Thanks for making me realize that the title was wrong. Yes, I was referring to Chemoarish from the beginning. I only mentioned Cusicesh as an example of a Unique Spren that is not directly related to any of the 3 Shards associated with Roshar.
-
I know there's been some recent speculation that Wind is Ba-Ado-Mishram, but with the trailers for episodes 10 and 11 I think we can rule that out given how he acts around Shallan. With this in mind I have the hypothesis that it is actually Chemoarish, points that could give an idea of that: This Unmade is often confused with the Nightwatcher, and since Wind can use Old Magic. Wind is related to Odium since she regains her voice when changing the vessel, so we can rule out that it is some other ancient Spren like Cusicesh. Wind is a female Spren and given Chemoarish's title "Dustmother" we also assume she is female.
-
This is just a hypothesis of mine, but I've always been under the impression that the difference between an enlightened Spren and an Unmade is that the former still has its investiture intact, but has been attuned to the pure tone of Odium. An Unmade, on the other hand, has had part of its investiture replaced by Voidlight.
-
That very epigraph brought me peace, it means that humans have become accustomed to treating Sprens as equals.
-
We still have the possibility of Roca as Stoneward
-
Since we've been told so far that the mechanics shown in the RPG are canon, Shallan's truths have only affected Pattern as her relationship with Testament is put on hold until their ideals are equal, and from then on any truth she tells will serve both Sprens.

Some time ago I posted a theory about what I expected the abilities that the "voidSurges" would grant to be like, but for some time now, based on several theories I've read, I've reconsidered who the users could be. I look forward to reading your opinions. Small spoilers for the previews of Wind and Truth. Possibility 1 Well, recently with what I've seen in the Wind and Truth previews I started to rethink the structure of the magic present in Roshar. If the Old Magic precedes the arrival of Honor and Cultivation, this in my opinion rules it out as a Cultivation magic system, which creates a problem for me with the schemes I had already established, so I decided to open my mind to an idea that I don't like very much, Surgebinding is a hybrid system of Honor and Cultivation just like Feruchemy would be for Preservation and Ruin. From here another idea arises, if we don't have a pure system of either of the two predominant shards on the planet, could it be that there isn't a "pure Odium system" either, as we had thought Voidbinding would be? What I wrote above made me consider the following: We already have the 30 that Sanderson said! (Well to be exact we have 20 + 8~9i ) Honestly this WoB is already quite old but that doesn't mean that they are not parts of Sanderson's original ideas for the Archive. To this we must also add that on certain occasions Sanderson considers the Orders individually as magical systems in themselves. So far we are missing 20 "Orders" in the plot. I guess you already have the idea that for this I will use the "Illuminated Orders" wildcard, which adds 1 existing one, plus another 8~9 hypothetical ones. Which gives us a count of 19~20 "magic systems". We're still missing 10 more, so here's my bet: They're the Fused I know it may seem strange since the whole point of the Fused is that they can access one Surge and only that Surge. But I noticed an interesting pattern a while back, assuming Renarin's case is universal, the Fused would need to acquire the voidSurge opposite the Illuminated Radiant Order they would correspond to in order to complete the correct pairs. Example: (i) Windrunner [Adhesion][(v)Gravitation] (i) Skybreaker [Gravitation][(v)Division] (i) Dustbringer [Division][(v)Abrasion] (i) Edgedancer [Abrasion][(v)Progression] (i) Truthwachers [Progression][(v)Illumination] (i) Lightweavers [Illumination][(v)Transformation] (i) Elsecallers [Transformation][(v)Transportation] (i) Willshapers [Transportation][(v)Cohesion] (i) Stoneward [Cohesion][(v)Tension] Shanay-im [(v)Adhesion][Gravitation] ?? [(v)Gravitation][Division] Shetel-im [(v)Division][Abrasion] "Magnified Ones" [(v)Abrasion][Progression] Mavset-im [(v)Progression][Illumination] Fannahn-im [(v)Illumination][Transformation] Nex-im [(v)Transformation][Transportation] Makay-im [(v)Transportation][Cohesion] ?? [(v)Cohesion][Tension] Then we would have every possible combination of Surges with its void version according to the pairs given to us by the current knight orders. And as for how the Fused would obtain these new abilities, I have two options: The first is that they have always had them but the old Odium did not reveal them to them (unlikely). And the second is that it is discovered over time by the Shanay-im who joined the Listeners, I bet that this group of Fused when dying will not be reincarnated but will imitate the Sprens and form a Nahel. For the 2 "orders" we are missing, I imagine you have already got an idea (the reason why I used "~" before) the equivalents to Bondsmiths in these groups. On the part of the Illuminated Knights Radiant there is no mechanical impediment beyond the capacity of Sja-anat for such an order to exist. And as for the Fused we have the impediment that we would need to create a new type. So here goes my predictive part: Based on the following Death Rattle, Dalinar will lose the duel and this will affect the Stormfather. Possibility 2 (We don't understand anything) The title of this possibility is based on a discovery they published on reddit, and that is that the glyphs that would correspond to the possible "orders of knights" in the Voidchart are actually also deformations of the glyphs of the Surges "void-Bondsmith Glyph" and Progression Glyph "void-Willshaper Glyph and Cohesion Glyph If you are wondering how the powers were distributed in the chart, we have 2 options: If you're wondering why there are 2 options, it's because the OP of this thread also discovered that 4 of the Surges have mirror symmetry. Coincidentally, they are equidistant in the voidChart In representing this, the only thing I can think of is that the large glyphs represent the power that an Illuminated Knight Radiant lost and in exchange he obtained two voidSurges. In Renarin's case he would have Progression and (v)Division + (v)Abrasion.

According to this information, if they had been speaking truths, these would only correspond to Pattern at the moment since the Spren with the least connection takes precedence over the oldest until they are equal.
-
@DrPhysics, could you summarize what we understand by Adhesion and Abrasion in real life? I recently saw a theory in which they would be opposites in the Voidchart and shortly after a video appeared on Youtube where they explained their interaction in conditions of 0 gravity and how Adhesion allows normal ballpoint pens to function in space and allows the capillarity of plants in the Earth.

Well, I think that with the information that the RPG has provided us, we may have more clarity regarding Shallan's case. Assuming this is so we have the following facts: First, Shallan made it to at least the 3rd oath with Testament. Second, all the oaths he has made so far have only affected Pattern. In addition to this we have the WoB in which Sanderson explains how to revive a Deadeye: Note: I think I just experienced a Mandela effect, I understood that not only was it necessary to say the oaths again to revive a Deadeye, but that the next one that was missing also had to be said before the breakup. The next part of the text assumes that this is indeed the case and I am not misremembering. So this gives us 2 possibilities to revive Testament: The first would be that in her youth Shallan only swore up to the 4th ideal and at the time of pronouncing her 5th ideal Testament she is cured. And second, this being a rarer case, Shallan got to say 4 truths and there is nothing more to say. So it still wouldn't be enough since she already has the 5 ideals said. This opens up the possibility for her to take an alternative: Sja-Anat. Taking these WoB's [1] [2] as an example, it would be a good desperate measure to restore her, although she may retain her memories but not her previous personality.

When I read the title I interpreted it as something more metaphorical, I thought it was a question about what would happen if someone burned Electrum and Atium at the same time and obtained a "360° vision" on a temporal level. More or less seeing your shadows and those of your rival at the same time.

I liked this question, so I thought it would be fun to ask the opposite.

How Surgebinding is of Cultivation
Dofurion replied to Steel Speedster's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Yes, I can't really fight against WoB's. But in that post I made the same debate arose. I can only answer that at this particular point I feel that Brandon is misleading or confused (sometimes it happens to him). If you look at the second WoB before the part pointed out by alder24, he emphasizes a lot that it is Honor that filters the use. Another thing is that according to my definition [Surgebinder ≠ Surge], since obviously the Surges themselves do not belong to Honor (It is something that was already explained a little in RoW). But the process to manipulate them would be in his charge. So if you ask me, Roshar is an "all Mistings are using Atium alloys" situation. But hey, that's just my perspective on the matter, I don't intend to change anyone else's. Although I have a sneaking suspicion that in this 5th book we'll end up seeing if I'm right in this regard.- 15 replies

How Surgebinding is of Cultivation
Dofurion replied to Steel Speedster's topic in Cosmere Discussion
To be honest I don't agree. Well literally my first post on a forum in my life was "La Potenciación es únicamente de Honor" which would be translated something like: The Surgebinding is only associated with Honor. My perspective on the matter is based on the following points: Origin: Rosharian Surgebinding has its origins primarily from the Honorblades, fragments of Honor itself given to the Heralds. While not an exact comparison, as Mistings existed before their use, this seems to me to be equivalent to the Lerasium beads for Allomancy. And the Sprens begin to grant access to the Surges when imitating Honor's actions. History: Regarding the topic of oaths and the personal progression that these theoretically encourage Surgebinders (Radiant Knights), if they are used as a basis to think that as an Invested Art it is related to Cultivation, we have to remember that this is so because of the intervention of Ishar (although I can accept that part of the operation was suggested by Cultivation) and the original Spren Surgebinders were not restricted by oaths. Just as they were not subject to separation by levels. Externality: Linked to the previous point, if the basis for thinking that it is a hybrid system is that it works based on the Sprens (formed by both Honor and Cultivation investiture) we have to take into account that the use of an investiture of a Shard outside the system to work for it, does not mean that it is a system dependent on that shard. Suppose that in Scadrial during Era 1 there had been more Atium alloy mines and that the Mistings understood that only those metals are the ones they can use to exercise their skills, this would not make Allomancy an Invested Art associated with Ruin and Preservation at the same time, it would continue to be an exclusive Preservation system. While I would love to see a hybrid system on Roshar based on the data we have, I honestly don't think that's the Surgebinding.- 15 replies

Skybreakers combining ability (Gravitation + Division)
Dofurion replied to Dofurion's topic in Stormlight Archive
To summarize my line of thought: Storm clouds usually have three areas with differentiated electrical charge: The upper one with a positive charge [+], the middle one with a negative charge [-] and the lower one with a positive charge [+] Due to the electromagnetic interactions inherent to the cloud, the ground directly beneath it acquires a positive charge [+] and the surroundings a negative charge [-] Most lightning strikes are initiated when the charge difference between the middle and lower part of the cloud becomes high enough that the air loses its 'insulating' capacity and a channel is formed through which the charges can move and head towards the ground. (These channels are called "Stepped Loaders") At a given moment, as the negatively charged channels get closer, positively charged channels can emerge (known as "Streamers" and when the connection is completed the negative charge [-] will pass so quickly to the ground that the channel heats up to 30,000° (Here is the lightning) You will understand after this why I think that Adhesion is the appropriate Surge for the manifestation of rays. Since everything in its formation is defined by the creation of a natural electric circuit. And that for me falls into the "Bond" category. -
Skybreakers combining ability (Gravitation + Division)
Dofurion replied to Dofurion's topic in Stormlight Archive
I also considered that, I understand that you see the Division more as a repulsive force, but I see it more as an isolating force. Well I can't defend this point much since objectively we haven't seen much of this Surge in the books. Actually, I can think uses beyond the 2 that I explained in the initial publication: With this type of "Lashing" the stormlight would not end faster if you fought a Skimmer. Hypothetically, one could enter and leave the orbit of a black hole without setbacks or risk of spagetification. Although this may need to be reviewed by someone more versed in the subject such as @DrPhysics Unlike Inverse Lashing, this one would have no problems being used on objects close to the ground. Although as a counterpart, it is true that it would not have much use for objects that are already in the air since it would not affect their inertia. I honestly wouldn't mind being wrong if this is the case, that actually sounds great. But something I do have to differ with is the issue of lightning. If there is a Surge that can manifest rays, it should be Adhesion. Both for the theme of "the Surge of Binding and Oaths" and "the Surge of Pressure and Vacuum", to create lightning as they occur in nature this would be the best option. What's more, if my understanding is correct, Division should be able to prevent the rays from being created. I never suggested that they didn't have abilities using their two Surges at the same time, simply that given the nature of said orders they didn't have as concise a scheme as the Windrunners (Lashings). And of the other orders we don't have enough POV to deny that they also have one. We do not know if the issue of illusions with mass (like Shallan in OB or Hoid in YatNP) is due to using Illumination and Transformation at the same time or is it an advanced version of the same since Jasnah says that the light itself already has mass (I like to make the analogy between a silk shirt and a grandmother's knitted sweater, both dress but one weighs more than the other). And in the case of the Bondsmiths we do not know if the repair of objects is Tension and Adhesion together or is the spiritual aspect of Tension. We must also keep in mind that we have WoB that confirms that all orders have these mixed abilities, but in some cases they are not evident: -
Skybreakers combining ability (Gravitation + Division)
Dofurion posted a topic in Stormlight Archive
Context: Regarding the Radiant orders, it seems that in addition to their two corresponding surges, they have an ability that takes use of both in order to function. An example of this is how the Windrunners outline their powers: • Basic Lashing: Gravitation. • Full Lashing: Adhesion. • Inverse Lashing: Adhesion + Gravitation. It is this last one that interests us. While we haven't seen evidence of such structured schemes in the other orders, it may well be because the other two orders of which we have more POV (Bonsmiths and Lightweavers) are... peculiar themselves. Then we return to the title, Skybreakers, the order of Radiants with access to Gravitation and Division. From what we see of them in the books, they don't differ much from the Windrunners when using Gravitation and we haven't seen them use Division (Basically because they access it late), so what effects would using them at the same time have? My proposal is that it would be something similar (and opposite) to Reverse Lashing. Theory: Let's return to the basic mechanism of flight for Gravitation users, it consists of creating an illusory gravitational bond in a direction different from the real one. A radiant can distribute the bond strength 50%↑ and 50%↓ to create a 0-gravity effect (basically orienting ½ of its mass “up”), but it's not real 0-gravity. Since Gravitation actually works by redirecting the orientation of the spiritual gravitational bond, what would happen if Division were used to completely sever that bond, de facto isolating the target from any gravitational interaction?… Exactly, a real 0-gravity. What advantages does this Anti Lashing (in Windrunner terminology)? Well, in principle it is more efficient to levitate since you are not redistributing your gravitational orientation to multiple points, it is a single cutting action. And also its use for external objects would allow said objects to levitate without the need for direct contact (a limitation that we have seen in the books that the Windrunners have). Closing: Forgive any grammatical errors in the post, lately I've been writing on the phone since my PC is damaged so I can't translate comfortably. I would also like to know what you think about it, since when I started thinking about it it seemed so simple to me that I am really very sure that this is perhaps how those two Surges actually work together. -
Fun Possibilities for Other Spore Seas
Dofurion replied to bacontime's topic in Tress of the Emerald Sea
A friend made this scheme before the release of Tress: Obviously now there are things that do not fit with the current context, but in my opinion it is still a good source of speculation. -
Quick idea that came to me: Although the AonDor has always been considered the "most computational" magical system in the Cosmere, could the breaths work like a neural network? I know that today there is a certain aversion to AI but beyond the ethical and business dilemmas it is still a very interesting technology.

spoilers The Forbidden Resonance (including Wind and Truth)
Dofurion replied to Dofurion's topic in Stormlight Archive
Well, that's why I compared it with the passive skills of RPGs, they are not skills that can be used at will, but rather they are constant effects. Yes, but we still don't know the decay rate for the resonances. 3 powers could still generate a resonance. I don't think I ever said that the squires are a resonance, I am simply suggesting that in the case of the Radiants their resonances possibly also follow a pattern related to the system itself. -
My particular order for the lands is: First Land - Utol Second Land - Sel Third Land - Unknown Fourth Land - Roshar Fifth Land - Scadrial Sixth Land - Lumar Seventh Land- Komashi The first and the last are interchangeable. Well after all, a while ago I published a whole theory about it.

spoilers The Forbidden Resonance (including Wind and Truth)
Dofurion posted a topic in Stormlight Archive
First of all a Spoiler warning for ALL of the Cosmere, including advancement. I would like to start by reviewing what a resonance is: resonance, as Khriss mentions, is a kind of "additional effect" resulting from the interaction of two or more powers within a person [1]. In RPG player language, it would be something like a passive ability. A well-known example is the "strength of squires", a resonance belonging to the order of radiant knights of the Windrunners. This resonance causes this order to have an abnormally high number of squires associated with a knight [2]. Having already reviewed the term 'resonance', I think it is fair to explain the reason for the title of the publication. Well, an idea that I have had for a long time is that the resonances belonging to the orders of radiant knights are not purely generated by the interaction of their two powers (in the previous case they would be Adhesion and Gravitation) but in addition to them, the same radiant system is resonating making them 3 "power" resonances instead of just 2. My basis for this is the following WoB's: Well, this being the case, my line of thought led me to believe that the resonances of the radiants are slight alterations in the functioning of specific points of their radiant abilities, affecting the squire system or other things such as healing speed (I must admit that This is still very speculative on my part). At this point, an interesting idea also occurred to me: If the Windrunners see the number of squires they can have modified, can a similar order such as that of the Bondsmiths see the "quality" of the squires they attract modified? What can be considered a quality squire? Well, initially one that links a Sprens quickly. But we can take this further. Since Sanderson explained that double binding was possible but that keeping both oaths would be extremely complicated [4] for me the person who will achieve that would be considered one of the best knights radiant (note, not a better fighter or a better person, simply a better base roster as far as the system is concerned). Well, all this was simply a fun idea in my head-canon, that the Bondsmiths would turn into squires those who had the qualities of swearing to two orders at the same time, I mean, it even fits their purpose when seeking relationships between different groups and thus smooth out acrimony between them (In my opinion, if these individuals had existed during the desolations, the misunderstandings between orders could have been mitigated by their presence, being a kind of "ambassadors" between orders by understanding both perspectives) Then came Shallan's breakthrough in Wind and Truth and the possibility appeared. Here it is explained that dual bonding was locked out of the box while Honor was around and that it is now possible. As soon as I read this my brain clicked, the Bondsmiths in the books don't seem to have access to the squire system (yes, it's something I always had in mind, that's why it was a "fun idea" to me) and the people who They called in their squires, they did it more than anything out of conviction, but what if this was a side effect of the double binding being blocked? A resonance that, due to the intervention of the shard, has no reason to exist, not because it has been specifically eliminated, but because what it should have affected was prohibited. Here is the reason for the title 'The Forbidden Resonance'. Now I don't pretend that things actually turn out like this in the books, it is obvious that many of my proposals are based on various assumptions, I simply looked for an excuse to publish this idea that I had floating around in my head for a long time, a group of double radiants that would function as bridges between the different orders to avoid conflicts and unite them. Just one last thought: It is quite curious that one of the orders that apparently cannot have squires, shares a surge with the one that has the greatest amount per unit of radiant. Furthermore, resonances arise through the interactions of said powers. -
Regarding this particular point, I believe that the reason may be a hypothetical mechanism present in the Highstorm that is constantly producing the Honor tone. This would also explain why the Voidlight does not enter the polestones during the passage of the Everstorm, even though the same type of light seems to come out of the gem at the same rate as the Stormlight. If this is the case, you will simply have to play a tuning fork with the Preservation tone to make the fog enter the polestone.

Considering this, could it be that the answer is to find the correct order to cure them?
