  1. Interesting, do you think i'd be possible to put so many Breaths into a cloak (or any Type 3 Invested Entity? Or was it Type 4? I dunno) that it gains sentience? Like with Nightbood? And Nightblood only needed 1000 Breaths, though they did gain more Investiture over time so maybe that isn't the best comparison. I was thinking of someone doing this to wield more than 2 Shardblades, or perhaps Honorblades, at once and completely decimating anyone in their way.
  2. So the 'Breath Cost' of an Awakening depends on both the 'Liveliness' of an object and the complexity of the Command? So do you think it would be feasible to Awaken a Mistcloak and Command it to act a pair of separate arms? Perhaps pull a General Grevious and quadruple wield swords?
  3. Can you place more Breaths in an Awakened Object then you need to? Like if you have 1,000 Breaths and try to Awaken a cloak that would only need 200 Breaths, could you instead choose to Awaken it with 500 Breaths? And would this have any benefits, like the object might be able to handle slightly more complex Commands or something?
  4. Hmmm... I'll keep reading, if I find something I'll point it out. But now I'm lean towards 'Probaby yes' on the 'Surges affect ground in Shadesmar' question.
  5. I just read Rythm of War, so a few Lightweavers mined some obsidian from the ground in Shadesmar then Soulcasted it into food. So I guess the ground in Shadesmar isn't that Invested? At least not to the point that it couldn't be unaffected by Surges.
  6. I know that there are mountains in the Cognitive Realm, though they're smaller than they would normally be. My question is are there caves in the Cognitive Realm? I ask this because Ruin's perpendicularity was, supposedly, at the bottom of the Pits of Hathsin, so would it also be in a cave in the Cognitive Realm or would it just be on the surface?
  7. Imagine giant Glow-In-Dark Spider-Centipede hybrid looking things that could eat a man whole. Absolutely terrifying. Plus above the treeline, people would eat plants called 'Float-Leaves', which would make them near weightless, then mount giant flying domesticated bugs to fly around on.
  8. I forgot that part. Cool, now when I write my story, when my MC gets his Blade, he can do the Badass thing without breaking Canon. Thanks.
  9. Hypothetical scenario: You're a Radiant of whatever Oath you need to be to have a Shardblade, you fighting someone who is better than you with a Shardblade, so you decide to pull a trick. When you and your opponent lock blades, you dismiss your Shardblade then hold your hand near your opponent's chest then summon your Shardblade, thus summoning it through their spine and killing them instantly. Would the last bit, the 'Summoning a Blade into your enemy' part, work? Because that would be pretty badass but I'm not sure if it can be done.
  10. It showed that it's possible to invert Investiture to create Anti-Investiture, if this also inverted the Investiture's Intent then it might open the door to creating truly Neutral Investiture, unbound and untainted by any Shard's Intent. Then you'd just have to apply this to an entire Shard, then Connect yourself to it and then you're now a Shard with all the power without any of the downsides. Of course this is all purely speculative, with the difficulty of this endeavor likely requiring the coordinated assistance of multiple experienced Shards and a genius that makes Navani look like a pre-school toddler.
  11. Yeah, the big plants need less water than they should due to Investiture, though they do still need a decent amount of it. To the point that they'd get noticabely smaller the further away they are from rivers. I want more than just humans to use them, so I'll probably go with 'eat plants' thing. The normal 7 plants give you a minor ability that is always on until the plant is completely digested. You don't have much control over the ability, like if you eat the 'Glow-Root' plant, you'll start glowing for until it's digested. Then there will be the Corrupted versions, which give stronger and deadlier versions of those powers, though they come with consequences to use. Thanks for replying.
  12. Hello! And welcome to my flailings as a novice writer, I'm trying to create an original world to place into the Cosmere as a side-story to a fanfiction I'm making. I would greatly appreciate some aid in the endeavor. I'm not entirely sure about the title just yet but it will be part of my 'Cosmeric Tales' fanfic series that I will one day post on Spacebattles, because that's where I've posted stories before and I hope to attract some attention to the Cosmere with a few decent stories. Anyway so this side-story will be taking place on a world called Vathen, it's a world designed by Adonalsium much like Roshar, but was never touched by a Shard until very recently. A conflict between 2 Shards that led to one of them pulling a Preservation and tearing a large chunk of Investiture from the other and hiding it away, on a world that hardly anyone has ever paid attention to. The Shard that visited this world also left behind a powerful Splinter, akin to the Godspren like the Stormfather, to watch over the Chunk hidden away. While the Splinter's creator left to go back to their original world. This happened decades before the story starts, with the Chunk starting to corrupt the local Magic System and cause problems. But anyway I'd like some assistance in actually making some worldbuilding, I have some ideas of my own. I want the Magic System to be based around plants. I want the Destiny number of Vathen to be 7 (like Scadrial's 16). I want the world to be covered in Flora, with giant trees and humongous bugs being the main environmental features that make this world unique. I want the end of the story to have a new and stable Perpendicularity form, connecting Vathen to the greater Cosmere. I want some societies to live high in tree-cities and I want some to live below around 'Giant Bug repelling Mushrooms'. There will be humans, maybe a new sentient species like the Singers but who knows. I want a human society to be near-modern so I can make an 'Urban Fantasy' kind of story though I'm no longer as certain. Maybe a sequel will have the main characters dealing with one of Autonomy's Avatars? And this all will take place between the end of the Original Mistborn Trilogy and the beginning of the Stormlight Archives. And If you're wondering about the Shards I'd mentioned earlier, it will spoil things from the main story I'm working on so I'll put it in a spoiler. So yeah that's all I've got so far, with about half of that made up as I was writing this. Huh, I guess worldbuilding's easier than I thought. Any thoughts? Edit; Okay, I'm gonna try to sort these ideas out into boxes for simplicities sake. I'll add more as I think of it. Vathen's Ecology Vathen's Magic Vathen's Societies The actual story
  13. It is said that she can't use Stormlight, only Lifelight. So I was thinking that she might have been tweaked by Cultivation to only use Lifelight but your theory makes more sense. Oh that is very nice to know, thank you for answering. I'd say that Gemstones can't take in Mist due to the fact that I'd find it hard to believe that no one ever brought jewelry out into the Mists even once in a thousand years. Although maybe they did, but since no one could do anything with it they just dismissed it as 'A weird Mist thing'. Also I like to call Preservation's Light 'Mistlight' (Creative I know) and Ruin's Light 'Ashlight'. I'd also imagine that if a Surgebinder could breathe in these Lights that Mistlight make make you feel less inclined to move or act, like the opposite of Stormlight, and Ashlight would be kinda like the Thrill. Just thought I'd say that. Interesting, I thought that the Stormfather said that no Bondsmith had done it before, though that might just be me misreading. So I'd suppose that Navani's Perpendicularity might create large quantites of Towerlight.
  14. In Oathbringer, Dalinar opened Honor's Perpendicularity and all of the Gemstones and Radiants near him were super-charged with Stormlight. My question is: could this happen with all Perpendicularities? Could Lift potentially gain power from Cultivation's Perpendicularity?
  15. Then what other little tricks could be done? Perhaps only summoning part of the Shardplate? Like summoning just the gauntlets instead of the whole suit?
  16. So a Singer would need to take a bath in one to make it work. I'm pretty sure that you could only do this if Preservation/Harmony wanted you to do this, it doesn't seem that just anyone can draw upon the Mists for anything. I'm now wondering if a Singer could fuel the transformation by gaining a ton of Breath and using that to change Forms when they want, would probably be a huge waste of Breath but a free quick-change to another Form might save a Singers life.
  17. Not quite, I don't mean that using a Full Lashing on yourself while storing weight would lose less Stormlight, I mean you could use a Quarter Lashing to move around while storing weight, which would use less Stormlight than a Full Lashing.
  18. Saving people along with being compassionate to those who most would deem 'insignificant', a good combo of oaths that fit pretty well together. Seems that there is a pattern forming.
  19. Though there is some overlap with Adhesion. Although that might just mean there'll be some kind of triple Resonance. Then again Bondsmith alone is OP enough, anything else is just icing on the cake.
  20. I was thinking of falling ash, but either way that's an egg on my face. Ok, I'm starting to understand just how weird the Cognitive Realm truly is. So thanks for that.
  21. So hypothetical question, let's say you have the stupidly rare opportunity to Bond with any 2 Spren of your choosing, which of the 10 Orders would you simultaneously join? You have to uphold the Oaths from both Orders you choose. I'd choose Willshaper and Windrunner, simply because their oaths would match up pretty well, with saving people and freeing people being the core elements. Plus the powers would be awesome when used together. Any thoughts?
  22. Ah that makes sense, so no hypothetical distilling of Lerasium from the Cogniive Realm for this guy. You could say that the Mists are lie! Edit; But wait if the Mists are just part of the CR's Identity then what about the ash? It's everywhere in the PR at daytime and yet there isn't a single bit of it in the CR? I'm a little confused.
  23. Yeah, it'd also be more efficient by using less Stormlight for the same result. Like Storing 80% of your weight then flying around with a Quarter-Lashing for a few hours. It wouldn't be anywhere near as efficient as the flying Fused who can just float forever, but it'd be a close second.
  24. The Cognitive Realm of Scadrial is, like it's physical counterpart during nighttime, absolutely covered in Mists, which shapes itself to reflect the Physical Realm. My question is, are the MIsts in the Cognitive Realm the same as the ones from the Physical Realm? Are they the gaseous form of Preservation's Investiture or is this just a quirk of the Cognitive Realm?
  25. So far all we've seen of how to contain the Unmade is through trapping them in Perfect Gemstones, but these Gemstones are quite rare so I'd like to discuss any potential alternatives toward containing these Malignant Super-Spren. One idea I have is locking them into an Aluminum box, baiting them into one would be difficult but not undoable. Another idea would be Binding them to either a particular location or perhaps to a person, this would likely require an experienced Bondsmith. Any other suggestions?
