just Kelsier musing about how odd it is that two gods rolled into one could still remain so human. there is really nothing poetic about that line except for the usage of the word "twain" maybe. and thats unusual rather than poetic.
-
his answer to the question what the meaning of life is was also a pretty heavy implication that he is controlled by Ruin. all things considered, it would be odd if he was not pierced by metal.

agreed. its a huge part of the book. perception. Adolin is percieved as having done the right thing. in the grand scheme of things, he has. it was still murder. Dalinar has a change of heart. he was a monster before. worse than Sadeas? maybe. he definitely enjoyed killing more. that much is clear. would he deserve death for his former attorcities? I say yes. somehow this was necessary to defend against Odiums influence. does the end justify the means? dabatable. that does not and never will make these actions good. each example listed innocent people were killed. if you throw bombs on innocents you are the bad guy. wether you just push the buttom you are ordered to push or give the order. you are the bad guy. maybe you are able to live with yourself like this, like Dalinar did, but you remain the bad guy.

What were your reactions to the biggest Sanderson Reveals?
trav replied to dannnex's topic in Cosmere Discussion
the most interesting thing about Brandons cosmere books is the magic systems for me. the means each and every reveal is only of small interest to me anyways. I had the biggest reaction when I found out that Sazed was already protecting Scadrial from an outside force he did not know. oh, and the reveal about what made the Knights Radiant quit. that one really made me smile as it is very much how I would have reacted in that situation. its a very relatable outcome. -
Unpopular Brandon Sanderson Opinions
trav replied to not an Evil Librarian's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Moash did nothing wrong. he was always very upfront about his hatred towards Elokhar. his reason to hate Elokhar were also reasonable. Elokhar was a liability for the entire nation. he even told Kaladin what he was going to do. Kaladin was willing to let it happen for a while. Kaladin is the bad guy, not Moash. Moash choose the right side to fight for. the Parshendi are the good guys. -
If Other Authors Wrote the Cosmere Novels
trav replied to Fatebreaker's topic in General Brandon Discussion
GRRM every use of actual magic would have severe repercussions. more focus on the house war. characters would behave very realistically. everyone betrays everyone. Hoid would be like Tyrion Lannister. EoS Vin and Sazed would have little TLR babies.- 163 replies

I am unsure if the one that fills the unkeyed metalmind has to be the same person that also unseals it. the nicrosil mind and then other mind can come from 2 differnt persons imo. making a unkeyed metalmind requires 1 spike (or a full feruchemist). what the nicrosil mind requires to unseal it, we don't yet know. but since you would require the ability to tap the respective unkeyed mind you are most likely right. the actual conundrum remains. how would anyone without nicrosil feruchemy be able to tap the powers from the nicrosil mind to gain access to the other metalmind? EDIT: should probably have said "at least 1 spike". twinborn exist so 1 can be enough.
-
the problem is not how to get the F-Nicrosil into nicrosil. you only store a part of a power/attribute and it accumulates over time. storing 50% of your ability to story over 1h will give someone else the ability to use 100% of your power for 30minutes. its more about how the people who should not be able to tap nicrosil at all are granted an ability by the nicrosil. to be able to tap the unkeyed metalminds in the medaillions the user would need to become a temporary feruchemist in that metal. which is what the nicrosil is supposed to do. that is what unseals the metalmind. the remaining mystery is how this is possible. in any case a spike is required cause you need someone with 2 feruchemical abilities. Aluminium + X.
-
The same like you store your ability to heal yourself. Feruchemy only stores parts of everything. while storing weight you do not become weightless. you only store a fraction of your "ability" to be pulled by gravitational force. that fraction can then be tapped at a 100% rate, but for less time. the moment you store 50% of your ability to store you only have access to 50% of the power of your Nicrosil storing. or something like that. so you can only store 50% of your ability at a 50% rate.

Unpopular Brandon Sanderson Opinions
trav replied to not an Evil Librarian's topic in General Brandon Discussion
when Brandon tries to write witty character remarks they most often then not fall flat. the exhange between Kelsier and Hoid was way too forced in Hoids favor. -
you have to try hard to force similarities. slaves? Kelsier was a prisoner. scars? Kaladins could go away if he wanted. the reasons they have them are very different too. following? so had Roadin. so has Kenton. its regular main cast stuff. Kelsier has a cult. Kaladin doesn't. magic? well thats the magic system. not them. cognitive realm? one went there as a human. the other as a cognitive shadow. its also nothing unique. sorry I don't see it. the characters are so vastly different. even though they are both mentally ill their illnesses are so different from each other that not even that could be considered a similarity.
-
when Kelsier vs Kaladin is a toss up depending on the situation then Vin vs Kaladin is a victory for Vin in almost any situation. shes the better Allomancer ik Vin never used it, but as an afterthough Chromium could makes this match a joke, imo.

Who are the most boring characters in Stormlight Archive
trav replied to Bearer of all agonies's question in Cosmere Q&A
Shallan by a large margin. not funny. not interesting. nothing. this is with the entire story so far in mind. Shallan became better at the end and the chapters were less of a drag to read. on average, shes still by far the worst and most boring character. nothing wrong with that though. I don't have to like everything about a book to enjoy the book in general. -
Why Radiants are incredibly overpowered, and Mistborn aren't.
trav replied to Frustration's topic in Cosmere Discussion
with background knowledge for each I believe even the oaths to be exploitable for an allomancer. push and pull on the right emotions and make the Radiants doubt their ideals. this would required vast knowledge of the magic system and also some kind of leverage, like an uncomfortable truth etc. its just a thought, since oaths are based so much in perception. for the mentally instable Kaladin this could be fairly easy, I assume. -
I do not think that any hightening or being a Drab affects physical strength. there was no indication that I can remember that the God Emperor was above human strength. with his insane amount of Breaths he should have been though, if Breath increased it.

Miles takes feruchemical gold and burns it. which uses the feruchemical effect and fuels it with allomancy. the gold is used up in this process. burned. this increases the effectiveness of the feruchemical attribute. he can store 1 health and get 10 back. if he does so while already healthy he can simply store the 10 health in another gold mind. rinse repeat. near infinite health at the cost of a bit of gold.

all of the Inquisitors. the Nightmaws. TLR was too stressed out already by the time we saw him. he was tired of it all. the Inquisitors on the other hand were still eager and brutal to the core. and the Nightmaws drawing closed was the most intense moment in any of the cosmere books I've read so far.

at first I felt like Brandon tried way too hard with Lift, but Edgedancer changed my mind. now I like the character. still not the most believable one but somehow thats fine for me now.
-
its a synonym. thats why its a theory. otherwise I would call it knowledge.

Adonai being the basis for Adonal-sium. why the "sium" at the end? the postfix "-ium" is used for the god metals (for Odium it would be Raysium). Adonalsium is actually just the body of the god. not the god Adonal. shattering Adonalsium only broke his body appart. Adonal is still there.

Why Radiants are incredibly overpowered, and Mistborn aren't.
trav replied to Frustration's topic in Cosmere Discussion
as gravity manipulation of objects requires contact a Mistborn can shoot an infinite amount of coins into a Radiants face and wittle them down eventually. the biggest selling point for Radiants are their Shardblade/Shardshield or w/e they currently wish their spren to become. if both parties have knowledge of each other a Mistborns chance rise. Chromium can remove the investiture from the Radiant. 1 touch, 1 pewter punch, Mistborn wins. -
Nightblood is an attempt to recreate what Shardblades do. its not a Shardblade. its a sword of regular metal endowed with additional abilities. Shardblades are spren. dead or alive.

shes probably the most attractive of the vessels making this a joke answer.

Why did nobody on the Mainland ever try to bond multiple Aviars?
trav replied to Oltux72's topic in Cosmere Discussion
even though I only recently read the story I can not remember if it was said that the ones arround the Pantheon are the only predetors. its also not too odd that an item is sought after for its novelty. my point still stands. we don't know which abilities exist. if there is only 1 usefull ability (i.e. 2 known in total, you ruled out the hiding) then there is still no reason to own 2. -
Why did nobody on the Mainland ever try to bond multiple Aviars?
trav replied to Oltux72's topic in Cosmere Discussion
that quote was regarding a new form of Aviar. how many different Aviar are known? would owning 2 even make sense?
