  1. Agreed. Masemishar seems the utterly nuttiest of the bunch. Nuttier than a fruit bat.
  2. @Scion of the Mists Eeehhh nevermind, I'm dumb.
  3. Yeah. Don't those eyedrops only last a few hours? I think people would notice.
  4. The topic doesn't indicate spoiler level, so it's always good to warn of potential spoilers that aren't otherwise indicated
  5. Sadly, information on Hoid is mostly pretty scarce. You can look around Arcanum for the ones we have, but we don't have a solid answer on it.
  6. wob.coppermind.net Say goodbye to any chance of productivity for the next month or so
  7. He comes from the WoB, one dead man, a shoe in his mouth, and I know that I have seen true grief.
  8. I have to disagree with the pathways idea. In the Spiritual Realm, time and distance don't matter. So I think that the Shard can access any of its power that it's aware of, regardless of where or when it's located.
  9. Why are you using theoryland instead of Arcanum? Huh? Huh? (Kidding. Though Arcanum IS better). Brandon's walked back on that WoB, and said that Hoid uses something that could be Feruchemy or something that works like accessing Fortune in Feruchemy. This is from 3 years after that one that you linked.
  10. So this is how I see it. Investiture existed in the cosmere and all of it was associated to Ady pre-Shattering. However, even pre-Shattering, Ady had different....inclinations? uses? for his investiture. So he purposed some of the investiture to...say, be on Roshar as part of the spren that he created. When he Shattered, the investiture that was on Roshar had to be associated to one of his pieces. And the most similar was Cultivation. Because when he used that investiture, his intention was to cultivate spren and all the wacky life that we see on Roshar. So it's not that the investiture changed or deliberately assigned. It just went with the new chunk of investiture that was most like what it already was.
  11. I'm the one that got Jebus to ask that. His reaction is truly glorious, and I'm glad we can put the theory to rest. To get the full enjoyment out of it, make sure to listen to his reaction. It's amazing, and he's never going to live it down. Right @Overlord Jebus ?
  12. The way I see it is like this (forgive me, I've never organized my thoughts properly so this is going to be a little bit like spitballing): If you're born a normal person, you develop with your own personality and mind, with only other people as outside influences. So you learn about emotions, history, culture, and other people with direct experience. You see, hear, feel, taste, touch, and think and decide and wonder all on your own. As an AI or a chunk of investiture that has gained sapience, from the moment the first spark flickers, you're influenced by the magic's purpose. Everything you experience is affected by that purpose. You might eventually channel it to your own desired, but you never were and never will be free of it. And you may or may not ever have had direct experience of actually living. You've observed, you've speculated, you've run simulations. But you've never had the direct experience of growing up, learning, feeling emotions, tasting food, etc etc. So tl;dr, the difference is context. With a mortal life behind you, you have context and experience free of the influence that you've taken up. Does that rambling mess make sense?
  13. I'm sure they tried a number of things.
  14. Brandon says, "not the way they know how to do it."
  15. We're at something like 10-12k years after the Shattering, so Scadrial would have to be younger than that, since Ruin and Preservation created it. That being said, Sazed could easily have created oil and coal and gas deposits as he was reworking the planet or any time after.
  16. I think emotions and personality would emerge with sapience. I mean Syl and Pattern definitely have personality, and they're bits of investiture that have gained sapience.
  17. But Brandon's said the # of Unmade is fixed, and it's not 10.
  18. It figuratively made my brain explode.
  19. If I went on a rant about the artwork, I would never stop. Suffice to say I agree with everything you said, and I much prefer the new artist and hope he does the 3rd one as well. I've only seen the artwork people have posted but it's enough to make me hate it, and not buy the volumes.
  20. I hate to be "that person" again, but this needs to be moved into OB Spoilers. Have you read the Spoiler policy up top? For the Unmade, there are 9 (or at least, not 10). As for what they are And Peter, off the top of his head, doesn't think they were ever "made" so to speak.
  21. He's said that it's possible but very unlikely and difficult to keep from killing a person when spiking something out of them. A large number of bindpoints are in the heart, and I can't think of a way to pierce someone's heart with metal and not kill them
  22. This with Rainier's explanation helps. I think I see what you're getting at now. I take the WoB to mean that Adonalsiunm created all of 'em though, so I still disagree We'll find out when you get your books, hopefully
  23. Hey, feel free to edit the WoB to what you actually said. I'm sorry, my ears are not great at making out words sometimes. And yes, it makes sense for me, at least.
  24. I have no idea what you said, but I'll bet it was cool, so have an upvote
