Ships and boats that can endure Highstorms?
Scriptorian replied to Aspren's topic in Stormlight Archive
I'm pretty sure that in-world, ships just avoid being at sea during a highstorm by keeping near the cost. I believe it is mentioned several times that being at sea during a highstorm would be certain death. Assuming the tale of the Wandersail is true, even when someone tired to make a ship capable of surviving them, it still got wrecked. I'm not entirely sure what you could do besides having essentially a submarine. Maybe some super-fabrial that makes an anti-storm shield. -
Long Game 1: In the Wake of the Koloss
Scriptorian replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Question for the next game: is it going to be the same premise (impending koloss attack with spiked sabutuers) or will there be a different backstory? Having kandra impostors instead of spiked people might be a cool premise.- 462 replies

Long Game 1: In the Wake of the Koloss
Scriptorian replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Phew, I can finally speak! As soon as the game started I regretted not joining, and it has been SO hard not to jump in and start accusing people! You stoopid villigers! (Just kidding, I wasn't paying enough attention to have done any better). P.S. Can I be a Mistborn in the next game?- 462 replies

Where do shard blades go when dismissed?
Scriptorian replied to Chlehrma's topic in Stormlight Archive
Wus. -
For some reason I associate this theme with Mistborn. (I don't even play Skyrim). There are several climactic moments (Vin drawing in the mists, Kalading saying the second oath, etc.) where I just think "Insert-Awesome-Cosmere-Theme-Here". I don't know what this theme sounds like. but I know it has really load drums and soaring french horns.

The Allomantic and Feruchemical symbols for Electrum, 'cause no one else has claimed it as their favorite metal yet.

I have this amusing scenario in my mind where Syl recognizes Amaram and spends the rest of the book making him trip all the time.

It is stated that Shin men have a tendency towards baldness. Apparently that contributes to their looking like children somehow.

Where do shard blades go when dismissed?
Scriptorian replied to Chlehrma's topic in Stormlight Archive
Have you tried grabbing one before it gets re-summoned? -
Speculations abound on this topic. Some think it makes a feruchemist, others think it'll make the universe explode... If anyone has an actual answer to this, they are really good at keeping secrets. So feel free to speculate 'till the koloss come home.

Words of Radiance in the New Year (Resolutions and Wishes)
Scriptorian replied to The Rooster's topic in Stormlight Archive
My wish: that I will fall into a coma and remain unconscious until the release. My resolution: I will not intentionally knock myself out hoping for the former. -
The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
Scriptorian replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I can answer this! I asked this question at the first Steelheart signing, and got something along the lines of "Because of the way the metals work, burning them both wouldn't have any special effect." -
I've actually used to think this as well, except that Gold is a "hybrid" metal, so theoretically it stores health for all three realms. If you think about it, this is the only way it makes sense that gold can heal a shardblade wound. Though I agree that aluminum is probably required if your trying to restore powers stolen by hemalurgy.

Nein, mein Deutsch ist sehr kaputt. Ich kann sprechen es überhaupt nicht. Meine mutter hast mein hausaufgaben gegessen.

The funny part with Tauriel is that, although she's not in any books or lore, I think she shows up in the 2003 video game. I liked the first movie better, honestly. The adds were more-lore friendly, and the second just had too many sub-plots. The love-triangle made me weep inwardly. One thing that did surprise/impress me in the second was a really obscure lore reference (actually its so obscure I'm not sure if it was intentional), where because she's Silvan. For those who aren't Tolkien-buffs, there are actually three main categories of elves: Noldor, Sindar, and Silvan (in order of decreasing fruity-ness), and they don't always get along very well. Although Thandril is king over the Silvan elves, he is actually a Sindar, and so to him unthinkable for his son to marry a "lesser" elf. Yeah, I'm also a Tolkien-lore fan. What of if?

Maybe seeing visions is just what happens when you drink the storm-water.

I'm almost positive that Hoid had lighteyes when he was being Wit. Adolin thinks something to the effect of "He wasn't really a lighteyes. He was Wit. That was a category all on its own." Which, to me, implies that if he wasn't the Kings Wit, he'd would be considered a normal lighteyes. I don't really see a reason why he would have changed disguises between the Shattered Planes and Kohlinar anyway.

Speculation on the Nature of Metallic Arts
Scriptorian replied to Araris Valerian's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I actually really like this theory for a few reasons. 1) Its pretty well established that metalminds can be Pushed on, which doesn't seem to make sense if they are Invested. 2) And it explains why metalminds are person-specific. 3) It provides a reason why Hemalurgy can be Cosmere-wide, but still tied directly to Ruin. I don't think this applies as much as you think it does, since there were extremely few Hemalurgists at any point in Scadiral's history, while every single human being had extra Preservation. -
So I guess the question is a) does aluminum store the same "identity" that gold uses and does hemalurgy "break" this identity? If the answers to the above are both true, then I think it would mean that gold can't restore a stolen attribute, but that aluminum could fix your "identity", and then you could use gold to get the attribute back. Unless, of course, Feruchemical aluminum was the attribute stolen. Then you're out luck. (So use Feruchemical chromium ? ) edit: a smiley face appeared randomly in the middle of my post...

Hmm...I could get behind the idea (easier to stab it in the back that way) of shardblades working similar to hemalurgy (see my shardblade surgery theory in my sig). Wait, so what if you used Feruchemical aluminum? This probably isn't what you meant Shardlet, but it made me think of it. Does the Identity stored with aluminum have anything to do with those kind of traits? So maybe using both gold and aluminum could let you repair all of the damage done by a spike? Hmmmm....
