you remember that it's not a test and having problems with something is normal.

I'll write those down too. Yeah, I'm just scared that I'll make too many mistakes and leave a terrible first impression. I know I must've made a good enough impression for them to offer me the job after one Skype interview, but I'm still worried.

chew some gum if you can. it will trick your mind into thinking your eating, and you (usually) only eat when your relaxed, therefore, it will trick your mind into thinking you should be less nervous.

it works for me and I hope it works for you! :)

If it was me I would probably call everyone and ask for directions on top of it, but I have no sense of direction at all, I still get lost in gothenburg, not that I live in gothenburg, but seriously, you would think that I would know which direction the sci fi bookshop is by now... but I dont, I always run around lost for a while and then I ask someone when I get bored of being lost.

Still reading the "History of Magic in North America" series. You know….while reading most of it, I thought, Hey, not bad, but the more I think about it, the less I find to like.

Fanon forever. -_-

Uh. What?

Sorry, has Rowling done something about American wizards and I missed it?

Yeah, it's possible I guess. I just don't think I'm on here often enough anymore to be on here at the right time.

I was just put that on hold at the library. :o If you're sill not sure by the time I finish it, I'll let you know.

Yeah. Pottermore has a series on the history of North American magic, and Part Three is up now. Some of the stuff she has is all right, like the Magical Congress of the United States of America being called "Mah-cooz-uh" by Americans, Muggles going by a different name (No-Maj), and No-Majs being harder to fool, but I can tell she's out of her element and doesn't quite understand America. Which I don't fault her for; I'd do pretty badly if I had to write a magical history of Britain.

"And that is how the Fifth War of the Cursed Tea ended. Next up: Oliver Cromwell as a warlock."

Just found the article. It brings up things I hadn't considered, and....yeah, this is worse than I thought.

I just can't ignore

What happened on Pottermore

When headcanons all fried

Tweets of outrage in my stride.

I just discovered

That Rowling's been criticized

Over something rather odd

They say her work is all just wrong

It just doesn't belong

Like it's a part of her world.

It'd be really simple, really. Stick with what you know and merely hint at everything else.

I mean, that's all Rowling did to begin with. Stick with a British Boarding School model, invent what you need, mine inconsistencies/vague things in later installments and drop other aspects entirely.

With that imo lazy world building, she created what attracted folks to the series: a sense of wonder and discovery.

World building wise, I think the fandom puts in waaay more effort than Rowling ever did.
