  1. Also on the new map in the book, there's a south-south continent that I assume the Malwish call 'The Maskless', which is very intriguing to me. Perhaps that place might be a prison island like Australia was, a place for the Malwish to exile their criminals? Because otherwise that would mean there's actually three distinct societies on Scadrial which is crazy to think about. Edit: I just had a brainwave: Wax is technically a Mistborn with additional Allomantic genes, Steris has said that she wanted another kid. What would be the odds that the 'Ladrian' bloodline becomes (even more) super famous for having Mistborn in their family?
  2. I recall a particular WOB (Which I can't bloody find on the Arcanum) that compared Savantism to the Nahel Bond and called Savantism 'Uncontrolled'. So I'm wondering if it were plausible that there would be a way to 'Control' Allomantic Savantism, gaining more of the benefits with less of the extreme downsides. Like controlling the extreme tin-savantism so that your tin-senses would be greatly enhanced while leaving your regular the same? Basically what I'm asking is would it be possible to cheat Savantism.
  3. Could you go so far into savanting with Allomancy that it kills you? Like what if Spook decided to constantly Flare tin years earlier? Would the extreme Savanting eventually kill him or would it just become so extreme that his abilities would be effectively unusable? I ask this because becoming a Savant involves your soul being saturated in Investiture for long periods of time which causes 'cracks' in your Spiritweb, could these cracks grow so much that they kill you or is there a kind of limit on Savantism.
  4. So Moonlight is undoubtedly... Not only that but...
  5. Goddamn there's so many things I want to say, but after I was finished reading only one thought came to mind: WE STILL DON'T KNOW CRAP ABOUT THE MEDALLIONS!!! Also holy crap Wax did split Harmonium, he's a friggin Mistborn at the end! And Wayne, damn he went out in the biggest blaze of glory Scadrial has ever seen.
  6. A Day In The Life Of A Coinshot Courier Part 1 (Mistborn Era 2) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Throughout the Cosmere, there have been many stories told on many worlds, each as unique and meaningful as the birth of a star. This is a story in a world formerly covered by Mist and Ash, a world where heroes became legends and gods had died, a world that would soon rest in the hands of a courageous Allomancer, the champion of Harmony, fighting against the forces that sought to unmake everything he had ever known. This is not the story of that particular Allomancer. This is the story of another Allomancer being woken up by his absurdly loud alarm clock. With it's rapid ringing echoing throughout his rather small bedroom. In the middle of this room was a mattress laying on the floor, with a lump covered with a blanket on the top of it. The top of this lump shifted the blanket revealing a head full of unkempt black hair. The head shifted until facing the window next to his mattress. Tim gave a soft groan as he blearily opened his eyes, he then preceded to close them and groan louder as he was blinded by the light coming from his window, facing the sun as it was rising. "Oh bloody rusting..." Tim annoyedly murmured out loud as he sat up and rubbed his eyes before trying to silence the ringing of the infernal contraption that he regretted buying every morning. After feeling around for it on his nightstand, while nearly swiping a vial filled with oil and metal flakes off by accident, he slammed his hand on the top of it, allowing his room to be drenched in blessed silence. Despite the warmth of his banket enticing Timothy back to sleep he knew he had other obligations for the day, so after throwing off the blanket and standing up he went over to his wardrobe and got changed into his usual work clothes, a plain black shirt and pants, with a belt rimmed with pockets. "Gee, real daring today aren't you Tim?" He snarked at himself for how basic his choice always was. As he left his room he made sure to snag the four vials sitting next to his accursed alarm clock and the two small bags of coins under his mattress, tucking each of them into his belt pockets. Timothy Elariel, or just Tim as he preferred to be known, lived in a quaint little apartment in the fifth Octant of Elendel. Within view of the, rather overcompensating in his own humble opinion, Tekiel Tower. He disliked how it took up so much of the cityscape, why did buildings even have to be built so rusting tall anyway? He supposed that it came down to whichever arrogant idiot was currently running the oh-so great House Tekiel. Not that Tim really gave a rusting damn how proper nobles did things, he had more important tasks to deal with, such as getting his own breakfast ready. Checking his cupboards showed they were becoming quite bare, he'd have to have a shopping trip soon. He grabbed a packet of oats and turned on his stove to boil some water. While his body went through the motions of cooking his thoughts strayed to the rest of his day. If he remembered right he'd need to deliver five packages before noon, then six more before he could clock off. As Tim sat down and began eating a bowlful of tasteless, bland oats one spoonful at a time he realized that when he did go out for more food, he should try to fit honey into the list so he actually enjoy breakfast instead of just leaving it half-eaten all the time. He'd need to cut something else out of the list, perhaps cod oil? It wasn't as if he didn't already have enough for the next week or so. Heck he could just put his steel flakes into empty vials if he had to, it wouldn't make that much of a difference. As he changed his mental shopping list he stood up, leaving behind a half-eaten bowl of oats, he walked out of his apartment while locking his door behind him then started to go for the stairs, there were a few people walking past him, also leaving for work. They went around him, trying not to make eye contact, they knew what he was. Tim tried not to let that bother him, it wasn't as if he was actually a noble these days. He supposed that the difference between a noble metalborn and a regular metalborn would be rather meaningless in the eyes of the average person as he went up the stairs to the roof. He debated whether he should check his mail, then decided to leave that for later so he could at least try to enjoy his day at work. Most people wouldn't go up to the roof unless they were having a smoke, but Tim was not most people. He came onto the roof, the apartment complex he was living in was one of the larger buildings in the neighborhood. He walked right up to the edge of the roof, peered over it to remind himself just how far up he was, six stories up, a height that would unnerve most others, all it did for Tim was put a smile on his face. He grabbed a few coins from his belt pouches in preparation. He breathed in a deep breath, pulled one of his vials from his belt, opened it and drank it's contents. Immediately he felt that familiar warmth within his body, a well of power at his beck and call. His Allomancy. As he began to lightly Burn his steel, Tim saw the familiar blue lines spread from his chest, leading to all metals around him. With his heart beginning to race he leaped off of the roof and began to fall. Then when he Flared his steel and Pushed on the pipes and framework of the building behind him, he flew. Within Timothy's blood existed a power that all coveted, the power to Burn metals for supernatural abilities. The metal he could Burn was steel, which made Tim a Coinshot, the most well known of all Mistings. Timothy was grateful for living in Elendel, though living tended to be hard if you weren't a noble, the sheer amount of metal a Coinshot like him could Push off of made even the simple experience of going to work an absolute blast. He was well experienced in how to Push oneself around the city and it showed in how his feet rarely touched the ground, he Pushed off of anything that could get him higher and further. He looked down at the street, seeing the people walking around stopping and staring at him in amazement, he saw the occasional automobile and scoffed at them. They were faster transportation than carriages by a large margin, but they were incredibly noisy and hideously expensive to buy and even keep. He was glad that he'd never need to buy one. Not that he could afford it. His distraction caused his Pushing skills to slip and he accidentally Pushed on a lamp post at the wrong angle, sending him hurtling towards the wall of a building, Tim gritted his teeth and Flared his Steel, Pushing several coins to the floor at breakneck speeds and as they hit the floor they sent him hurtling above the building. He managed to land somewhat gently on the roof and let out a sigh of relief. He looked back and saw that the lamp post was bent wrong from his Push, Tim winced. "Harmony I hope that doesn't get posted in a broadsheet" He said to himself. He took a minute to catch his breath and let his jitters pass. He let this be a reminder to himself, even if he knew what he was doing, he should never get distracted while Steelpushing himself around the city. That would only end more close calls for himself. He threw down another coin and Pushed himself to the next roof. Soon enough he was back to enjoying the freedom of movement throughout the city, then soon after that his favorite pastime came to an end as he made it to his place of employment. Quicksilver Deliveries, a small courier company that was lucky enough to sit right across from the Fifth Octants smaller railway station. Tim tossed a coin down near the door and brought himself down, Pushing lightly enough on the coin to make the landing soft. "Time to get to work" Tim murmured to himself as he entered the establishment to begin his day of labor. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Author's Note: Hey everyone. Just trying to finally grind my [Writing] Skill over here. I'll be doing this until the neurons in my brain finally decide to get with the memo. Then I'll be posting some actual stories onto Spacebattles. In the mean time I hope you enjoy my first attempts at actually writing stuff. If you have any criticisms, I'd like to hear them so I know how to improve. This particular snippet is an idea I've actually had for a while, but as with many of my writing ideas I've just never stuck with it long enough to get through the planning phase and start writing it out, so I've decided to stop planning so much and just let my fingers type what they want and keep going until I'm satisfied with what I've written. This idea was born through the thought of just how amazing it must be to be a Coinshot Courier, being able to Push yourself throughout a cityscape in a psuedo-flight, experiencing an incredible experience everyday as a job. I kind of wish Brandon had showed us more of the fantastical mundanity of Metalborn finding ways to profit themselves with their powers, instead of just telling us about them. But I'm not too hung up about it, that's what Fanfics are for! Besides we'll probably be seeing more of this kind of stuff in Era 3.
  7. The integration of Metalborn into Scadrial's society is there, it's just only mentioned instead of shown. It had been kind of weird not seeing any of the Coinshot Couriers or the Soothing Parlours that are mentioned. Very strange indeed. Hopefully Era 3 will rectify this.
  8. Sonic Frontiers, it is pretty much the greatest sonic game to ever come out in my oh-so-humble opinion. The worst part about the game was the wait for it to come out. Some janky physics and slightly confusing story if you don't know much about the lore of Sonic Games but overall it's worth every cent.
  9. A Titan Boss Music from Sonic Frontiers called 'Undefeatable'. Total banger and playing to it is basically perfection.
  10. I'm reading the Skyward series, I got the first three books. I'm having a bit of trouble getting into a readers mindset though. Eh, I'll get around to it eventually. Mostly just waiting for Lost Metal to come out, then I'll have to wait longer because I live in Australia, all the while doing my best to avoid any spoilers because I want a (mostly) fresh read through.
  11. SONIC FRONTIERS IS OUT AND I HAVE FINISHED IT!!! Please put any spoilers in a Spoiler tag, as I don't want to risk ruining the awesomeness of the newest Sonic Game for anyone. I'd say my favorite part was the Super Sonic Boss Battles against the Titans. The banger music, the new combat mechanics for Super Sonic instead of just 'Bump into the boss until they die', and the sheer epicness of the Titans themselves. Just perfection. The story and new lore was pretty interesting too. Who would have ever have guessed that... Plus the continuity nods to other parts of Sonic's history was the icing on the cake, they should definitely get Ian Flynn onboard for writing the story for the next Sonic Game (He's the guy who's writing the comics). And the open zone, my god was it great. I have so few words to describe it. Didn't care much for the Cyberspace levels though, they weren't bad or anything I just didn't care for them, ended up just skipping most of them around halfway through the game. Wasn't completely perfect though, there's not a whole lot of momentum and there is some jankiness to some of the physics. But overall this is definitely a game that I think most people will enjoy.
  12. I'm pretty curious as to whether the Ghostbloods have access to the Southern Scadrian Medallions, I can't remember any particular description of Mraize wearing any kind of Medallion, though that just might be because they'd be hidden under clothes to prevent people from figuring out about them. Maybe in SA 5 we'll be seeing Southern Scadrian tech being used as the Ghostbloods try to kill Shallan, I'd think that a Chromium Primer Cube would be immensely useful in taking down any of the Radiants, especially since they won't know what a Primer Cube is.
  13. It'd probably blow him in half, which he can heal from. He'd also likely be crazy enough to do it too if he had a reason to.
  14. During the Splitting experiment, Lerasium was almost seen and was described as 'Whiteish-blue'. Just splitting hairs over here don't mind me.
  15. Currently watching Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts on Netflix. The style of it feels nostalgically retro. Will be watching Sonic Prime when it comes out in December.
  16. Ok I've looked at the Arcanum and found this: So Rashek may or may not have been Spiked with Hemalurgic Spikes, but apparently they also could have been just regular Metalminds pierced into his skin to hide them. So I don't know what to think. But another WOB I found but can no longer find for some dumb reason is that Shards can apparently freely talk to Slivers, 'Peer-to-Peer' was the descriptor of this. So Ruin might not have needed Rashek to Spike himself to drive him crazy.
  17. Weren't his Atium Bands also Hemalurgic Spikes? I'm pretty sure that he did that to ensure that so his Metalminds couldn't be Pushed and also couldn't be simply yanked off of him. Not sure why he'd even consider Spiking himself with any kind of Spike in the first place, especially since he knew Ruin could manipulate people with Spikes, so I guess that 'Atium Insanity' theory could have some merit.
  18. It's just what happens when someone holds a lot of Investiture. Weird stuff happens even if they don't have any Invested Arts of their own.
  19. But how? How would Odium have been able to circumvent the Oathpact so much that he could send an entire Splinter or Avatar to another System when the Oathpact, weakened or not, prevents him from leaving Braize? If he could all this time then why not send said Splinter or Avatar to Roshar to help with conquering it? It just doesn't add up for me. So that's why Trell isn't Odium to me. Of course with The Lost Metal coming out this month I suppose I'll need to be ready to eat my own words.
  20. One of the main reasons I don't think it's Odium is because he's been stuck on Braize all this time and would have very little influence outside of Desolations. He couldn't have sent a Voidspren or Fused since they are stuck with him so he'd need Worldhoppers to have any proper footholds in other worlds, which he might be willing to do, but wouldn't it make more sense to use such assets to, say, help him get out of his prison instead of trying to screw around with other worlds and potentially provoke a reaction from other Shards? It just doesn't make much sense to me that Rayse wouldn't be focused on Roshar, since regaining his freedom would be his top priority. It'd make more sense for the New Odium to do something like that, but Trell has been interfering on Scadrial for decades before he Ascended.
  21. Hmmm yeah. That makes sense. Still the whole 'electro-whatchamacallit' did show that while conventional science probably won't be able to split Harmonium, it does show to people in-universe that it may be possible. Though considering that Brandon has said you'd need to use a Magical Method to actually split them, I doubt anything in the Metallic Arts would help with the endeavor. Maybe if a Dustbringer or a Skybreaker used the Surge of Division on it while in it's near-split state?
  22. Touche. Either I'm wrong or Harmony decided to change the colors. I'm just thinking that it's a strange choice for Lerasium to be blue-ish white and that it might have had some kind of link to the blue Perpendicularity that is most likely Harmony's.
  23. Maybe Harmony made a new Perpendicularity with it? Not sure where he'd put it or what reason it should narratively exist but he could have. Hold on, Lerasium is blue, Harmony's suspected Perpendicularity from a news sheet is also described as blue. Coincidence? Perhaps. Or maybe this adds weight to Harmony having 2 Perpendicularities.
  24. Ehhhh I personally doubt it, because if that were the case then Harmony would know who is trying to mess with Scadrial, since it is his power and all, but he doesn't know a single thing about Trell. Plus the 'Red Ring around Scadrial' thing from BoM almost explicitly implies (to me at least) that Trell isn't from Scadrial. This theory doesn't quite add up for me.
  25. Coolio. Also if you've read the SA Novella Dawnshard then there is a implication that
