  1. Hey now, we're quite open about the spiking. No one denies the spiking. The cookie, however, is a time-honored 17th Shard tradition. That said, welcome!
  2. These are really fantastic! Great idea!
  3. . Then this thread
  4. This. A thousand times this. Alternately, I have quite the Talent for breaking towel racks. No, I am not making this up. No, I don't know why, but it keeps happening.
  5. This entire thread is pretty much the most awesome thing ever. Now we just have to (re)discover the One Power....
  6. Definitely start at book 1. Even in High School, I was able to knock out 10 books in 1.5-2 months. You don't notice the slower pacing in the middle books quite so much when you have several volumes all together.
  7. Indeed. I believe I even mentioned in the OP that guys can just pretend the Ajahs apply to them as well. Or, I don't know, say you're an Asha'man and choose the Ajah of the Aes Sedai you'd want to bond/be bonded to.
  8. WoK spoilers in reply to Aethling: As to your theory, Ironeyes, I think that's definitely a solid possibility. Of course, it also helps that Austre is perceived as male and we no longer think Endowment is female.
  9. I totally thought the same thing. XD My interpretation of it was always that Nightblood, when sheathed, was in a functionally "dormant" state and thus didn't require Breaths. When drawn, however, that's when a weapon becomes "active" and, in this case, is when Nightblood would be consuming Breaths in order to do things. After all, a sheathed sword isn't good for much, except as a bludgeoning weapon. Besides, anyone smart enough to create Nightblood in the first place would probably be smart enough to make it so that he's not constantly drawing Breaths every second of every day.
  10. He's already on it. It's a little bit later on the release schedule, though. Also, fixing that typo now.
  11. Sarene even tried to use the AonDor at some point and failed. That seems to be a pretty clear indication that having been taken by the Shaod is a prerequisite for making the symbols work.
  12. Very good point. Also, that first Aon Aon is the base, and seems to be the main foundation for working AonDor. It's likely that as long as you have that proper groundwork in place, you can put in the other various patterns and it will work. After all, the other Aons - that use other strokes instead of repetitions of Aon Aon - don't require new lines.
  13. Plausible. Very plausible.
  14. E. Hyde, I remember the eyes not changing as well. And this seriously creeps me out. It almost looks like weird stone-carapaced Elantrians or something. Maybe they're confusing Elantrians with something from another book....
  15. Wow, a lot of news this time around. Great job, Comatose!

It's a neat idea, but I don't really see why it belongs in the section for book discussion. I'm moving it to the RP forum for potential gamers to discuss the scenario. Enjoy!
  17. Even though this isn't an online game, the Mistborn forum is for book discussion, so I'm moving this to the RP board. Happy gaming!
  18. Also, I have a name. Just saying.
  19. No, Chaos likes math. You're safe. .... Probably. Anyways, welcome! Have a cookie.
  20. To be fair, it's often horrible because it's required reading, or because the schools force it on students before they're ready to really get it. I hated The Canterbury Tales in high school, but now that I'm taking a whole semester on Chaucer at my University, I'm loving them.
  21. And DNOSHRD is just silly.
  22. My thoughts exactly, though we don't have enough evidence for me to be comfortable saying I absolutely believe that's what it does. I do think it's possible, though. As Brandon explained it, the "Default" setting for what happens when someone burns lerasium - no matter what planet they're from - is for that person to become Mistborn. I'm thinking this is because of lerasium's nature - being a physical embodiment of Preservation - but either way, you would actually need to know what you're doing and deliberately take the steps needed for these mysterious other effects to happen. If you don't consciously go through the right process, you'll become Mistborn (or, if you already are, your Allomantic potential will increase).
  23. Or at the very least, if they do want to apologize for something, he really doesn't care to hear it.
  24. Wow, I'm really enjoying this. It's reminding me of a lot of the things in the series that you tend to forget 12 books later. Good stuff, Ryan! Keep it up!
  25. Keep in mind, here, that it represents the physical embodiment of a Shard of Adonalsium. It doesn't make sense that something so incredible would just provide a limited amount of fuel, considering the effects we already know it has - mainly, that of, you know, rewriting spiritual DNA. Somewhat applicable to this is a discussion the 17th Sharders had with Brandon at the Alloy release (emphasis mine): This implies to me that there other are ways of rewriting your spiritual DNA using lerasium besides gaining Allomancy. So basically, in my opinion, we have two options: You ingest/burn lerasium - doing nothing else - and it increases your Allomantic potential (either granting it to you if you had none, or increasing it if you did) OR: You ingest/burn lerasium - and do some other unknown thing(s) - and other cool stuff happens. Make sense?
