FOREWARNING: this is kind of grim, so don't read it if you're squeamish Alright yeah so this might be a little bit messed up, sorry But I was really genuinely thinking about this, so you guys get to hear about it too! So, I've devised some methods of torture for some specific Metallic Art users (well some are more torture than others). For example, a Firesoul (F-Brass). A Firesoul is suspended above a pit of molten brass, and given access to no metals other than a spike holding them up above the brass. Then, the Firesoul is lowered into the molten brass. The Firesoul is then allowed to store heat into the brass, but for a brief moment they are in extreme pain. After about 3 or 4 minutes, they are raised out of the molten brass, and allowed "rest" (they are still being cooked by the heat from the molten metal). This method would likely be very effective, as the Firesoul would be forced to endure the pain from the heat in the air, and extreme pain from a brief touching of the brass before being able to store away that heat. Eventually, done enough, this would make the molten metal cool enough to solidify, and upon this happening, the Firesoul would be lowered, and encased from the waist down in the extremely hot metal. If the Firesoul were to stop storing at any point during this process, the pain they would endure before dying would be immense. Another example, for an Aluminium Gnat (A-Aluminium), one that is actually a WoB: I can also see this method being used for some kind of extremely religious monk type deal, where the practitioner "cleanses their soul" through this method (though currently a tad expensive) Windwhisperer (F-Tin) In this method, a victim is given increasingly small bits of tin, while being subjected to immense amounts of pain, such as with traditional torture methods. Then, they come to rely on tin, almost like a drug, relying on storing the pain so as to not feel anything. They might also have to be blindfolded, so as to not pre-emptively store tin before the pain starts. They begin to associate tin with not feeling anything (i.e. no more pain) Then you may control the person, effectively making them a slave, as they will do anything for a bit of tin. Steelrunner (F-Steel) Have a hamster-wheel setup, where the output is tied to a powergrid or something. This one is more just forced labour but still. In the future-ish, could have several steelrunners imprisoned in individual cells, in steel manacles or something, that is placed on them via a robot hand, so no steelrunner is given the opportunity to tap and kill a guard or something. Then, they are forced to run on the hamster wheels, to generate electricity. If they do not, or they do not run for long enough, etc., then I guess they're probably like killed or something. Just something to incentivise them to run. In a similar vein, could have Brute/Thug fight clubs, where fighters with Metallic Arts are pitted against each other. Basically just abused fighters being profited off by rich people, while the fighters get scraps, just to get by. Again, it's less of a torture method and more of an unethical business scheme, but still great for taking advantage of others for personal gain.

I wonder how this comes into play with ADHD and other similar conditions. I thought of that because when I read Wax hardcore tapping zinc during BoM, I was like "So.. it doesn't make you smarter, just think faster? What if he can't concentrate on the situation at hand lol" More just curious, but if someone with ADHD was storing zinc (the ability to parse information (in my own words lol)), while not being able to concentrate, is the "quality" of that Investiture worse than if they were fully able to concentrate while storing? Or would there just be less Investiture stored? Again, more just a curiosity than anything. For me though personally, I don't think I'd be able to handle going 25% slower than I already am I'd love to be able to tap zinc though! It'd make some of my uni classes way easier to understand haha

I like the idea of Kaladin's Herald name being "Ladal'Elin" "Ladal" from KaLADin over time perhaps there could be consonant shifting from a "d" sound to a "r" sound, so then he's called Laral

Potential other God metals and what they could do.
Njvodin replied to Belandrius Ohhmar's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I'd agree with the point that a God-metal's ability is affected by the Intent of the parent Shard, however I feel like Tanavastium and Raysium would not have those effects. I say this because the Vessel's views on the Intent of the Shard do not affect how a magic system's power works (except for direct change, like with how Snapping changed). For example, Scadrial's Mistborn, Feruchemists, and Hemalurgists work almost the exact same way, if not the exact same way, pre- and post- Catacendre. This is also indicated how Lerasium works the same way, regardless of the holder of the Shard. To me, this means that Tanavastium most likely would be more tied to Spiritual Connection in the form of Bonds, possibly with some form of Bondsmithing. I say this, because the surge of Bondsmithing is purely of Honor, not a mix with Cultivation. The Intent of Honor, as defined by the Coppermind, seeks to uphold oaths and agreements, and to bind things together. This could mean that, while burning Tanavastium, word is literally law, i.e. if someone said "I swear that I will give you 10 diamond chips by tomorrow", then they HAVE to do that (or else?) I do like your idea of Raysium, but I feel like we also can't ignore Rayse's perspective (not specifically his views upon holding the Shard, but his perspective) on Odium, where the "true" Intent of Odium is feeling emotion, and Passion. Many other people such as Hoid and Frost say that Odium is the Shard of God's divine wrath, but Rayse believes it is simply just feeling emotions. Taravangian also states that feeling emotion is more accurate than Hoid's interpretation of only hatred and wrath, but also says that subtler emotions like "love" don't register with the Shard, and it tends to like anger above all others. So, knowing all this about Odium's Intent, I feel like burning Raysium opens the user to high intensity emotion, instead of just being bad for the mental health. As for the ability it gives, I do like how you think it could be Chromium-plus lol. I feel like it could be like that, but I also want to think up other ways the Intent could affect the ability of the metal. So, it could be like super-powerful emotional Allomancy, but without the subtlety, so its just like a massive Riot or Soothe. That seems a bit lame though. Maybe it allows you to feel what the target is feeling, something that emotional Allomancy notably does NOT allow (except maybe with Hemalurgic constructs? unclear). It could be that these theories/predictions from me might be a little too on the nose, as Lerasium and Preservation's Intent are only loosely related (giving you Connection to a magic system + preserving things?), and Atium and Ruin's Intent are even more so. At the end of the day, it's hard to say what anything will be in the future (mechanics-wise), because it's up to Brandon's creative decision, and not everything has a 100% plan. It is fun to theorise though -
Yup it looks pretty spot on, only it's a shame that there's no Dalinar for the reforging of the Oathpact

This is really awesome, and I'm surprised no one has commented yet! Looks great, well done

Welcome, have a cookie Who's your favourite character in the cosmere?

Could also be that Agelessness in a Feruchemic sense is achieved via atium, and Vasher most likely knows that there is no more mass produced atium, so it would be very hard for Axwindeth to get her hands on atium. Maybe that's what Vasher was thinking? Only thinking about Feruchemy?

I second that, I literally got chills when reading that scene in Azir. I mean, he left a vacuum when he moved! And then seeing the aftermath... WHEW.

Make predictions about Era 2's magic system
Njvodin replied to Atlas333's topic in Stormlight Archive
Honor's power only sees Oaths being kept as satisfactory, so if someone breaks an Oath (if it's taken extremely literally, then breaking the law can be seen as breaking an Oath), then Retribution will have no issue in bringing, well, retribution. That being said, Honor's power is somewhat alive, so it may learn that such an extreme, exclusive outlook isn't strictly right, so eventually, maybe by the second era, the power is more restrictive on Retribution -
I was under the impression that Dalinar's reputation as the Blackthorn turned into a spren, not simply just a connection via Bondsmith. I'm sure it certainly helped that Connection could be manipulated, but we have been told that once a collective thinks of someone, or something, as something else, then it can become a sapient being (e.g. a spren)

I believe that Oaths have been seen on screen to transcend Ascension, with Rayse and Taravangian's Oath that Kharbranth will not be attacked, though Taravangian was on the receiving end of that oath. I think it would still apply though

the Survival Shard may be in the "Protect" category, as it could be considered a form of self-protection. Mercy, to me, seems more of a "Feel" than a "Protect", but I can see it being both too.

A Stormlight Anime/Animated series
Njvodin replied to ruler of the mists's topic in Stormlight Archive
Not here to spread any controversy with my hot takes, but I saw this and wanted to say that I agree, and that in my opinion, Arcane S2 was really not great, I wouldn't want them near the cosmere either after that mess. If it turned out to be more like S1, then I'd be happy -
I was always under the impression that it was red that signifies the corruption of Investiture, just not always. I think that black doesn't necessarily mean corruption, but red is more likely to be actual corrupted Investiture
