  1. Awaken an entire museum's worth of armor and weapons to fight off a German invasion of the British Isles while Angela Lansbury sings....
  2. I have another thought, a little out of left-field. Reading through the epigraphs for the last section of RoW. Spoilers for RoW, sorta. Just my random musings. I don't know if he will be the big bad, but I really think he'll be heavily involved in Odium's plans going forward. Now I need to go search for any relevant WoBs. (WsoB? Which is proper?)
  3. Assuming that the 'and' is a common logical AND (which is a safe assumption), I hereby invoke the commutative property and thus: R∧G <-> G∧R Therefore, it doesn't make any difference. I think that's all part of their cunning plan. You should always suspect those that you assume you shouldn't suspect. But then you suspect everyone and no one at the same time and we're back to square one. Actually, I'm just wondering if it's an intentional red herring or if it was just unintentional. I've seen several WoBs that reference little tiny details that he hopes someone notices but then there are others where one little detail lines up nicely with some other story-line but BS says they're totally unrelated when asked about it. I think it's probably unintentional in this case.
  4. I'm listening to Oathbringer again and heard something that caught my attention. About half-way through chapter 107 "The First Steps", the Tashikki mention a specific fighting group. It's "the 13th Battalion, Red and Gold." I've read through most of the "MoRaG" threads that I can find and haven't seen that particular instance mentioned. It really is probably another red herring. (Still looking for a gold herring.) But I think the Tashikki are going to take over the Cosmere. With spanreeds. And Griffindor. Seriously, though. Red and gold combo seems to show up in some really unusual places.
  5. 61. Since Lightweavers can work with sound also, add sound to a Tesla to make it sound like a 1970 Buick 455 GSX Stage 1 with a good Flowmaster or Borla exhaust. And the Buick has to be painted Yellow. They yellow ones sound better.
  6. After Apathy is created, Apathy and Virtuosity could merge... The result, being "Underachiever". They would create a system populated by a race of people who have spectacular innate talent for piano but can't motivate themselves to practice. No, it's not an autobiography, I promise. Really. But, yeah, I should have practiced more.
  7. Fixed it for ya. That keeps coming back to me as him possibly foreshadowing something. I don't want Kelsier to be the bad guy, but I think best case scenario is he'll be a chaotic neutral force in whatever is coming. I really can see it turning into something where there are two sides, both that have understandable and reasonable goals, but the sides goals are so at-odds with each other that they end up in a Cosmere-wide conflict. Related: (And then Stick finally asserts the control he's always had when we find out he's had the power to restore Adonalsium all along.) And how do the Aether things (primal or no) factor into everything? That's something I really don't know much about but it sounds ominous.
  8. I think it's going to be Shob. (Spoilers for nothing in particular.) I have an actual theory on who the big-bad will be but I'm still working through it. I'll post it in the next week or two, hopefully.
  9. I don't know which house he would end up in either, but when they went to get the sorting hat, it had been replaced with a half-eaten donut stuffed in a very nice sock. And what would happen in Wayne's head when he puts on the sorting hat? I think it might form some sort of singularity.
  10. The secret to the Malwish being able to craft unkeyed metalminds is the prevalence of lutefisk and surströmming within their culture. The real breakthrough came when the they figured out that Windwhisperers could work with both types of nasty fish while storing smell and taste so they could stay in the same room for more than 20 seconds. The metalmind is crafted and then dipped into the surströmming for 37 seconds where, because of the horrific smell, is able to overcome and destroy all Identity in any object. That and the Swedish Chef is secretly a Malwish worldhopper.
  11. @dannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnex I have to respectfully disagree with your interpretation. I lost my wife just under 4 years ago. I lost a daughter a month before that. You forget all. the. time. I really liked that particular part specifically because it felt so natural to me. About 6 months after my wife died, I picked up the phone to call her from the store to see if she wanted me to grab something that she particularly liked but they hadn't had in stock for a year or so. After my daughter's death but before my wife's, I tried to call my daughter from the hospital to update her on my wife's condition and results of tests. "It hurt anew when {I} remembered" but I had to keep going because I didn't have any choice. I had to talk to doctors, medical supply places, the insurance company, etc. without crawling back into my own head the way I wanted to. That's probably where Nomad was at the time. It hurt, but he had to keep doing what he knew would keep him alive. Being broken and doing what needs to be done aren't mutually exclusive. Even being remarried, I'll still see something and often my instinct is to call my late wife and tell her about something I heard or saw. Or call my daughter when I've made chili or fried up some fish. When I read that line it really did feel like a totally natural reaction to me. But with that said, I know that there are others who have been through what I've been through who wouldn't see it the same way.
  12. Beats the heck out of the dreams about matrices, Gauss elimination, and L/U decomp that I've been having for the last week. Glad I'm only taking one class this summer. 30 years ago I probably wouldn't have struggled with it, but my brain's old now. Part of that is from the dream (the "rogue" part). Part of it is from just thinking about questions like what powers/personalities that are out in the cosmere haven't really been explored and would make things really interesting (terrifying/terminal/functionally-weird) if they took up a shard? The "Autonomy doing something to Odium" piece of the theory has been brought up before, I think. I don't think that's really their style, though. They seem to be playing more of a long-game. I'm kinda new at this and I really should be taking notes while I'm listening to the books, but most of it happens while I'm driving. Yeah, that would be kinda scary. Dalinar gets turned into a fused. Szeth obeys fused Dalinar because of his oath. Dalinar is being controlled by TOdium. If that happens, though, SF would probably be at least severely weakened because of the broken bond unless Dalinar stayed bonded. Again, releasing BAM could come into play with lots of this relating to both the spren and fused. And I have no idea what Cultivation is up to enabling Todium to be a thing. That's a bit of a wildcard, also. Also, the way that Odium was defeated in my dream involved Tasers and cattle prods, so I think those should be worked into the second half of SA books somehow. They'll probably have harnessed electricity at that point on Roshar. I don't know if chull-prods would be a thing with their carapace.
  13. I have a little different theory for 5. I have thought about it quite a bit, but have had to focus on other things lately. But most of this particular theory is from a dream I had the other night. So it has to be good. And then at the end of the dream, Kaladin was finally able to become a Broadway Producer like he had dreamed his whole life. His first play was "The Cremling Follies." I don't know if any of that makes sense. I've only listened to the books (but I have listened to all of them, at least once) so I may have missed something in the translation to audio like when shards names are used and capitalized for extra meaning in a sentence. Matt
  14. Hi, everyone. Greetings from Central Utah. I think I've listened to all of the available Cosmere novels/novellas/short stories that are available. I only own Dawnshard in dead-tree form but I think I need to get the printed texts for ease of research. I'm an avid reader, but I rarely read any fiction. I have read lots of technical and religious books. I'm a software engineer and one of my duties at work is to do lots of research and reading to understand new technologies and pass that on to the rest of the team. Fiction wise, I've listened to the full Harry Potter series (none of the Fantastic beasts stuff, yet), The Lord of the rings, the Silmarillion, and all the Cosmere texts available on Audible. And Never Sniff a Gift Fish by Patrick F. McManus. If you're an outdoorsy type person (camping, hunting, fishing), you'll appreciate that one. I'm sure I've missed some stuff because I've only listened to them. I'm a software engineer by trade, but I also work on cars and build guitar amps although I haven't built an amp in quite a while. My favorite POV character is probably Dalinar. I lost my wife about a year before I started listening to WoK, my first Sanderson book. It was about the time I had started dating my "chapter 2" (current wife) who was also widowed and so the Dalinar-Navani storyline hit very close to home for me. My favorite non-POV character is probably Ham. At least I don't think he's had any POV-time. I say "probably" in both cases because it does seem to change. And of course, Hoid. He's just Hoid. Everyone's favorite. Anyway, glad to be here. Matt
  15. I'm kind of new to all this Cosmere speculation, but I had on thought that seems to follow from this discussion. (I do lots of speculation in real life, mostly about why my C++ code isn't working or, more surprisingly, why it is working. ) If the Set were testing these Ettmetal + Trellium bombs under Bilming, would that have created small deposits of Atium and Lerasium with each of the explosions. I don't have the physical book but listened to it on Audible so it's not quite as easy to go back to "re-read" something. I'll probably pick up the dead-tree version soon. It doesn't seem like the amount of Atium that Wax generated with his explosion would be enough to sustain Marsh for very long. Maybe Marsh (or some assortment of Kandra) was in Bilming collecting/finding this residue?
