  1. Nightblood is accumulating more and more investiture. it can only take X amount of Investiture in until it is full. for a time. after a rest it can take more in again. I thought Nightblood is not keeping the Investiture and rather breaks it down and makes it return to the beyond. the WOB suggests that its sucking it in and keeping it there.
  2. Raboniel was the one thing that kept me interested in the book. I think the reason for the slow progress of the Singers is cultural. they are more tribalistic than scholarly. with some exceptions. even Raboniel gives theological answers to scientific ones. we don't know (or do we?) what is going on when they are send back to Braize. what can they test there. can they only really progess when they are on Roshar? the limiting factor for both parties were the Desolations. the humans had 4000 years to advance while the Fused where locked up on Braize and couldn't. on the plus side for the Fused the humans also lost their strongest allies and forgot much about the Bonds. the Spren are also reluctant now. considering the humans normally had Heralds and an abundance of Spren I really wonder how the Fused and Singer even managed to fight back and did not get completely wiped of Roshar. cavemen or not. especially that since with every passing oath the Radiants would grow even more powerful. the Fused numbers dwindled while the Radiants became stronger by the day.
  3. this is fine and dandy. I could see that. still far from what Bondsmiths already did or were about to do. its also not a deliberate or controlled process. not the way you suggest it.
  4. " No good can come of two Shards settling in one location. It was agreed that we would not interfere with one another, and it disappoints me that so few of the Shards have kept to this original agreement. " this is the quote the WOB means. " It is a pity about Aona and Skai, but they were foolish—violating our pact from the very beginning " you are still under the assumption that what Endowment is referring to in both quotes is the same thing. this quote doesn't say what it was that they broke while the other one above does. one is referring to an agreement the other to a pact.
  5. its based on what rules we know of. currently. Brandon can do w/e if he feels like it down the road, obviously. I just don't see that happening. compare it to other Compounding. a gold Compounder can't heal others, only itself. why would a Duralumin Compounder be able to affect the Connection of others? so far, this would make not much sense.
  6. that is still a connection from the Connector to another being. something that can be formed by merely looking at each other. then further amplified by Compounding. a Bondsmith can (should, by what we know) give someone else control over kandra or take control from someone away. not just himself.
  7. would be nice if you could fine me the quote for that one. or at least give me some pointers where this was said. " It is a pity about Aona and Skai, but they were foolish—violating our pact from the very beginning " Odium is not allowed to take direction action against another Shard. we may presume that Aona and Skai seemingly violated the agreement by settling on the same planet. I think they rather did something else they actually were not allowed to. Endowments words are not really specific on what they violated.
  8. the problem is he must find a way to be allowed to take direct action against another Shard before he could use anti-w/e or hes making himself vulnerable too.
  9. I believe that was why they got killed. Endownment (or?) said they broke their agreement. Odiums said that this would enable another Shard to kill/splinter him if he did that. I always wondered how Odium was able to do what he did. RoW gave a possible answer. nothing special about Odium. the other Shards gave him an opening. the only thing special is that hes willing/planning to kill other Shards.
  10. lets pretend the process is clear. Dalinar can Connect to people to understand them. he did so in Azir with the servant. no matter where they currently are. Connection to the land is not required. Connection to the one hes currently talking to is. or someone else who speaks that language. on the other hand, for the map he and Shallan create hes using his Connection to the land. (tapping Connections while being in the proximity of someone will make you understand them. it enhances the Connection to them.) lets assume its completely arbitrary and allows a Compounder (or regular Feruchemist) to establish any sort of Connection. that would still just be for themselves. Bondsmiths can change and add Connections to third parties. Ishar Connected Radiants to the ground. Ishar is able to rip Connections from someone else. this is not comparable at all.
  11. this is still outside the norm. Compounding does not change that. you store Connection. the Connection you already posses. Compounding this should give you back the Connection you already had 10 fold (paraphrasing). its should not give you additional Connection that you did not originally have. Bondsmiths can form and alter that at will. not just for themselves, but for others and things aswell. huge difference. Compounding: could create a strong bond to ones own family. weakens again once the Compounding stops. Bondsmith: could create a bond to a random family. possibly a persistent one. I suppose Brandon will do w/e he wishes with the spiritual attributes in the end though. even if it makes little sense so far.
  12. Rayse wouldn't be so dumb. the guy defeated 4 Shards already and then gets beaten by a dimwhit. I also thought that the violet sphere that sucked light in contained a Skaze.
  13. he is supposed to be void of limiting emotions. thats probably vague on purpose. it could mean anything. for him it means emotions that would hold him back in what he wants to do. whatever that is. I really dislike what Brandon did with Moash. idk why any of this was even necessary. he already picked a side. his regret for betraying Kaladin gave him depth. now hes hollow. destroyed an otherwise good character for me. I appreciate Moash, I don't appreciate Vyre.
  14. this is pretty much it. Bondsmiths can alter, relocate and create while Feruchemist can only store and tap what they already have. Brandon could make exceptions here. if its following the regular rules its still usefull, but less so than Bondsmiths abilities.
  15. justified. Jezrien is a mass murderer. all the Heralds are.
  16. my love for Moash took a huge hit. why does he care about Teft? is Moash second guessing his actions now? come on. Moash did nothing wrong. Brandon did Moash dirty in this book. its not even funny. he was perfect and right. now hes depicted as evil. why?
  17. don't be so condescending because someone else doesnt like something as much as you do. Syl bonded a nobody. all the Honorspren did. the spren did not go for leaders. by that logic any highprince should now be Radiant. somehow it only applies to the Kholins and friends. sorry. you may like those sort of fairytale stories. I dont. I prefer stories like Mistborn.
  18. Lift is special. she does not get knocked out because shes Lift special. so much for that. the surges are part Cultivation and part Honor. as per Raboniels explanation. since Kaladin is fueling his Surges by Stormlight he can keep using the surge closer to Honor. as Lift is fueling her Surges by Lifelight she can keep using the surge close to Cultivation.
  19. Dalinar makes his initial request to the Nightwatcher. Cultivation interferes once the Nightwatchers fails to do what Dalinar wishes for.
  20. Adonalsium is THE god. the rest are Shards of this true god. Whimsy is a required part of Adonalsium or else he would not be able to act. thats my assumption. if all other parts are in balance (like Harmony) there must be 1 part (Sazed) that tips the scales towards a decision. I seriously don't see the other parts as more devine than Whimsy. whats devine about Honor?
  21. worked alright for Kaladin and the rest of Bridge Four. there was absolutely no need in the story to make every Kholin and their grandmother a full on Radiant. not to mention 2 of the 3 possible Bondsmiths included... Navani was already special. very special. extraordinarily special. this just became absurd at some point. SA Kholin characters are like 12y olds table top fantasies. this is irritating. its not destroying the book for me as a whole. its still irritating.
  22. unfortunately. throwing Rlain in the mix was obviously a red herring. same goes for Dabbid. maybe I am interpreting the passages wrong and the Sibling was convinced by Navani in the end. I still don't like it. I never liked that Kholins and friends did everything. even marrying one (or two...) is enough, apparently.
  23. "I will stop the need for protection." so far Kaladin is fighting the symptoms rather than the cause. seeking an end to the war is better than protecting from its effects. ending conflict instead of shielding individuals against it.
  24. thats the best take on it I would say. Szeth does not follow the law. he follows Dalinar. so as long as Dalinar is not explicitely ordering him or forbidding something hes pretty free in his actions. he would maybe have to face judgement by Dalinar later on if he is stretching the rules.
  25. the Sibling was forced into a bond with someone it calls unworthy. I also see no reason to keep the bond up once the imminent danger subsided. not under these circumstances. we don't necessarily know what the Sibling actually thinks though. imo the Sibling was either lying about its opinion of Navani or it decided to try to make the bond work anyways now that its already established. for one reason or another. the Sibling is very smart for an unbound Spren. it knew that humans were good with words and convincing in arguments. it did not like that fact, but it still accepted when Navani was right. the Sibling is reasonable and was shown to change its mind on things. I can see it having changed its mind about Navani, but not openly admitting to it. not yet.
