Kellion heard the frantic shouts of his guards before the doors burst open.
“Prophet! There was an assassination last night. Lord R2D2 has been murdered!”
Kellion turned slowly from his prayer mat, his voice calm despite the chaos simmering around him.
“Quite timely that you come now, just as I am finishing my prayers. I will include Lord R2D2 in them.”
“You are most generous, my Lord,” said Mat, bowing deeply. He was devout, unwavering in the ways of the Survivor. “But you must think of your own safety. The Nobility who worship the Tyrant hate you. You will be their next target.”
“Fear not,” Kellion replied, his eyes steady and serene. “I am protected by the Survivor. He will shield me from all harm. Now leave me, for a few moments more, so I may finish my prayers.”
“As you command, my Lord,” Mat murmured, touching his hands to his temples in reverence.
When the chamber fell silent again, Kellion allowed himself a small smile.
The Survivor was already clearing the path—destroying the unholy and the impious Nobility who had brought so much suffering.
He decided then. He knew exactly who needed to be dealt with if the world was ever to change—truly change—into a place without class, without divisions carved into the bones of society.
The pompous Lord Hoid Slayer had to go. The arrogant drunk had sat in power far too long, rotting the realm from the inside. Only by removing him could the rule of the people be restored.
Elend… yes, Elend was a weak leader, but his ideals matched Kellion’s. They pointed toward a better world. Yet even so, if you let snakes roam freely, they will bite sooner or later. They would poison this one as well, if Kellion did nothing.
And Kellion would not let that happen.
Not while the Survivor guided his hand.
I vote HoidSlayer
