Stormgate he/him Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 When, for no reason whatsoever, you tell your father all about Allomancy and Feruchemy while knowing perfectly well that he will not read the books, you just want to talk about it. Also, my brother knows about Awakening and maybe Surgebinding as well as the Metallic Arts. 3

+Slowswift Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 When you really want to annex a class at Brigham Young U...but aren't from Utah or a mormon... Well, fortunately, as far as I'm aware neither are a requirement for attending, so there's that.

Stormgate he/him Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 You know you're a Sanderfan when (this part will not make sense to non-Mormons) you learn about consecrated oil and you have to remind yourself that it isn't Invested. 2

Hm. Non-christians, rather. I guess. I do not know the differences between mormons and the rest of Christianity. (I am Catholic myself). You are definitely a Sanderfan when you sit down with your translated copy of Words Of Radiance and you get to codebreaking the Diagram. And when you start to suspect that at some point the translator messed up. If I got the word "Radiants", then I suppose I am doing it right. But then the rest doesn't match up. Oversleep Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 (edited) You're definitely a Sanderfan if you remember that "Radiants" doesn't show up in the correct solution (Coppermind says: "Hold the secret that broke the Knights Radiant. You may need it to destroy the new orders when they return."). Well, the construction "Knights Radiant" in Polish in this sentence is plural, so... It isn't simply the case of adding the "s" at the end of Radiant. So yeah, I got Radiants and that's correct. Unfortunately, they did translate the code and it's even correct! But a lot of numbers are off(and some misspels and some missing letters) and if I didn't know what I'm looking for I wouldn't solve it by myself. You're a Sanderfan when your dream last night was that Brandon finally came to your country, you made it to the event and then forgot some super-important question you wanted to ask. So instead you asked if Mistborn Elantrians can Compound Aons. Edited January 9, 2016 by Oversleep
Stormgate he/him Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 You know you are a Sanderfan when the answer to the following sentence can make your heartbeat go up: When is Sanderson doing another AMA on the 17th Shard? (I don't know the answer. If anyone does, post it here. If nobody does, continue as normal.)

If you read sanderson books in any language different from the one it was written in you are not a sanderfan enough . How can you allow a translator to put himself between you and the word of sanderson? Just be glad he's not writing in inuit language or somesuch.

How can you allow a translator to put himself between you and the word of sanderson? Just be glad he's not writing in inuit language or somesuch. Well, I prefer my books analog, not digital. And it's infinitely easier to get them on paper in my own language than shipping them from U.S.A or such. I once wanted to buy some comic books from USA and the cost of shipping was highstorming high. So I stick to local shops. Not to mention the language issues - I probably could read them in English, but checking a word now and then would be irritating. Another thing is that I'm not the only reader in my house - my mother also reads Sanderson and it would be impossible for her to read them in English. P.S. And we have the best Mistborn covers Edited January 14, 2016 by Oversleep 1
Landis963 he/him Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 P.S. And we have the best Mistborn covers Those are the UK covers? I'd have to agree. Those, and the European cover for Elantris.
Oversleep Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 (edited) Nope, Polish covers exclusively. They are from the new edition. When you put them togetrher on the bookshelf an image is forming depicting the buildings in the background. Really cool. Edited January 10, 2016 by Oversleep 5
Haradion Drogon Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Ahah!It looks Cool NOW.But give it time...The Publishers will tweak something on the next cycle... or the one after that. Then cease publishing in that format all together.Trust me,I've seen it before.(Time Riders. They started putting NUMBERS on the Spine on the FOURTH BOOK OF NINE! For Shards Sake...)
Oversleep Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 (edited) We have one publishing company infamous for that sort of thing. But not that one. Word is that the illustrator will be making all the Mistborn books. So at least the first six are secured, probably Lost Metal too. Who knows what future will bring? But right now they're on Sanderson publishing spree - we're getting a book every two months this year (AoL comes out this week, SoS, BoM, Elantris, Emperors Soul and the plan was for Oathbringer in autumn, but... I hope for Warbreaker.) Edited January 16, 2016 by Oversleep
Stormgate he/him Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 You know you're a Sanderfan when you see the image made by the covers above and your first thought is that those buildings may hold a clue about the Cosmere, or at least Scadrial. 1

That's enough of a reason to forgive the sin of putting an intermediary between you and the word of sanderson. Well, I hope at least they are translated better than the italian ones, because the italian ones sound pretty bad. There is really no way to translate all the terms sanderson uses for his power and mythology thhat would not sound stupid in italian. Or maybe there is, but the translator missed it and I can't figure one out. I know because I have a friend reading sanderson in italian.
