So if you have a Selish Art like AonDor, then you can leave Sel but you lose your powers, but if you're a Surgebinder then you can't actually leave Roshar at all? I thought you just lost your Connection to your Spren. I think I remember Mraize saying something about this but I can't remember the exact wording.

Another OP thing Bondsmiths can do.
JustQuestin2004 replied to Frustration's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Ishar could also steal Dalinar's Connection to Odium, and Allomancy is technically a Bond to Preservation/Harmony so in my mind the answer is probably. Bondsmiths are just so OP it's not even funny. It's a good thing there can only ever be 4 at anytime or they'd just break the whole Cosmere over their knees. -
Which Shards are Marasi and Moonlight discussing?
JustQuestin2004 replied to Fish613's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Perhaps Mercy? Maybe Mercy could be trying to absorb the Splintered remains of Ambition after the battle in the Threnody System? That could be an answer as to why Harmony says that 'Mercy worries him'. Bit of a stretch but it could be possible. -
Compounded chromium and other cosmere "fortune"

Yeah, less Rube Goldberg shenanigans and more 'My gut says to go this way... Wow I'm a millionaire now!' -
Compounded chromium and other cosmere "fortune"

I kind of imagine it like a Spider-Sense, except instead of just guiding you away from danger it'll guide you to beneficial opportunities. -
Can you threadmark stuff?
JustQuestin2004 replied to JustQuestin2004's topic in 17th Shard Discussion
Okay, thanks for answering. -
So I'm starting to post stories on this site, and I've realized that if I don't want people to have to go hunting for stories I post then I'm going to have to threadmark stuff. Any ideas on how to do that? Or maybe if there's a word limit on posts with spoilers?

Mistborn, Feruchemist, Awakener, Surgebinder or Elantrian?
JustQuestin2004 replied to Ati16's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I'd pick Elantrian if it means I get sent to Elantris. The not only am I immortal, but I also have access to one of if not the most versatile Magic System in the Cosmere. Sure it'll take time to master it, but I'd have all the time in the world thanks to being immortal. If not and I just get the powers where I am right now then I'd go with the Fifth Heightening for the Agelessness. Space Age here I come! -
Alright so I'll break it down into a step by step process: Step 1: Possess matching Allomantic and Feruchemical powers, such as having A-Gold and F-Gold. Step 2: Fill your Metalmind. Make sure it's something you can swallow like a bead or something. Step 3: Swallow your metalmind and Burn it Allomantically. The Metalmind will 'Trick' Preservation/Harmony's Investiture into fueling the Feruchemy and provide you with far more of the attribute than you put in. Like taking a hand crank flashlight and hooking it up to a generator. Step 4: Store the excess attribute into another metalmind, then Burn that, get even more than before, then store that excess into another metalmind and repeat. And thus you have unlimited Health/Speed/Strength/Weight/Whatever metal your Feruchemy is.

How did Kelsier lose his powers?
JustQuestin2004 replied to TheWanderer's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I don't think it was ever said if he could or not, but if he could use Unsealed Metalminds then why did he hide the Bands of Mourning and not keep them for himself? When he is explicitly looking for a way to use Allomancy again?- 31 replies

I think that for an easy mode you should put in some kind of mechanic that lets you trace instead of drawing it all by yourself. Because most people aren't artists. As for Chalklings and their sheer subjectivity, you could just make it so that there are only a few types the player can draw and they have to select which ones they can draw before any duels or something like that.

Which twinborn combo would you choose ?
JustQuestin2004 replied to Friendshipspren's topic in Mistborn
I dunno, I just feel like someone would have said something about it, like Kelsier talking about it when teaching Vin... Oh wait he says "Don't Flare your metals for too long, or your body may become dependent on it". Oh you might be right. -

JustQuestin2004 replied to Friendshipspren's topic in Mistborn
So your saying that Pewter Savants suffer severe muscle atrophy when not Burning Pewter? But didn't Sazed say that Pewter Savants just lose their sense of pain and exhaustion, thus dying when they push their bodies too far? I feel like we would have known if Pewter-induced muscle atrophy was a thing by now. -

JustQuestin2004 replied to Friendshipspren's topic in Mistborn
But A-Pewter doesn't replace your actual muscles, it just enables them to function to a much higher degree than they normally would. Vin was Burning Pewter pretty much all the time in WoA, to help keep herself awake for days or weeks and she never got any atrophy. Either way neither she nor Kelsier, nor Hammond has ever said "If you Burn Pewter too long, you get weaker". -
Which twinborn combo would you choose ?
JustQuestin2004 replied to Friendshipspren's topic in Mistborn
They do indeed go well together, it'd be superior to my now preferred combo of A-Pewter and F-Steel by one particular advantage. F-Gold heals Spiritual Wounds like from Shardblades while A-Pewter cannot. I'd say that my 'Blitzer', that's what I'm calling a Twinborn with A-Pewter and F-Steel, would be more versatile. They'd be capable of storing far more speed by Flaring Pewter, then instead of Tapping all of their speed for one big burst they could just triple or quadruple it, which would greatly enhance the power gained from Flaring Pewter, which would not only result in them going even faster then they should be but also becoming more graceful, stronger, durable and other such benefits. Still it'd take a lot of Pewter in the long term that Spook-Level Savantism is guaranteed, though maybe that isn't a totally bad thing as long as the Blitzer knew their limits and didn't go overboard. -
Can Shardic intent become self defeating or contradictory?
JustQuestin2004 replied to Sir Nil's question in Cosmere Q&A
Trying to invert a Shard's Intent? I don't think this would be possible, Kelsier in Secret History found out firsthand with Preservation as how to hard it is to make a Shard act opposite to it's intent. Basically impossible. You'd get a bit of leeway if you were a new Vessel but you wouldn't be able to act completely contradictory for very long or to the extent that the very Intent of the Shard would flip on it's head. The Shard uses the Vessel almost as much as the Vessel uses the Shard is what I'm saying. -
Interesting that he said 'you can go to Braize or Ashyn', does this mean that if a Radiant went to Ashyn somehow, then they wouldn't be far enough to lose their powers?

Which twinborn combo would you choose ?
JustQuestin2004 replied to Friendshipspren's topic in Mistborn
In terms of 'if I was in the real world', for Compounding I'd be going for Chromium, since infinite luck can only be a good thing. For Twinborn I'd go with A-Pewter, since it's not just a strength increase it's an everything increase, and F-Copper because of the sheer amount of information I could store from the internet. If I was 'Isekaing' myself into Era 2 Scadrial then for Compounding I'd go for double steel, not just for infinite super-speed mind you but also because of F-steel incresing the rate of you burning metals, which might amplify my Steelpushes kind of like Duralumin. Here's a WOB for that. For 'On Scadrial' Twinborn I'd for A-Steel and F-Nicrosil, since A-Steel is just really useful for a lot of things, while F-Nicrosil would open up a lot of potential doors for additional powers if I could figure out how it worked exactly. Edit: On second thought, if I was going 'Metaless', as in not trying to game the system with Nicrosil, then I'd choose F-Steel with A-Pewter just from how much they synergize with each other. By Flaring Pewter all day everyday, you could store up far more speed in your Steelminds then you should be able to, and when you tap them your Burning rate for Pewter inceases, giving you more strength, speed and healing the more speed you tap. It just fits really well together. -
I completely forgot that as Splinters of Devotion and Dominion, they would have the ability to hear the Pure Tones. This does indeed raise the chances of the Elantrians finding out about the significance of the Rythms and potentially storing the Dorlight into gems.
-
Cosmere healing such as Stormlight and Feruchemical Gold are said to heal the soul, Biochromatic Breaths are an innate part of a Nalthian's soul, there are WOBs that say you can heal back a power taken from Hemalurgy if you had enough Investiture. My question is this: Could a Nalthian who really regretted giving away their Beath and hated being a Drab gained access to either an Unsealed Goldmind with a ton of Health stored up or became a Surgebinder, could they heal their Breath back?
-
Okay, I was going to suggest that maybe someone was Burning Copper, and that Copper could interfere with the Connection between someone and an Unsealed Metalmind. But this makes so much more sense. I'll keep this in mind.
-
What would that even sound like? Devoted and Dominating Rythms? Anyway yeah I can't really see how they'd discover Rythms, AonDor is very powerful and versatile but it doesn't quite lend itself to intuitiveness for sensory stuff. Like hearing Rythms. You have to know what you want to do and how to draw it to accomplish it which doesn't seem to lend itself to that particular goal. Maybe another Selish Art could allow a person to hear the Rythms? Maybe a Worldhopper will tell them about it, maybe they'll discover it by accident. Who knows really.
-
Place the gem directly inside of an Aon? Or dip them in Devotion's Perpendicularity. They'd have to know this is possible though, and find a reason to do it. Granted after the events of Elantris Raoden probably put together a group of Elanrians to study the heck out of AonDor so they won't get caught off guard by something like the Reod again. So odds are good that over the centuries between Elantris and The Way Of Kings that they may have figured out how to do that, they just couldn't find a good use for it.

Considering that even in the main headquarters of the Set in Bilming, no one had any Medallions whatsoever, just Hemalurgic Spikes, is a pretty clear indicator, to me at least, that the Southerners were no friends of the Set. Edit: To expand on this, what I'm saying is, the only way the Southerners could have gotten Trellium, to me at least, is if they traded with the Set, and the only thing the Set would have wanted was their technology, and we didn't see any of that in the Set's possession. So yeah I don't think they have Trellium unless Kelsier gave it to them, which he might have.

It seemed to be a little of column A and a little of column B. Telsin was supposed to become the Avatar, Trell, but Autonomy was also there pulling the strings. Remember Avatars aren't independent Splinters like Spren or Seons, they seem to be more like Shardic Handpuppets.
