I think that much of WoK was a bit slow, but I personally enjoyed the rest of SA I think that Radiant healing is a bit too powerful as well; reading the Wax and Wayne series was actually more entertaining than the first Mistborn trilogy for me, and much of that stemmed from their more limited magical capacity and how they needed to work around their limitations. Still think that era 1 was done very well though, and that Mistborn gave us a good way to see most of the Allomantic powers in action.

Oh yes, many of them. Nice. I may use that, actually, if it's alright with you. Lol , it's a Koloss sword that he's fond of. Probably ditches it when he has to fight those pesky Mistborn though; can't have anybody Steelpushing your weapon around! One of the many perks of being a Feruchemical pewter junkie

It's so funny, I actually did read Warbreaker before any SA too, but I somehow managed to have it completely fly over my head that the big, obvious sword bleeding black smoke and politely asking if anyone wanted to destroy evil was, in fact, Nightblood from Warbreaker. I only noticed the connection when I was reading the scene in OB where Szeth tracks down the escaped criminals. Took me an embarrassingly long time to spot it.

I had no idea this forum was here until just yesterday! So, I've made some drawings in my spare time (which I think are OK, though not amazing or anything) and I thought that I might share them with you guys to see what you think Here's a Steel Inquisitor I tried to draw.

We know that it is possible to beat almost all Invested healing methods by wounding someone with aluminum and leaving it in their body to prevent healing. We also know that it is possible to burn metals that aren't swallowed but are in the flesh of the Allomancer. So if a Fullborn or some other Invested individual who had access to a healing power was pierced by aluminum and had it lodged in their body, they could burn away the aluminum to remove it and allow them to heal from their injuries. They would have to be careful though, as they would drain all other power they had at the time in their body.

I think that @Mistchemist16 meant that the effects of the Blessing of Potency, except only the strength. Although I think that the Blessing of Potency may actually provide more than just strength; we've seen in WoA that Sazed comments on his Koloss capturers being "inhumanly quick" and in HoA Sazed mentions that some fifth generation Kandra also have "inhuman speed", likely because they have the Blessing of Potency. Also, Tensoon mentions that he is able to have more endurance with the Blessing of Potency (he also mentions that it isn't as much as Allomantic pewter). Though I suppose it could just have been a side effect of enhanced strength.

I suppose that makes more sense than Shallan somehow knowing how someone hardcore would actually be despite never meeting one. I hadn't considered that before. She still isn't exactly my favorite character, but I think she's good to have in the book overall.

Eh, I didn't like Veil's character too much either. I don't exactly hate her, but I don't like the character's attitude or personality either; she feels a bit too forced. I do like the espionage she does though, which makes her sections worth reading. Plus, I'd rather have a diverse cast of characters than have all of them be the same, even if I don't like all of them a whole lot. (also, you may want to put this in the SA section)

Mistborn, Feruchemist, Awakener, Surgebinder or Elantrian?

Here's a hypothetical scenario: you're a Returned who is Cosmere aware, but has been kicked off of Nalthis. Permanently. How do you find Investiture to feed off of? And yes, Stormlight from Roshar is the easiest way, so let's say that you also somehow managed to get kicked off of Roshar by Cultivation as well. Does anyone have any ideas as to how they could obtain other sources of Investiture to feed off of? Here's a few of mine: 1. Go to Scadrial, learn about Hemalurgy and drop all your morals (or become a vigilante and only become morally grey- another word for dropping all your morals ). Proceed to Hemalurgically spike someone, then feed off the Investiture as it seeps out of the spike. Basically become a Cosmere vampire. 2. Go to Scadrial and convince the Malwish you are the Sovreign and get them to create Nicrosilmind Medallions to feed you as you please. 3. Go to Sel- don't get vaporized by the cognitive plasma-storm along the way- and find a Forger to rewrite your past to say you never died. Then consume the Investiture from the Forgery. Reapply Forgery as needed. 4. Go to Sel, find Elantris, beg a bit of AonDor from a charitable Elantrian and become their servant for the next two hundred years as they sustain you. 5. Go to Taldain...realize that all you need to do is sunbathe on Dayside. If that doesn't work, eat White Sand and hope for the best.

Here's what I could find on the topic. I too also remember seeing a quote mentioning that Nightblood's power was comparable to Susebron, but I can't find it, so maybe I'm just misremembering.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints corner

That was quite a lovely video @ShallanStormblessed! I love that the church has been putting more music videos out now. It really helps me feel the spirit. -
Glad to see my post was useful for brainstorming! I would say that you could potentially become an Allomantic Savant more easily by burning duralumin than by just flaring it. I believe that it has less to do with the total Investiture that has flown through your Spiritweb, and has more to do with the stress it places on your Spiritweb. Basically, if an Allomancer were to flare a metal for six months almost nonstop they'd have a greater chance of becoming a Savant than if they were to use a low burn for six months almost nonstop; their Spiritweb is being strained as it draws more Investiture from Preservation than its spiritual DNA designed it to, and if it isn't given some time to rest properly, things begin to break and warp in unnatural ways to better accommodate the flow of Investiture. I'm also not certain that you can get too much more powerful by trying to get the extreme effects of Savantism; you don't increase your Connection to Preservation, so you don't draw more Investiture when you burn metals (well, maybe you get a little more raw Investiture as the "keyhole" of your Spiritweb widends, but likely not much), you just get "shaped" better spiritually and physically to accommodate and use the Investiture that you get.

No no, your idea has merit. It's definitely something worth considering, and isn't something everyone thinks about when they see a fictional character who is immortal. And actually, I agree with you in that immortality would not be all it's cracked up to be in most cases. If I were a high-Heightened Awakener, for example, I'd love to be youthful for one hundred years maybe, but without my loved ones sticking with me, things would go south quickly. Kandra do happen to have loved ones who stick around though, which is great. So personally, I think a Kandra's immortality is still nice.

I've occasionally seen posts asking about whether or not people would choose to be an Allomancer or a Feruchemist, or what other kind of magic user they'd like to be, but I haven't yet seen one for Kandra. But it seems like they have a lot going for them; they don't age (or hardly do, at least), they don't get sick, they can give themselves a perfect body- or pretty much any body (including non human ones) that they want so long as it conforms to physics, they can do neat things like turn off their pain receptors or graft flesh onto someone else to heal them, And to top it off they get a magical boon from their Blessings. So who wouldn't want to be a Kandra instead of a Mistborn, Feruchemist, or maybe even a Fullborn? Explanations of opinions welcomed.

We're actually not certain that regular Bio-Chromatic Breaths can be stolen with Hemalurgy as of yet. According to WoB, they are mostly physical in nature. Personally, I think that Breaths you are born with may be spiritual more than physical, but when they transfer over to someone else they become more physical. This would explain why a small portion of extra Investiture gets pulled off with them and why the Breaths take after the original owner's personality. I have wondered about whether or not Metalminds store Investiture in the physical realm or not. We know that the capacity for holding Investiture is not linear; there are different "sizes" that could be reached and that a slight increase to the amount of metal in a Metalmind may not increase its total Investiture-holding capacity. This could be because the spiritual aspect of the Metalmind matters more than the physical aspect. Perhaps this means that the Feruchemical Investiture resides mostly in the spiritual realm?- 456 replies

Not sure I agree with that. After all, Straff Venture exists True, the smartest thing would have been to kill her immediately, but he hadn't been seriously challenged in one thousand years. Plus, Vin did have to draw in the Mists to kill him, which isn't something he could have accounted for. He didn't know how to use the Well of Ascension effectively at first, since he didn't exactly have experience wielding the power of creation before. He tried to move the planet closer to the sun at first to burn away the mists, which he knew were a serious problem at the time (just as we saw in HoA). He moved the planet closer to the sun as necessary though and needed to create the Ashmounts to keep people from dying. He continued to make changes to fix the world but didn't change the things already changed because Preservation's Intent restricted his ability to act in that way. As to how he ran the Final Empire, he got pretty much everything that he wanted. So it isn't a lack of intelligence on his part that so many people are mistreated and miserable in the Final Empire- it's due to a lack of morality and care for others on his part, which I think is a separate issue entirely.- 456 replies

I'd choose Allomantic Atium if on Scadrial since I would be really powerful in combat and I could use that power to help find other Investitures that could extend my lifespan. Many skill-related tasks would also likely become a total breeze, which is tempting. Plus, it helps with learning Hemalurgic Bindpoints...so yeah, I obviously find that aspect really cool. If I were on Earth, with no other Investiture sources available, it's a bit tougher of a decision. I'd probably take Atium youth though, as keeping a healthy, peak performance body for about a century (I might want to live longer depending on technological advancements and such) seems like a better deal. Plus, as with @alder24 I don't really fight IRL, so Atium's application Allomantically would be more limited (though I suppose the precognitive skill-boost would be missed).

Alright, just did that. You're absolutely right (already thought Feruchemical speed was busted), a Steelrunner probably wouldn't fear most swordsmen since they move like molasses.- 456 replies

Elentrians, Dakor Monks, and Hemalurgy
Trusk'our replied to Kendelian's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
Yes, that should be well within the scope of Hemalurgy's power. You'd probably need to take their "power" plus their Connection however, as Connection alone isn't usually enough to gain their powers. I don't believe that anything weird would happen if a Dakhor monk gained Elantrian powers though; They'd just have all the benefits of both magic systems. You may also be able to use Feruchemical duralumin to replace the need to Hemalurgically take their Connection, freeing you from the need to use two spikes. Not all Dakhor monks have the ability to negate Aons. In fact, Dilaf is the only one we see in Elantris that has such an ability, and it is suggested to be more costly than other improvements, requiring the sacrifice of fifty people. Mistborn spoilers.- 4 replies
