Quick Fix 74: Ain't Nobody Got Time For That

“We've been betrayed!”

The bandits huddled, hidden behind the corner of the building. It was plain as day. Some of their crew had sold out to their rivals. They had attacked with the rising sun, and the crew had to find the turncoats before they got shot in the back in the middle of a shootout.

Tomias burned bendalloy, forming a speed bubble around the group. “We don't have much time, so make your cases. Take too long and…” He cocked his gun, a grim smile on his face.

Welcome, welcome, welcome everyone to Quick Fix 74 - Ain't Nobody Got Time For That. This is an attempt at a low/restricted post count game. Otherwise, it will be a very simple rules-lite game.

Flavor is a bandit gang in their home base, spies in their midst tipped off their rivals. They only have a few minutes within their speed bubble. If they don't find the traitors quick, they'll get shot in the back while they're defending their front.

Me, myself, and I, @The Unknown Flamewill be your GM. The recently un-lofted @Araris Valerian will be your Impartial Moderator. Sign-ups will conclude on Monday the 10th of March at 12:30 PM Central Time.

The extensive rules can be found in Google Document form here:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1MmsDcJi-ZLxJEWqNC3eCxwg8RB4VvWBRyEGXgSk4KMc/edit?usp=drivesdk

Or, if you want a forum version, you can find that below:

Spoiler

Basics:

Spoiler
  • This game will be a great introduction for newer players, an easy return for busy veterans, and a nice break for active players.
  • If you are a new player, make sure to check out our Welcome Thread for info on how to get started. If you're a returning player, go read it anyway because Wilson did a great job.
  • Day and night will be combined into a single, 24-hour cycle, flavored as a fast paced discussion period in-world.
  • Every cycle, there will be a community execution, which anyone can vote in. Due to the restricted nature of posts in this game, voting will be done atypically. There will be a spreadsheet which players will enter their votes into. In order to ensure honesty, players will also be asked to send each vote change into their GMPM. The spreadsheet will be used in tandem with the PM, with the spreadsheet taking priority except in claims of interference.
  • There is no vote minimum
  • Players can post no more than 8 times per cycle
  • There are no roles

Factions:

Spoiler

The Bandits: The village and majority faction for this game. They are ordinary bandits caught in a shootout with their rivals, who have paid off some of their members. They must root out and kill all of The Turncoats using social deduction and the community execution.

The Turncoats: The minority Eliminator faction. They have betrayed their fellows for money or power. They must remain undiscovered until they outnumber The Bandits. To aid them in this goal, they will have a secret Google doc to conspire in and the ability to kill one player each cycle.

Role(s):

Spoiler

The Gambler: They've made a life out of reading people's faces, and knowing how the cards would fall by the way they held their eyes. Evey turn, they can choose a player. They will learn the faction of that player.

Clarifications:

Spoiler

Feel free to ask about anything new players, from terminology to mechanics, I or someone more chronically online (if a person like that even exists) will answer you

The execution and the night kill can kill the same player

Editing your posts is completely allowed, however, editing in quotes and responses and otherwise communicating back and forth within a single post is not allowed. In other words, expand upon your points as much as you want, but don't respond to posts made after the one you're editing.

If a player changes their vote in the spreadsheet, but forgets to send the PM or changes the vote before rollover but sends the PM after, the spreadsheet will take precedence. The PM will only serve as proof if a player claims their vote was tampered with.

Players:

Spoiler
  • @A Joe in the Bush as The Suspicious Man, who's a Turncoat, just not that kind
  • @Nemoras Enchanted Easel as The Nameless Whisperer, who gave the snitches their stitches
  • @KelsierApologist as The Enforcer, who you definitely don't want to mess with
  • @TwinStorm as The Crazed, a jester without a court
  • @TheRavenHasLanded as Twice Fooled, Once Crazy, who really needs to learn that he can close his eyes
  • @Lord Spirit as Johnny Goodman, who is making this gang a walking Spiderman meme
  • @#1 Taln Fan as Billy Joe, who eats almost as much as me
  • @Steeldancer as nobody, nobody worth your notice that is
  • @|TJ| as a worrywart, who worries about things that I, in my infinite wisdom, have already though about
  • @Ashbringer as Human, who, despite the blue skin and abnormal size, is Very Human
  • @Mark IV as Lamron, who is going to explode when he tries to escape the Bendalloy bubble

With special guest appearances from:

@Aeternum

And inflating the spec doc beyond reasonable size we have:

@Kasimir and @The Wandering Wizard!

Also in the spec doc, with an A(eo)+ grade, we have @Aeoryi!

Tell me if I forgot something, it's only *checks watch that I totally have* almost midnight.

Signing up as The Suspicious Man of Quick Fix 7 Infamy. Possibly a Doctor, definitely not a Lawman, but if he is, he wasn't the one who sold out the gang to their rivals. He's just trying to survive long enough to sell out the gang to the Constables.

Signing up as The Nameless Whisper, a woman who is definitely on the side of the gang, and not an infiltrating assassin, and her target is definitely not The Suspicious Man.

Man, that game has more tags than this one. Better fix that real quick.

To be fair, that is all of the tags for the entire game. When the threads merge, each new cycle's tags get added to the merged thread.

at least, that is how it functioned when I was still active.

This is true, but I'm an over achiever with nothing better to do.

And the tags are now longer than the writeup good enough

Signing up as The Enforcer. Bouncer by day, bodyguard by night, the enforcer is who you call when someone defaults on a loan, threatens the gang, or needs to be taken out.

Name TBD, if we’re doing that

I see... :P.

I think it's awfully Suspicious of TUF to say there are no roles, when there is very clearly at least 1 role!

The Gambler: They've made a life out of reading people's faces, and knowing how the cards would fall by the way they held their eyes. Evey turn, they can choose a player. They will learn the faction of that player.

"Which of you are Gambling men? eh?" The Suspicious Man pulled out a deck of cards. "Anyone fancy a game of chance to decide who should die first?"

The Suspicious Man fans out 7 cards. "Whoever pulls the lowest card is the Turncoat."

Spoiler

Behind each of these spoilers is a card. Only reveal one, and be honest about which one you pull first. The Suspicious Man will reveal the 7th himself as the card he has pulled. Aces count as 1's, cards are from the Mistborn Standard Edition Playing Cards by Kings Wild Project.

The Enforcer pushes everyone out of the way. "I'll pull first." He pulls the fifth card, and takes it, not revealing what it is, but touching his spear necklace in a way that could be either thanks or fear for his life.

The Nameless Whisper raises a brow at the men around the Suspicious Man, delicately reaching forward and drawing the 6th card. Looking at it, she nods slightly and leans back in her seat.

I stand corrected :P.

The Suspicious Man eyed the three cards that had already been revealed, then flipped the remaining ones over. All face Cards. What were the odds of 6 face cards and an Ace? That was suspicious. Hopefylly no one accused him of rigging the game, whichbhe definitely hadn't. "Well, Tomias, as you can see, these fool proof cards clearly state that I, the Enforcer, and that Nameless Whisperer are all clearly innocent, and should be let out without dying. Meanwhile, Exp there is obviously the turncoat. Case closed, we can all go home after you shoot him and no one else."

Exp holds up a sphere the size of a tennis ball. "You can try to shoot me, but if you do, I will push on this special ball that is filled with metal with all the power I have. It will break into bits and leave more than just myself dead. Do what you may, but know if you pull the trigger you also play roulette with your lives. And you better hope you don't miss, because you only have one shot."

Speccing this one please. Life's a bit too busy to commit to more things at the moment and I do need to crunch the last of the results in a timely manner.
