  1. Yes, I know the points you mention, but I find it hard to believe that after the Surgebinders emerged, he didn't feel any responsibility for them. Even more so considering the Intent of said Shard.
  2. I've been reflecting on the situation of the former Knights Radiant recently, and I think that Honor made a mistake when it came to organizing the different orders. We know that the different orders of radiants continually suffered from internal conflicts due to the different positions of each one, so much so that for example: the order of the Windrunners came to have altercations with the Skybreakers during certain situations. And this despite the fact that several characters who saw the situation thought that the orders were very similar, although those same orders did not want to recognize it. We can guess that these disputes were mediated by the Bondsmiths, but as we all know and as Senne Khald observes in-world, there are only 3 of them. This is not enough for an organization of such magnitude to survive. In short, the different orders became echo chambers that prevented the creation of a true unity. What could have been done to avoid this situation? Considering that the positive reinforcement of these ideals must have been important to cement the Radiants in formation, the squires and Radiants of the 1st and 2nd ideals would continue under the organizational structure of orders already established, but once the 3rd ideal was pronounced, they would form small teams of 9 radiants of each, these composed of members of each of the orders (obviously they will not be 10 due to the situation of the Bondsmiths) so that they begin to interact with each other. Finally, if the 4th ideal is indeed a delimiter of the primary mission of the order, it is very likely that these groups would help the Radiants understand that reality and end up advancing more quickly towards higher ideals.
  3. I honestly think the foreshadowing is for something much further down the road when it comes to the Archive story. Taking this into account and the promise Shallan forced Kaladin to make, I believe Adolin will ascend to Odium at the end of Archive. Curious note: This is the third time that Adolin has been associated with the Pasionspren's.
  4. I will take advantage of this post to also leave my predictions: Dalinar will lose the duel of champions, and right in parallel Kaladin will be swearing the 5th ideal, there Ishar will regain consciousness for a few moments and will tell Kaladin that he does not have much time at that moment he will guide him to take the connection between the Stormfather and Dalinar, thus preventing said Spren from being Undone. Thus Kalladin will take the fallen title as in the Death Rattle (Spear, crown and tower) but without the need for Navani to die here.
  5. I was just coming to update this post and I find that you had already commented something similar XD. Yes, precisely in a conversation with some friends we came to the same conclusion, except for the issue of leaving the system. Now if this is so, this would have other additional implications, given that perfect gems are an extremely rare commodity and there is no clear geological process by which they could be created in Roshar, it is possible that those generated by the dead fifth ideal radiants were the only ones available. This would make sense of why the Elsecallers guarded them so jealously, being the Radiant equivalent to the statues of the current light-eyed bodies. And also...
  6. This post is more or less in line with my post about the possibility of separating Dor, basically the question is the following: What would happen if in the process that Wax took to try to separate Ettmetal, instead of using Bavadium to divide it, he had a system in which on the side where the metal took the characteristics of Lerasium, it vibrated in the anti-tone of Ruin, while on the side where the characteristics of Atium were taken, it vibrated in the anti-tone of Preservation?
  7. Of course, I am one of those who think that there is no intrinsically bad or good shard, in fact Adamant is a good counterexample since it is the story of a space war. (And I personally believe that the shard that "just wants to survive" and that has been hiding is Vigilance, so you can also interpret it as paranoia). But what I want to make clear is that what Taravangian says that none has achieved anything is not correct, although we have only one clear example (Nalthis) that alone is enough to refute that statement and also you cannot judge the little progress of Cultivation when it is restricted from acting and in an exceptional situation such as an enemy with whom you cannot negotiate.
  8. Adamant is a story that Brandon has not yet published, it was originally going to be a story in the Cosmere but then he wanted to make it independent, and if I'm not mistaken there was a period of time in which it was going to be part of the Cytoverse, but it seems that recently he has considered reintroducing it into the Cosmere. The striking thing about this story is that it introduces two deities, Valor and Vigilance.
  9. I think we're losing some perspective here. While I think this interlude is giving us the impression that TOdium's words are accurate (and even much of what ROdium said is accurate), I think they're still biased by the Intent of the Shard. Let's go case by case: Nothing is known about the government of Devotion and Dominion, the only thing we know for sure is that Devotion seemed to directly help the Ire. Endowment actively micromanaging what happens at Nalthis. It has given all of its inhabitants biochromatic breath, and sends them warnings of future dangers with the Returned. To be honest, he has done a very good job since Nalthis is the safest world to live in in practically any Cosmere Era. The case of Autonomy is paradoxical since here we are talking about a Vessel that acts as a landowner, but whose Intent limits it to not interfering in the lives of mortals, but it gets around this with the Avatars who in turn create almost Spartan life systems. As for Honor and Cultivation, I would like to remind you that in the past, the Singer society had no problems with them until the arrival of the humans and Odium. And let's remember that Rayze didn't intend to be the only god because he wanted to be the best god possible, he simply wanted power. Taravangian's claim to Cultivation has several nuances that he overlooks, since she hasn't been trying to create a functioning society for 8,000 years, she's been running an open war front for 8,000 years, fighting someone who isn't open to negotiation and who can't act directly because it would leave her vulnerable to attacks from Odium itself (who at the time was Rayse) as well as other Shards that are effectively acting in an expansionist manner (Autonomy and possibly Mercy). Not to mention that she cannot act indirectly since those dedicated to her (Radiant) and who possibly constitute the pillar of government that she was structuring with Honor, are being hunted by a Nale. We don't know anything else about Valor, we can only speculate that the world where it was established may be similar to what was seen in Adamant. And finally, Virtuosity never held a role of power and was always an observer until it decided to voluntarily splinter. With all this I just want to make it clear that while we can trust much of what Taravangian said, I believe that his judgment is already being clouded by the Shard.
  10. General unity, the Sprens are very prejudiced against each other, Honorsprens and Highsprens, Inksprens and Honorsprens, all generally against the Cryptics. Well I have no problem with reversing both platesprens but I don't think the Mandras are part of any armor.
  11. I think that Wind and Truth Interlude 2 has been quite revealing regarding the nature of Shards, especially how they affect their bearer. And I think it's clear now that all shards, while they are forces of nature, are more than anything the natural inclinations of living beings (with consciousness). Before continuing, I would like to recall these definitions of splinters that Sanderson has conveniently left us with a similar structure: So far we've used these descriptions to summarize the Shards' intent, and Sanderson will presumably introduce similar lines as the characters come face to face with a Shard. But this has always been from an external point of view, now we have the internal one and we have new nuances. For example, what Taravangian says it feels like to be Odium is not far from what Dalinar thinks, except for the part about the suns exploding. This has made me think two things: First, now that Taravangian's description is almost the same as Dalinar's, this means that it stops being a metaphor and becomes a literality, the shard turns its user into a receiver of all those impulses from all conscious creatures, which in essence turns him into a psychic without control of his ability, one who instead of controlling the minds of others, sees his own being manipulated by all other minds. And second, are other Shard users going through the same thing? This adds another perspective regarding their behavior and the nature of their decisions. Leras was overwhelmed by the need for things to remain as they are, this does not mean that they should remain calm, it is simply the impulse to maintain the status quo. Because there will always be people who want things to stay the same either because it suits them, they need predictability or because it's the way of life they know. That's why Reshek was so good from their point of view, for the same reason that Sixth would want his traditions to be maintained even if they imply a greater chance of dying (only multiplied by several million). In Ati's case, it would be facing the primordial desire for destruction: Seeing fire burn, the laughter of something exploding, the shock of seeing a mountain collapse, how fascinating it is to watch a time-lapse video of food rotting and turning into compost. This leaves us with a very interesting perspective on the other users and what it actually feels like to wield a Shard. An interesting case is that of Honor and Cultivation, which must affect their users with impulses very similar to the Ideals of the Knights Radiant. Tanavast constantly felt compelled to be where they were needed, to protect those who could not protect themselves, to create rules and laws to regulate coexistence, and to question those that were unjust (Stoneward, Windrunner, Skybreaker and Willshaper). But he must also have felt overwhelmed by other codes of honor that exist in the Cosmere. As for Koravellium Avast it is difficult to know since her case as a dragon may be different but in case this does not affect her at all she could be influenced by the impulse to cultivate, but this may be different from what is normally interpreted with respect to her, here we are taking cultivate in the fullest sense of the word: Pruning to make it grow as desired (Dalinar), removing weeds, building irrigation systems and planning where each plantation will go. That is why many of her actions so far seem to go against the Intent of the Shard, because it was always misunderstood and she is not a goddess of nature and growth, she is a goddess of systems. She is a divine Bonsai gardener who will not hesitate to leave you small or prune you if that is within her long-term plans for her garden. Finding the optimal way to do something (Elsecallers). Destroy what is just and necessary to give something the desired shape (Dustbringers) Listen to the 'plants' to refine the details (Edgedancers) All in all it is an art {according to gardeners/growers} (Lightweavers) As a final reflection, I find it curious that this line of thought leads me to think that Edgli is influenced by the stereotype of the Christmas spirit, that is, the need to give things to others. I also apologize if I used a lot of modern metaphors for these examples, they were the ones I felt communicated the idea best.
  12. Something I'd like to point out is that Ash doesn't seem to be very close to Ishar and is the one who seems to be more sane. Well, she has her compulsion to eliminate representations of her but compared to the others her state is much better.
  13. Well, based on its body structure it should have a relationship with the Mistspren. Well, there is a hypothesis a couple of years old that would classify them as follows: Stormfather: Men/men bond Sibling: Men/Spren bond Nightwacher: Spren/spren bond And in the last books we have been shown that the Spren can be equally or more divided than men. Honestly, I am in favor of Riverspren being the Truthwatcher's Platespren, since it is conceptually coherent with the "Mist" theme. Besides, I have the hypothesis that unlike the other 9 Orders whose Platespren come from common Sprens in quantity (like Riverspren), the Bondsmith's Platespren should be a little rarer. For example, for the Nightwatcher, I am in favor of Rainspren being associated with it, they are Sprens that appear mostly during the Weeping (coincidentally, a time without Highstorm's). As for the Sibling, I think the ideal ones would be the Bindspren
  14. Pues... si fue obra del traductor XD. En este foro suelo publicar en inglés por conveniencia para los lectores, no me había fijado y gracias por avisar. Ya lo he corregido. / Well... it was the translator's work XD. In this forum I usually publish in English for the convenience of readers, I hadn't noticed and thanks for letting me know. I've already corrected it.
  15. I've read opinions in several posts both for and against both positions and I wanted to see if I can summarize everything in this post. I'm aware that in the end it may be a character that we barely know in the second arc of Archive that forms a Nahel with the third Godspren, but of the current characters these 2 are the ones that I think are most repeated (It's also curious that both have a Cultivationspren partner)
  16. Well, technically he would have control over these hypothetical Kandra (since hemalurgic control still exists) but the thing is that he exerts said control. Returning to the original topic of the thread, we still have to see if the descendants of the Kandra would have modifications in their physical DNA or not. Since this will come into play in Era 4 and 5.
  17. I've had this idea for a while now and I want to see if you think it's viable with the information we have now. We know that the tone of a shard attracts the investiture associated with it. We know that its anti-tone does the opposite and repels the investiture. Perpendicularities are points where the 3 realms overlap. So, let's put this in perspective: Odium locked the shards of Devotion and Dominion in the Cognitive of Sel, there the investiture is in a state of immense pressure since it should not be there but rather in the Spiritual Realm where there is no concept of space. Theoretically, this investiture is very slowly returning to the spiritual according to the use that the inhabitants of Sel give it (but it is irriside given the amount we are talking about). So couldn't we find a way to return that investiture to the Spiritual Realm with the information we have? My proposal is the following: In the perpendicularity of Devotion, place a device that reproduces the tone of said shard and the anti-tone of Dominion. And do the opposite at the perpendicularity of Dominion. This should separate both types of investiture on those points. Now this can't be that simple. While the perpendicularities that occur naturally due to the presence of a Shard on a planet link the three realms, this doesn't seem to be the case for the perpendicularities in Sel (whether due to interference from Odium or otherwise). So we'll need a Bondsmith to give them the necessary push or whatever other method is available to open a breach to the Spiritual. After completing this process, I assume that the Shards will look for a new Vessel in the vicinity of the perpendicularities.
  18. True, something that can be very easily forgotten is that Hemalurgy does not necessarily require stabbing the heart with a spike, it is simply the most convenient place since that is where all the attributes can be extracted with the least loss of them. There is another way, although it depends a lot on how much Lord Ruler wanted to keep the Kandra blessings secret. Lord Ruler was a 'fullborn', so he could decant his identity and extract attributes from himself. He could recover it by means of gold composition. And if we think about the issue of quantity, let's remember that the Kandra had generations, so the amount of blessings they have at present were given over time and not all at once.
  19. Sorry I wrote Unsealed Metalminds instead of Unkeyed Metalminds. Taking the Wob that you placed as an example, normal spikes always have an identity residue but I think that Kandra spikes do not have said residue. So when they are inserted in the Mistwraiths the nascent identity in these ends up impregnated in these spikes, making them unique for each Kandra.
  20. Thanks I also think that there should be many more, but I consider that the number was severely limited after the Harmony reform that limited it to the exact amount for the Koloss to continue existing. I am a supporter of the hypothesis that Kandra blessings are spikes that are the hemalurgic equivalent of Unsealed Metalminds.
  21. I was just preparing a publication entitled "Hemalurgic Table 2.0", a table not for the effects that the different types of spike have that we already know, but for the hemalurgic constructs. From my point of view there should be between 4 or 8 human-based constructs given the non-allomantic/feruchemical attributes that can be stolen with hemalurgy. Note: All of these constructs are based on the 4-spike limit of modern hemalurgy. Coincidentally, it is the number needed to create Koloss. Physical Metals: Iron: Koloss Tin: This construct could manifest hypersensitivity like a Tin Sevant. It could also have mutations in the organs dedicated to the senses such as reversing the construction of the retina in the eyes to repair the blind spot and color perception. Cognitive Metals: Copper: I already had an idea similar to what was already stated in the previous comments, but, the inherent disadvantages of this construct were not planned in a reduction of physical qualities, but rather I had planned it for the bind points necessary for this construct, example: That it is necessary to place 2 of the 4 in the eyes and given that the vast majority will not have the ability to perceive these metals they will be virtually blind. Zinc: I imagined them as beings with emotions, but they wouldn't perceive them like normal humans, but they could perceive and quantify how much of each emotion they feel. They would instantly detect if they were being emotionally manipulated. From here I'm not sure if they are viable but it is still interesting to consider them. Spiritual Metals: Chromium: [??] Necrosil: This would be a wildcard since it would work depending on the power of the stolen investment, for example with 4 nails loaded with the investment of Autonomy you could replicate the Chimera. Aluminium: These constructs would look more or less like drabs, normal humans but with a sickly appearance. In their vicinity (say about 16 feet) all invested arts stop working. (Imagine someone with the pariah gene in Warhammer 40K but without causing a headache) Duralumin: The opposite case to the previous one, this construct would improve the efficiency of the use of people's investment in the vicinity in addition to morality, but (I can't think of a disadvantage). I'm having a lot of doubts about this one.
  22. According to the back cover of the book, it should be in Thaylen City.
  23. Half of my theory was confirmed, the Oathgate Sprens ended up being Inksprens (I thought the white one was a Lightspren). Does this mean that with a quick reconfiguration they can become giant Soulcasters? Well it seems that Shallan will be sensible and fight with a sword and shield (or double daggers) instead of a two-handed sword. One thing we can't confirm yet is the state of these pairs. It seems that in the case we see, the white one hasn't accepted (at least not yet) since we know that when they are corrupted they are red. But the black ones remain practically the same so there may be doors where only the white ones accepted. How would this make a difference? I have no idea.
  24. I think you're dismissing Jasnah too quickly. From my perspective, hearing the wind would fit in nicely with what we know about Jasnah's childhood.
  25. I have been wanting to touch on this subject for a while now. The unknown marks of the Fused are something that has been a long time coming, especially because of the Surges they are associated with (Tension and Division). Since at first glance it seems that the Fused use the Surges in the opposite way to how the Radiants do, I have a couple of ideas of what these could be like: Tension: I imagine these fused beings as shell-less singers who can strengthen their bodies to the point of being able to stop a Shardblade. Why don't I think they have a shell? Well, because it seems redundant to me with the Magnified One. Division: In a conversation with a friend, the joke came up that being a Fused of Division must be horrible since you would be falling apart all the time. To that another answered that not necessarily since if we base ourselves on the Nex-im, he could well have a way of reconstructing his body. To that I lost that perhaps his ability is to divide in a process similar to mitosis but momentary. This could happen if they possess the same quantum properties of the Spren. What do you people think?
