Yeah but that didn't go so well, and a lot of the element of surprise is gone because she and her machinations are now known and can be anticipated. Because the Basin has just learned almost first-hand how dangerous these she and the nukes are, so they will definitely try to prevent another close call. Also most of the Set is either arrested or dead. So she'll need to make a new group again from scratch, which will likely be a pain since people are going to be on the lookout for anymore espionage. Cause it's the Cold War, that's people did back then. Plus Harmony said that the Trell-Bomb at the end might have ignited the atmosphere if it went off properly. Or something along those lines.
-
Maybe the leaders of the Southerners get manipulated by the new Trell in an attempt to start Scadrial's first World War? What would stop Trell from just making a really big Nuke in the middle of nowhere and igniting the atmosphere, because if Autonomy really wants to destroy Scadrial then nukes make that really easy. Or perhaps whatever happens in Stormlight 5 will make Autonomy decide that she needs Scadrial around more. Perhaps something to do with Odium? Because while they may have briefly worked together in the past that may not be the case now.

I'd like to discuss the best video game that's set in Tolkein's Lord of The Rings. I don't know if there is already a separate topic talking about it, but I can't find it so I'll just make one on my own. I really enjoyed SoW, it was so much more than it's previous installment. The world you played in just felt more alive, more active than in Shadow of Mordor. Plus you actually get to command your orc armies in conquering stuff. The ending made me kind of sad, though I'm not going to spoil it. Also one question that's been burning at me for a while and is the main reason I started this Topic is... (Spoilers for the ending and the DLC) Anyway I hope someone will be able to answer that and I hope to hear what you all thought about this incredible game.

I remember a WOB saying that he was trying to figure out the secrets of Feruchemy, probably to gain access to it. I also remember a WOB that said that Brandon has considered making a short novel detailing exactly what he was up to. Though he said it wasn't a priority so I wouldn't get your hopes up about it.

So we know that electrified Ettmetal + a little bit of Trellium = A bloody nuke. Do the Southerners have any Trellium to make nukes of their own? Because as far as I'm aware the Set were the only ones that had any and most of it is in the hands of the Basin now because of Wax and Wayne. But the Malwish wouldn't have any due to not interacting with the Set much if at all. Because if not that means that the Northeners have the Arms advantage, which might be what the Spy-Thriller Cold War focused plot of Era 3 could be about. A young Nicroburst Terris Geek Girl trying to stop a Southener Mistborn or whatever from stealing the Basin's stockpile of Trellium and making their own Nukes. Probably not what's going to happen at all but you never know. Could be a cool reflection of Era 1 with TFE's original plot of 'Steal the Atium'. Except the Protagonist is on the Empire's side. What do you think?

To become a Cognitive Shadow through Ascension, you need to have held either a full Shard or most of their power, like taking a dip into the Well of Ascension. As I'm pretty sure from the lack of UNLIMITED COSMIC POWER! That Telsin did not hold a significant fraction of Autonomy's power. Plus if Autonomy just casually gave up the kind of power that would let all of her Avatars dribble entire planets then she wouldn't have much left for herself. Which as a Certified Control Freak, seems quite antithesis to her preferences. So no, I don't think Telsin is coming back. Just a guess though.

I'm thinking that Bendalloy might make your body age faster than it should be. A problem for the mortally challenged. Gold would probably be pretty bad, seeing and feeling you past-self judging you for the choices you've made already seems bad enough. No idea for the enhancement metals. I'm also thinking that Zinc and Brass makes you want to manipulate others more, maybe feeling social anxiety when you aren't influencing someone's emotions? Breeze was almost definitely a Savant and did usually use Brass on most people he met, maybe because he didn't want to do otherwise?

Brandon has said that the events of Era 2 of Mistborn (Alloy of Law to The Lost Metal) all take place in a timeskip between Stormlight 5 and 6. Here's the WOB

I'd say that Divine Intervention would be just as rare as finding the Distilled Essence of a God. This seems like a similar question to 'Can you fuel Awakening with Stormlight instead of Breath?'. What you want is possible but no one onscreen in the books has figured it out yet. Also we have no idea what Burning Raysium would do so that's a 'maybe' from me.

From what I understand it seems that Aetherbound use water only when they don't have access to a specific 'Ambient Investiture Field', whatever that is. Also I'd say that a fight between a Sandmaster and a Roseite Aetherbound would be an interesting one, not too sure which would win but I'd put my money on the Aetherbound.

Perpendicularities, Investiture and Aluminum
JustQuestin2004 replied to QafianSage's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Aluminum doesn't just block Investiture from Magic Systems, it blocks investiture period. So chances are there would be no Perpendicularity, or maybe it would just be hidden.- 5 replies

This is kind of what happens when an Allomancer burns a Godmetal or Godmetal Alloy. They draw upon the inherent power within the Godmetal rather than using it as a key to access Investiture from Preservation. If someone Burns Atium then they're using Ruin's Investiture. So you'd just need access to Godmetals and you're done.

What are the Men of Gold and Red?
JustQuestin2004 replied to 2spooky4myshirt's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I'm thinking Taldain Space Marines, they just appear to have Gold and Red skin because of advanced power armor. If I remember right White Sand was over a thousand (or more) years before Elantris so they might be space age. Although this would raise the question as to why they didn't use spaceships. Maybe Autonomy forbade them as they could allow the Taldainians to escape her grasp? I dunno I'm just spitballing here. -
Well, that answers that. For me at least. Of course this still leaves the ever-present burning desire for more answers but I suppose I'll just have to be patient for Era 3.

Cosmeric Tales (Cosmere Snippets Practice Thread)
JustQuestin2004 replied to JustQuestin2004's topic in Sanderson Fan Works
I feel like I should have been more descriptive with how Tim navigates the city, maybe I'll revise it someday I'm not sure how to make a 'scadrian' sounding name. I'm writing the second chapter but it's slow going thanks to my constantly getting distracted.- 8 replies

You mean, what if Autonomy decides to offer Kelsier Godlike powers? Not as an Avatar because losing your individuality would make that a huge downside for a guy like Kelsier. Or maybe just more general support?
-
Perhaps...
-
Because she was going to kill them all if they couldn't 'Pass the Test', it might not have been voluntary on Autonomy's part, as Wayne did see that the respect was begrudging. As Ati can attest to, a Vessel can have their decisions and personality heavily altered by their Shard should they not be inclined to it's intent, and Autonomy Bavadin seems like a bit of a control freak, so maybe the Shard itself decided 'Damn these guys are really cool by deciding their own fates and stuff, welp no need for me to be here'.

So how many magic systems does roshar have?
JustQuestin2004 replied to Rg2045's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Oh yeah that's right, Natural Nahel Bonds, not just Investiture. My bad. I'm pretty sure Cultivation doesn't actually have her own form of Surgebinding and just shares regular Surgebinding with Honor. Also what do you define as a 'Magic System'?- 29 replies

Actually it's referring to how Sazed isn't quite as in Harmony as he likes to believe due to the imbalance of power of the polarized Shards he holds. The Shard of Ruin is slightly stronger than the Shard of Preservation, which is leading to Sazed having trouble with his nature as 'Harmony' which is reliant on keeping the Shards in balance, when he eventually fails his Intent and name will shift to Discord to show how the Shards in him are no longer in any kind of balance and very bad things will start to happen.

So how many magic systems does roshar have?
JustQuestin2004 replied to Rg2045's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Yeah Roshar sure is something special, anyway I'll give my opinion on what exactly counts as a 'Magic System' on Roshar, feel free to disagree. What I Think Isn't A Magic System The Fabrials aren't so much a magic system as they are taking advantage of the nature of Roshar. It's like humans on Earth taking advantage of natural phenomena for our own benefit, such as Hydroelectric dams using the motion generated by flowing rivers to make electricity, this isn't supernatural it's just the result of science making use of nature's process's. Same thing with Fabrial's, taking advantage of natural things (Spren) for science (Fabrials). Not really a Magic System, just science. The 'Magic Fish' from Purelake are things we don't know much about, so we couldn't definitively say whether that counts due to a lack of information. Same with the 'Dancing Magic' in Shinovar. The Larkin's 'Investivore' abilities (their ability to feed on Investiture) and the Greatshells abnormal size is due to natural creatures adapting to a highly Invested environment. Like how plants and creatures in our world adapt to new environments to help with survival. Not quite magic, just nature being assisted by Investiture. The Old Magic is very weird, I'd personally say that it's more like Divine Intervention from the Nightwatcher and occasionally Cultivation. It doesn't seem to have any 'rules' that most 'Brandon' Magic Systems have and the Nightwatcher and Cultivation are the only one's who use it. This appear to be Cultivation's 'Magic System'. The Unmade are Spren that have been heavily altered and corrupted by Odium for his own purposes, like Old Magic this is more like Divine Intervention than any kind of Magic System. What I Think Is A Magic System The Knights Radiants use Surgebinding, which despite it's many varying abilities and Orders, is all just parts of Surgebinding. To say otherwise would be like calling each Allomantic ability it's own magic system, which isn't very accurate. Each of the Bondsmith's abilities, despite how ridiculously OP they are, all fall under the umbrella of Surgebinding. Voidbinding is Odium's variation of Surgebinding for his Fused to use, it lacks the Surge of Adhesion and has some small differences in how it functions like how each of the 9 Fused Brands (their version of Orders) can only use a single Surge. The Singer's ability to assume different Forms via forming a Bond with certain types of Spren and stepping into a Storm seems too intricate to me to be just a natural phenomenon caused by natural adaptions to Investiture. I believe that this counts as a Magic System. And that's all. As far as I'm concerned Roshar has 3 'Magic Systems' with everything else being made possible by Roshar's special nature. It's all very subjective so do take this with a grain of salt.- 29 replies

It's alright, people tend to mix up Tension with Cohesion, whether you're a poster on a forum or an ancient remnant of a very powerful and very dead deity. Cough*Stormfather*Cough.

I feel like the 'talking to stone' thing is exclusive to Singers with access to Cohesion. But maybe the Shin's weird obsession with stones maybe might lend some credence to the opposite. I'd think that increasing something's durability would fall under Tension's purview rather than Cohesion. Interesting conclusion though. Oh yeah, unless you surround them with aluminum, drain them of Investiture or invest the ground somehow then you really can't stop someone with Cohesion from going wherever they please. It'd be really useful for escaping unwinnable fights, exploring dangerous places and sneaking around where you aren't wanted.

I'd say that Marsh does know quite a few tricks about Allomancy, my guess is that he can 'lightly Burn' Duralumin to grant greater power over longer periods. Like instead of compressing an hour's worth of Steel into huge burst that lasts 2 seconds, he can draw it out to 60 seconds, greatly amplifying the power but not to the same degree. Like you can 'Lightly Burn' Steel just to see the Steellines or lightly Burn pewter for small physical boost. I don't think this is a Savant thing, though it could be, just a showing of raw skill honed over centuries of life.
