  1. That makes sense, the Bonds would be separate things, only interacting via their effects on the person and not each other.
  2. Ah, you mean making a more believable lie. Making an life story, all on a single stamp. Yeah that would make sense. Forgery is all about making a lie real-ish.
  3. I'd say that this is certainly a very 'far out' idea, but it also makes a bit of sense so I'd say it has potential. As for applications... A-Chromium: Making a 'Leech Bullet' would be an incredibly useful advantage in a fight. F-Iron: since you could reduce your own weight without having a bunch of metal on you, weighing you down. A-Cadmium: Creating a Slow Bubble around someone else is always extremely useful in a fight.
  4. Like 'Atomically Perfect' good Essence Mark?
  5. Weren't the Ire only at Scadrial because they knew Preservation was dying and wanted to claim the power of a Shard for themselves? I don't think that they were studying the Metallic Arts, though I could be wrong, it's been a while since I read Secret History.
  6. Easy solution, just dry your hands and put it in a fridge. Then you'll have a Godmetalmind that you can only use with extreme caution or it'll take your whole hand off.
  7. So will Susebron give Siri 2,000 Breaths so that she doesn't die from old age? Because it is possible to give only a few Breaths instead of all of them at once, and Susebron does love Siri a lot, so I feel like we'll be seeing them in later Cosmere books. Any thoughts?
  8. So the rules are that anyone can Burn a Godmetal, the Atium from Era 1 was apparently a Electrum Alloy so it doesn't count, so would that mean that anyone could store into one? Like an Unsealed Metalmind? I think that you need to know it was possible before you could do it, like with the Medallions. Any thoughts?
  9. So the Honorblade's whole thing is that they can grant anyone access to Surgebinding at the drawback of not being as efficient with Stormlight as the Nahel Bond, so my question is this: If a Surgebinder held an Honorblade with entirely different Surges, like a Windrunner with the Lightweaver blade, would the presence of the Nahel Bond get rid of the inefficiency problem?
  10. So it's been said before that using Forgery to do things like 'turn someone into a Misting' would take a LOT of Investiture, more than a typical Forger would have. And based on what I know Forgery isn't like AonDor where you could string a bunch of Aon Rao's together to boost the results, so what's a Forger to do to get the Investiture needed for such a thing? Breath, becoming an Elantrian somehow, stacking more Forgery-ness with Hemalurgy?
  11. So what exactly was the worldhopping trading network like on Scadrial? Back before Kelsier destroyed the pits? Like what would they have traded, who did the trading, how did they do it, how often did they do it. how many people were aware of it (besides the Lord Ruler), was there some kind of base or market next to the Perpendicularity in the Cognitive Realm? General questions like that. Feel free to just speculate.
  12. Ah, so you'd need to hunt Chasmfiends and other such things to get a supply of Perfect Gemstones. You can't just make them, at least not easily. Cool.
  13. I actually have a Sequel ideafor this story, it takes place in what I call Era 1.5, around the time that the Lord Mistborn up and leaves, making it a time of great change and some instability. The story will follow a Terris, as they go on an adventure thoughout the new Scadrial, which is far different from the one in the books. Here are some of the changes from canon: -The Northern and Southern Continents are shattered into many, many islands of differing sizes. -Society is starting to get the ball rolling on the Industrial Revolution, not where it would be in Era 2, but it's a start. -PIRATES!!! No joke. -Allomancy is still reduced to just Mistings, no Mistborn. But there are still Full Feruchemists around, they're just really rare. -The Set's predecessors will be one of the antagonists. -Discord will be looking for someone who can Unify the Shards he holds to become Harmony. -There is a new Godmetal, Discordium, which is very unstable and dangerous, it has an extremely low melting point and can become gas at room temperature. It's gas is toxic to most people, and it grows randomly throughout Scadrial. -There is a new Magic System, a fourth Metallic Art. And that's mostly all I've got for it so far.
  14. Unfortunately, you and your friend needed some convincing to help Adrien out big time. And he couldn't think of anything else more valuable than Atium. Thanks, I've worked pretty hard on this.
  15. So I'll be posting the story proper on Spacebattles, to hopefully introduce more people to the Cosmere, but I'll be posting the outline I have for it here for people to give feedback on. The title of my story is Cosmeric Tales: Mist and Ash It will be a Self-Insert-Original-Character, which means it'll be about an OC from 'The Real World', I'll work on this as I'm reading through the Stormlight Archives. But I probably won't actually post it until after The Lost Metal comes out. There are 4 parts to this story: The Pre-canon, The Final Empire, The Well of Ascension and The Hero of Ages The story will follow Adrien (The OC) and his Lightspren partner, Shiner as they venture into Scadrial and try not to mess everything up. Adrien will be a Willshaper and will be able to fuel his Surgebinding from breathing in the Mists, which he will also dub 'Mistlight'. During the event of the story Adrien will be attempting to helpin what ways he can by evacuating Skaa into the Cognitive Realm and sending them elsehwhere by bribing Krhiss and Nazh with Atium, Adrien will also try to save more of the Terris people from the Steel Inquisitor's attack, being ganged up on by several of them. He will also reveal a few secrets of the Metallic Arts to the Crew such as Unkeyed Metalminds. His interference will also save Tinwyl's life. He will also go halfsies with a bead of Lerasium with Hoid, so he will be a powerful Allomancer. However not everything will be perfect such as the Crew coming to distrust him due to him constantly keeping important secrets from them, which he can't tell them due to Adrien being afraid throughout the entire story of Ruin listening, which also means that Adrien won't be taking too overt actions to change the plot due to fear of having Ruin win by butterfly effect. This will come to a head when during the Well of Ascension Vin confronts Adrien about if he let Kelsier die, which he will feel as though he did and his relations with the crew will be put through hell. Plus Ruin will be trying to turn him into his 'Knight of Decay' and going sofar as to infuse some of the ash and make it become 'Ashlight' which Ruin will use to try to gain influence over Adrien. Also during the Well of Ascension Sazed will die, leaving Adrien feeling hate for himself as he knows that Sazed would be the key to saving the world and losing a dear friend, with him knowing that it was ultimately his fault due to him interfereing. He will also nearly break his oaths and kill Shiner. At the end of Hero of Ages both Vin and Ruin are dead but there would be no one capable of taking both the powers, which is necessary to save the world and Adrien knows that he wouldn't be able to take them both up, not as he is. But he comes up with an absolutely insane plan that he has no idea would work. He has a bag of Atium that he was saving, he also has Duralumin. He can draw Mistlight and Ashlight from both of the Vessel-less Shards. And he is aware of Surges having Spiritual applications. So he goes all in, he breathes in as much Investiture from the Shards as he can, his body almost vaporizing from the amount and he burn Duralumin and Atium together, peering into the Spiritual Realm, which will let him see what he will need to do. The he'll focus the massive amount of Light to use the Surge of Cohesion to Mold his own Spiritweb, his own Identity and Connections into being a better vessel for both of the Shards, the process will be similar to Forgery. It will work, sort of, and he will Ascend with both Preservation and Ruin, along with burning Sazed's Copperminds, which were turned Unkeyed by Sazed before his death so that his knowledge wouldn't die with him. Adrien had the knowledge and power to save the world. But something isn't quite right, he holds the powers but he can't bring them into Harmony, instead as he tries to fix the world the powers become Discord, paritally Splintering and almost killing Adrien, and while he does fix the world it isn't perfect as both the Southern and Northern continents crack into many islands and he loses control of a new Godmetal, Discordium, which will evaporate at room temperature into a toxic mist that will kill most people who breathe it in. It grows quite commonly in random locations around Scadrial making a new ecological threat. And Adrien, now Discord can feel the gaze of other Shards. But the world was saved, Spook became the Lord Mistborn and life, while not as easy as it would have been in canon, still thrives. And slowly, a new power forms on Scadrial, a fourth Metallic Art. And all the while Discord makes preparations to look for someone to become Harmony. I have a lot more planned, like the actual details and such, but it's late and I'm tired of typing so much. So what do you think?
  16. Can Spren use Surges? I don't really know myself. I suppose that it all comes down to whether Gemstones truly do mess up Surges or not. There would be a way though, otherwise how could there be that many Perfect Gemstones? It's not like they form naturally right? Do they?
  17. I know about that, I'm just not really sure how that relates to this? It does leave the ever burning question as to what Pure Atium does. I'm hoping that the Lost Metal will answer it. Oh! Do you mean if a Worldhopper somewhere got their hands on Atium and somehow distilled it into Pure Atium? Which would be burnable by everyone and thus have stupendous amounts of value to anyone anywhere?
  18. I'd argue the opposite. The Final Empire's process of acquiring Atium goes as follows: 1-Skaa slaves harvest geodes from the Pits of Hathsin 2-The geodes go to certain Obligators for 'Refinement' 3-The 'Refined' Atium is hidden within a bunch of other metals as it is transported via boats to the Cache 4-Less than a tenth or so is sold to Noble Houses At least that's how I remember it. And I do recall that the Lord Ruler knew of the Worldhopping trades but didn't do anything about it. And most of house Venture (the nobles in chare of the pits) didn't know about the Atium. And I don't think that they were in any position to trade more than a pittance of Atium as most of it was stored away. So I believe that Atium would be a rarity throughout the Worldhopping community and that it would be incredibly valuable due to being a Godmetal. Which probably have more uses than just in the Metallic Arts.
  19. I have a crazy, radical idea that probably wouldn't actually work the way I think it would: What if Spiritual Cohesion could be used on yourself? Like with Forgery you could alter your own Identity and Connection, what you could do with this would probably be limited and I don't think that you could use this to become a Mistborn but what if you could use this to make yourself into a better Vessel for a Shard? Like if you were to try to pick up the Preservation Shard, but you are a rather destructive person, you could use Spiritual Cohesion on yourself to change yourself into someone who was better fitting for holding the Shard? Like I said this probably wouldn't work but I'm spit balling a crazy idea.
  20. The powers granted by Metalbound would depend on the metal they are made of, and also whether they want to grant them to you or not. The basic overview is that a Metalbound would allow you to make temporary Connections with other willing people, allowing you to share certain things with them depending on the Metal. The Connections would fade after a time depending on your own Connection with them requiring you to set it up again, and it must be willing. They also have to be within a few miles of you. The main limit of Metalbinding is that you need allies to use it and there are limits as to how much you can share. Tin would be the most obvious, it would allow you to share senses with people you are Connected to. Seeing what they're seeing, hearing what they're hearing and doing the reverse with letting them see what you see. Nicrosil would probably share Innate Investiture, which would have a use even without Metalborn. But with Metalborn you could share powers. Though I don't want Metalbinding to be 1-to-1 with Feruchemy so there would be differences. Like maybe Zinc or Brass could share emotions. I'll need to think on this but it is all coming together.
  21. Random ideas are better than no ideas at all. Sharing Investiture? Now that is certainly an angle to work with. A core theme of Metalbinding would be community? We all lift together or something? So with Metalbinding, when enough people have a Connection with a particular object (like a family heirloom or a national treasure or whatever), enough to give it it's own Identity, a Scadrian Spren would bond with this object's spiritual self and make it a sentient object, also known as a Metalbound, sort of like Nightblood but without the whole 'Destroy Evil' thing. The abilities would require multiple people in order to work and only a single person could wield the Metalbound at a time. Also making an object have it's own Identity wouldn't be something that could just happen in a day, it would need nearly a lifetime to develop. An example would be like if a Noble House had a sword made of pure iron, that sword was passed down for generations and was given a name of it's own, and over time that sword's Identity would slightly change, instead of just 'I am a Sword' it would be 'I am a Sword called (Insert Name)', then a Scadrian Spren would see this sword in the Cognitive Realm, which would be easy because metal glows in Scadrial's CR, and sensing the unique Identity and the number of deeper than usual Connections it has, it would bond with the psuedo-soul of the sword and form a true soul, granting the sword sentience and an ability corresponding with Metalbinding Iron. The personality of the Metalbound would depend on 2 things, the object's personal history and the type of Spren that Bonds with it. Like certain Spren are Splinter of just Ruin or Preservation and they would be the majority, Ruinspren would influence the personality of the Metalbound to make it want to destroy things and go on the offensive, Preservationspren would make the Metalbound act more Defensively. And then there would be the rarer 2, the Discordspren and the Harmonyspren, the Discordspren would be as erratic as they are rare, generally acting like Wildcards at the best of times while Harmonyspren would encourage peace and stuff. Man this has been some good stuff. Thanks.
  22. Maybe, I do want Metalbinding to have similar principles but I also want it to be distinct from either Surgebinding and the Metallic Arts. I'm starting to think that maybe Metalbinding should work like the Aviar Bond, where the person themselves doesn't actually have any innate powers of their own but they can benefit from the thing that actually has powers, which in this case would be the Metalbound, which is what I'd call the 'Spren' when they're bonded to metal. And the powers, still not sure. Maybe Pewterbound become tougher?
  23. So an interesting question I have would be whether any Atium made it off of Scadrial, would Krhiss have her own small stockpile of it? And how valuable do you think it would be to Worldhoppers anyway?
  24. Hey there, so I've recently had an idea that I'd like a bit of help fleshing out. So this idea sort of came to me while I was thinking about a certain section in a Mistborn Era 2 newspaper, the one with 'K and N', who are probably Krhiss and Nazh, asking people to come to them if they hear their metal tools start to talk to them (Which all on it's own is interesting to wonder about but I digress) and I was also thinking of a fanfiction idea where a new magic system occurs on Scadrial. So the idea is that during the Catacendre things go a little wrong and bit of Ruin and Preservation are torn and became Splinters, like Spren (Though I don't know if I should call them that or not) these Splinters then attempt to mimic the Nahel Bond but due to Scadrial's Affinity for Metal they need to use one of the 16 Metals as a middleman. And the metal they Bond to must have some kind of Connection to the one they wish to bond with , so they can't just Bond with a piece of scrap metal, more like some kind of family heirloom or something of great significance to the 'Bonded' which is also Allomantically viabe. They can't Bond with a Metalmind or a Hemalurgic Spike due to them being Invested. Which would mess up the Bond. There will be 16 types of Splinters which for the sake of simplicity I''m just going to call Spren, there would be one for each of the metals like Steelspren, Pewterspren and so on, I don't know exactly what powers the person would get from this Bond or if it's be more like an Aviar Bond. But I wouldn't want them to be anymore powerful then what is shown by the Metallic Art, Compounding not included. Any thoughts? I'd love to hear some.
