  1. Sounds like a very reasonable idea to me. I also have found, at least for myself, that when I have an idea on the forums with someone that I will state my opinion, give proof for my reasoning, and then be open to others' opinions and their reasoning. If their proof is sufficient, I change my previous standing to fit the evidence. If not, I politely disagree and try to show them how I see things, and if that does not work, I simply let it go since it doesn't make me feel any better when I argue. Sometimes, it can be really hard though, because I'm human.
  2. I absolutely loved the Russel M. Nelson's talk. He said that even when we disagree with someone, we must be civil and polite. Contention only distances us from the Savior, and it has no room in his church. I actually have seen that others having a difference in opinion can be a good thing if taken correctly; There have been people who have challenged my beliefs, and it was difficult for me for a time. However, instead of immediately doubting my beliefs, I instead decided to research the church's doctrine more deeply. Because of this, I was blessed to learn more doctrine than I had previously and I was able to the knowledge that I already had. Honestly, people challenging what you believe can be a blessing in disguise if you respond in a good way.
  3. I think that the regular Hemalurgic metals can be used to take powers from all over the Cosmere. You just need to experiment with which metal corresponds to which power in different Invested systems. It would be interesting to see if this isn't the case and if Atium really is needed to take powers that aren't from Scadrial though.
  4. True. The Ars Arcanum says about as much; he's favoring Preservation. Which is especially weird, seeing as how Sazed possesses more Ruin, causing the incongruency of the two Shards to be inflamed even more.
  5. I like this theory! It feels very logical, and makes a lot of sense. And yeah, the Intent of the Shard I'm certain is one of the big factors of some of the God metal's properties, such as why Tanavastium is so tough. Yup, I'm pretty sure the reason Harmonium is so reactive is because of Sazed's difficulty in using both Shards together well. Makes me wonder what would happen if he learned to control them better, or if he tried to favor one Shard over the other?
  6. Heh, same here. But of course, that doesn't necessarily mean that the Cosmere will end the way the IRL universe will.
  7. I suggested that one use Hemalurgy or Unsealed Metalminds to do so, actually.
  8. Lol (still laughing my head off), best explanation I've ever witnessed
  9. Fascinating! I think that @alder24 had a pretty good take on it; Sanderson's magics are about limitations, so perhaps by utilizing a resonance between A-chromium and F-nicrosil you could take others' Kinetic Investiture, but not Innate Investiture, as that would quickly become imbalanced. It may be worth noting that you'd likely still need access to the ability to use the power before you could utilize the stolen Investiture; Unsealed Metalminds use this mechanic as well, so I'm not sure that a Sapper Twinborn would actually be too powerful, except that maybe they could Invest a Metalmind when they drain someone's Investiture rather than "wasing" it. The thing I'm most interested in is the ability to store retrievable Allomantic power inside a Metalmind if this method proves to be possible, as you might be able to use this to control the rate of taping it similar to Feruchemy (after all, Compounding basically does this, only it still uses Feruchemical attributes rather than Allomantic power.)
  10. Lol, my dad is the bishop of my ward too I really Elder Allen Haynie's talk for the first session. It really stood out to me when said that we can always trust in the Lord's prophets and their revelations. I had actually been questioning this before I had heard this; the prophet is human too, and will therefore make mistakes just like the rest of us. However, Elder Haynie reminded me that Heavenly Father chose the prophet to receive revelation for all of us, all of the world even. I should listen to and trust him in all things, because Heavenly Father uplifts him to fulfill his calling, just as he does to all of us as we seek to fulfill and magnify our callings.
  11. I like it! I think that your reasoning behind the Radiant Connecting different parts of their Spren has a descent amount of merit to it, and I like think that the concept of the Vorin essences being integrated into the whole deal makes a lot of sense too, as the perception of the Vorin culture would have shaped the Spren over time. Overall, I think it's very good, though as with all theories I think we'd need to see more concrete examples in-world before I'd settle on its truth for good. Nice job!
  12. I think that it is a reasonable assumption. After all, Preservation's Mists couldn't enter very far into most buildings, and Spheres don't charge with Stormlight unless they are outside.
  13. What about Elantrian's ability to teleport with Aon Tia? I thought that it was basically the ability to enter the SR at one point and exit back to the PR in another, which would mean that you would have to be able to enter the SR completely. Perhaps you get "converted" entirely into Investiture, then changed back as you return to the physical realm. And...TLM spoilers
  14. I recently made another thread on how one might be able to use specific Rhythms of Invested powers to program the Investiture and make that power usable for things like Feruchemy (although TLM shows Unkeyed Dor, which works just fine for any Invested power, so this strategy of programming isn't all that useful). However, I now wonder if it would be possible to take a Hemalurgic spike powered by non-Metalborn and use a combination of Rhythms emitted by Invested powers and Intent to program the spike to have the power you want. My thinking of how someone would go about creating Hemalurgic power spikes from non-Metalborn currently looks something like this. 1. Use Hemalurgy to take an Invested charge from a person. A. Make sure to either give the donor access to F-aluminum (via Hemalurgy or Unsealed Metalmind) to blank their Identity while you harvest their Innate Investiture (so that it can be combined with other donor's Investiture; Identity contamination is a real thorn in the side if not handled properly) or give the donor access to F-gold (with lots of stores saved ahead of time) to replace lost Spiritweb fragments. Identity-blanked Spiritweb fragments may also be more susceptible to being programmed (as a Feruchemist blanking Identity is susceptible to "all kinds of things"), so even if you provide them with F-gold you may also want to give them F-aluminum anyway. B. Also, make sure the spike is made of the right kind of metal to properly channel the Investiture (i.e., if you plan to program it with A-pewter, use a steel spike for physical Allomancy), otherwise you'll end up with the same kind of situation if you alloyed an Invested Metalmind into another type of metal (Investiture is there, but can't be accessed). 2. After sufficiently charging the spike, use Navani's method of changing an Investiture's Tone but instead learn and use the Rhythm (the pulse that A-bronze can sense) of the Invested power you want the spike to have. A. Might have to be a very skilled Seeker to achieve the necessary insight. It might also help to travel to Roshar and Hemalurgically take Connection from a Singer, but that may not be strictly necessary. 3. Now that the spike has been charged and exposed (with Intent) to the Rhythm of the power you desire, it should change its function to grant the power you want.
  15. To be fair, most of the ideas I have would be "weird". So this would be normal by comparison
  16. I suppose that makes sense. I wonder if Copperclouds would be more effective though. You don't need to perceive anything, as you do with bronze, but you'd still be effectively burning through your metals faster. Plus, it's also a CR effect, similar to Emotional Allomancy.
  17. I actually meant that you'd change where the spikes had been originally placed, not that you'd change where the Bindpoints themselves were. Alright, that's a fair conclusion. I'd kind of like to see someone try this on screen though, or at least be able to ask Brandon about it. Then we'd know for certain how it would work, because I think it would be pretty neat to find a way to add Hemalurgic attributes to a human without turning them into an absolute monster.
  18. Alright, fair enough. Nice
  19. We know that if you use Emotional Allomancy while you are inside a Speedbubble on someone who is outside that Speedbubble that more effect (raw Investiture, though not subtlety) is brought into play against them. So, what about other forms of Allomancy? I bet that A-bronze and A-copper would be effected; you're burning more metal over a comparatively smaller amount of time (at least while you are targeting something outside of the Speedbubble). You might be able to use very powerful Seeking while without Hemalurgy, Lerasium, Nicrosil compounding, or enahncement metals. Copperclouds would be cool to see used in this manner as well. Steelpushing and Ironpulliing would be interesting as well, though you would have to be careful not to push yourself out from the bubble as you power-push on things around you. Plus, A-pewter might be necessary to prevent self-harm. A-electrum might have some interesting properties. I guess that it would depend on how Speedbubbles effect Electrum Shadows and whether you get to see further into the future or not.
  20. Rock seems to have done so. Dawnshard spoilers (is it necessary to put it in a spoiler box? Better safe than sorry). Oooof. I had only applied that to Radiant Spren before, but yeah, lesser Spren would likely have an issue Bonding a Gemhearted human Hemalurgist as well.
  21. Yup. Which falls in line pretty well with Hemalurgic spikes still providing some boosts, even if their primary physical-warping shenanigans get suppressed. I wonder actually if this is similar to what Kandra do; their spikes would warp them, but since they can change their physical aspect as they like they suppress those warpings.
  22. Spren who manifest in Shadesmar more fully would likely be much easier to find Bindpoints on (if you travel their to spike them). Windspren specifically would be difficult though, as they aren't very big, they move quickly, and they don't manifest in the CR very much. Interesting. I bet that you could use Anti-Tones to compress and hold Hemalurgic charges inside Hemalurgic Spikes better as well (to help keep them from decaying). Maybe "inject" a Spren with no Identity directly inside another one with a Raysium dagger? I think that might work, as it would be similar to combinging Hemalurgic charges from multiple people.
  23. Hmmmm. Might be another way to experiment with Hemalurgic Bindpoints using fewer individuals. I mean "Kandra Blessings" as in the spikes grant a magical boost to the recipient, not that they were necessarily created for a Kandra (sorry, I was being a bit confusing before). Might be interesting to stamp the spikes as well though. I don't know why I hadn't considered it before, actually. It's worth mentioning that Denth also has inhuman speed that we see on screen, but he doesn't partially change when he does so (when he shows off for the slumlord by defending himself from of their minions).
  24. I was thinking of spiking them before catching them in a Gemstone. Honestly... you probably would have something akin to a Deadeye, so trying this strategy with a Radiant Spren would be a bad idea.
  25. I think that Raysium would be useful in this regard, as you could cram more than one in a larger Gemstone. I think that you'd also have to find a way to strip them of their Identity, otherwise they would remain separate. Maybe if you Hemalurgically excised their Identity with duralumin? They'd be less Invested individually, but together maybe you could get it to work.
