  1. Sadeas wanted Dalinar to be the ruthless, uncaring warlord he was in his youth. The current Dalinar isn't anything like that.
  2. Sorry, which part is addressed to me and which to Dreamstorm? Because I literally pasted the quote from the book about Shallan's mother.
  3. I've been keeping up with this thread, and mostly agree with SLNC and Anagram (weird, I know). But I wanted to chime in here with a tad bit of clarification. It might not make sense, but that's what happened. Lin was actually affiliated with the Ghostbloods, not the Skybreakers. Helaran was associated with the Skybreakers. I also saw Dalinar as a distant father, not a dismissive one.
  4. As far as we can tell, it did not. Notum in Oathbringer describes how the current numbers of Honorspren came to be.
  5. I don't think there's a fixed number of splinters, just that his power was scattered into a lot of little bits. The Stormfather is the biggest remaining chunk of Honor's power. We know that honorspren and Nahel spren existed before Honor was Splintered, because we see them in pre-Recreance visions, and Honor died after the Recreance. And we know how the current honorspren came about. Yeah, having Splinters and Splintering is confusing. We end up just having to use context. Splinters (noun) are bits of investiture. Splintering (verb) is some process of breaking a Shard's power into bits.
  6. She was only bonded for a very short time before her Knight died, though, so wouldn't have had a chance to learn much. And who knows what she's forgotten in the thousands of years that she was unconscious? So I guess my answer is that she's mentally very young.
  7. Even perfect gems would shatter eventually. Spoilered for length. I kind of see it like the way some opals will absorb water. You should be able to soak and dry them a number of times, but eventually, doing so is going to make them crack and fracture. Microscopic impurities or flaws, and the like.
  8. Wyndle and Pattern specifically were sent by their people, who took steps to protect them from the trauma and memory loss that comes from the transition. So they're going to remember more, and faster. Syl went against her people and the Stormfather to find Kaladin. So it makes sense that she recovers much more slowly.
  9. But anyone going to Braize to be tortured doesn't address two main questions. 1. The Oathpact and the Heralds bind the Fused to Braize. They don't affect Odium at all, or at most, tangentially. 2. The Fused don't go back to Braize when they die anymore. They float around the Everstorm until they get a new body. Going back to Braize wouldn't do any good.
  10. OMG ROFL ROFL ROFL
  11. The "build up" really wasn't that substantial. When Raoden first drew the correct Aon in the library, the build up was enough to set the library on fire, is about it. It was only building up a little bit locally because he was trying to channel it so much. After that, the Dor settled down as evidenced by the cessation of "attacks" on Raoden. It shouldn't have been enough to affect how dangerous the Dor was in the Cognitive Realm.
  12. I like to read them in chronological order, myself (which is roughly the same as publication order), except for MB Era 2 because it happens on the same planet as Era 1. White Sand Elantris, The Hope of Elantris, Emperor's Soul. 11th Metal/Mistborn Era 1+2, Secret History Warbreaker Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell WoK, WoR, Edgedancer, OB. Sixth of the Dusk
  13. It's almost certainly Hemalurgy. We know Kelsier's still around during Era 2, and we physically see Marsh when he gives Marasi The Book.
  14. The second story arc is confirmed to take place 10-20 years after the end of the first arc, and will have Lift, Renarin, Jasnah, Taln and Ash as the flashback characters. Sorry. Also, I still dislike the idea of the first arc ending in a defeat or a delaying measure, as having someone get tortured for a couple decades would be.
  15. But that's adding things to people. Taking away bits seems to kill them, or if they survive, I would bet they'd just be lobotomized. And it would have to be genetic, because mistwraiths breed true.
  16. The Bands were made by Kelsier, not TLR, no? Also, TLR mutated the kandra while he held the power of the Well. If he'd just spiked the ability out of them, they'd still be human, rather than goo monsters
  17. Adolin is one of the few viewpoint characters I haven't wanted to smack upside the head, so I'm generally favorable toward him (the other main ones being Jasnah and current-Dalinar).
  18. That's not from any kind of a wind. That's from her impact with the tree. She hit it so hard, it did it's fall-down-defense thing. And the impact was hard enough that the trees next to it followed along. She might have been moving extremely fast, but she didn't affect the speed of the air
  19. I think the race that could most be considered "native" to Roshar would be the ancient Dawnsingers. Everyone else seems imported. I think Arclo says something about how he bred his horde to look like cremlings? Which implies that they weren't that way originally.
  20. Yeah it's amazing. It makes a few guesses when we don't know much, so it's not perfect, but it is really great.
  21. Brandon's said it's about 6000 years from the Shattering of Adonalsium to the Prelude of WoK. So we're at about 12000 years (remember Roshar years are a little longer than "standard) after the Shattering with the events in the Stormlight Archive. Mistborn Era 2 happens sometime around book 6 of SA (probably during or a little after). Mistborn Era 3 will happen about 60-80 years after that. Mistborn Era 4 will probably be some centuries after Era 3, because there needs to be time to develop the tech for FTL. I'm sure it'll have some effect on Era 3, but Era 4 is where the grand cosmere crossover is going to take place. Here's a great timeline with major spoilers for all cosmere books https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1JJtJhHwpKdow01n2-bsT3scVvqJd6lZh4uvpNwcslv8/edit#gid=0
  22. Yeah I think the Ire is pre-Reod. And they likely went to the CR on purpose via the perpendicularity, instead of being thrown in. As far as we know, the only Hoed that were thrown in were Riino and Saolin.
  23. That's giving me Matrix 2 flashbacks.
  24. I don't think they can. Everyone/thing was supercharged when Dalinar combined the Realms and none of the gems shattered, that was described to us. They either took the overcharge without trouble, or got their normal charge, and then stopped.
  25. They're even smaller than that. Phobos and Demos are less than 14 miles in diameter (22 and 12 km), and Brandon/Peter have said Roshar's moons are about the size of those guys.
