  1. Maybe if he make the ball while having a vision. Itll play them out?
  2. 1. its interesting that Urithiru was powered directly by the Spiritual Realm. 2. also, they seem to have unlocked the Oathgates to allow physical access to Shadesmar. 3. the Singers seem the hum, to activate their stormlight stealing daggers.
  3. This might help. i dont it would work. with Savantism, your soul is actually changing into something else. the way brandon states it, he makes it sound like it would get rid of malady’s affecting your body and soul. but your soul shifting isn’t a malady.
  4. Pinpoint (paraphrased) If Hoid got beheaded, would his body grow a new head? Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased) Yes. Pinpoint (paraphrased) What if Hoid got cut by a Shardblade? Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased) The Shardblade cuts the soul and what Hoid does heals the soul. Words of Radiance release party (March 3, 2014)
  5. there were mistings that existed before that. Its natural form should be the form it first manifested in. and with Allomancy, that was mistings. Without Rashek's intervention(or even, Leras placing the lerasium there) there would be no Mistborn
  6. I dont think it’s this one, since brandon says “Because Ruin's Investiture is everywhere--but I'm not talking that way. I'm talking the way you actually mean it.“ I think Brandon is indirecty stating that some of Ruin’s physical manifestations of Investiture were used or used during the creation of, Nightblood. well he doesn’t say anything about it being used during his creation. But it would have to be the only way. if any investiture he eats becomes part of him then he’d have Endowment, Ruin, Honor, and probably cultivation’s investiture by now but if Ruin’s investiture were used during his creation. It should leave an imprint. Change the very way Nightblood worked/thought. i dont know if it would be possible to make a Nightblood-like sword solely with Endowments investiture(well, im sure anything is possible) Maybe they needed investiture from the very Shard who is about decay and breaking things apart
  7. i dont know if Ruin put it there. It was probably Vasher and Shashara Walin Does Nightblood contain any of Ruin's Investiture? Like, not atium, but... Brandon Sanderson Yes, technically; and I'm not wiggling around that, because technically, location in the Cosmere and who belongs to what gets really weird, right? Because Ruin's Investiture is everywhere--but I'm not talking that way. I'm talking the way you actually mean it. Legion Release Party (Sept. 19, 2018)
  8. I really wish Brandon had kept the Zquiz in the novel or at least transplanted them to a different novel. They were really interesting concept to read about(even though it was only a few paragraphs) its been a while since i read Mythwalker, but i think Brandons original plans for Ix was for him to be a Zquiz that had decided to be human i still think he can still find a home for them-with a little tweaking. like peter says, they are reminiscent of spren.(maybe he could put them in one of his random cosmere novellas or something?) if you didnt read that part
  9. You’re not wrong. Theres also reference to a language spoken on Yolen. Tyran Amiros Why does Bastille say they're speaking Melerandian in book 1 and Nalhallan from book 2 on? Brandon Sanderson When I originally wrote Alcatraz Versus The Evil Librarians, I put that in there partially as a throwaway joke. Melerand is one of the main kingdoms in Dragonsteel, and I thought it would be amusing for them to be speaking that language somehow filtered into this world. By the end of the book I decided that Alcatraz could not be anywhere in the same continuity as Dragonsteel and that I was probably wrong for including that. Though there are other jokes in there relating to my other books—it's much like the scene where Quentin speaks in Spook's dialect. Those were just jokes, inside references to my other books. Remember that Alcatraz was written as a writing experiment, not as something that I was intending to publish. As the series grew more serious to me, meaning that I developed what I actually wanted to happen—which with me usually happens as I write book two of a series, when I sit down and build an arc for the entire series—I "realified" Alcatraz's world a little bit, if that makes sense, made it its own substantial thing. So at that point it wasn't appropriate for them to be speaking Melerandian anymore. Tor.com Q&A with Brandon Sanderson (Jan. 10, 2011)
  10. It would depend on the rarity of the spren, where they are in the CR, and if someone is already drawing them
  11. if such a Spren exitsts
  12. It says in the prologue, that the Winds pleasure had been missing for 5 months(or half a year)
  13. It is the God Beyond. Windrunner Shai refers to an Unknown God, is this at all related to the rocks that fell from the sky that Shai's ancestors carved? Brandon Sanderson For her people, there is a relationship. But watch for mentions of the God Beyond in the books. There is more here. /r/fantasy AMA 2013 (April 15, 2013)
  14. Thats what i was thinking too. like maybe a bunch of people left Taldain. Autonomy blocked/closed her perp and those people couldnt make it home so they went planet to planet instead. Eventually hoping to return home. Its not a very good theory(just came up with it) but it kinda works
  15. You dont need to meet someone to form a Connection with them. after The Winds pleasure sunk, a couple chapters later, Syl changes form into Shallan on the beach after the Santhid saved her. and she hadnt even met Kal yet. maybe because all things/times/places are one in the Spiritual Realm. even though Kaladin hadn’t met Shallan yet, he eventually would, and because of that, there was a Connection? Kalanit Taub When Jasnah picks up the bead for the palace, is that the same bead that Shallan picks up in Oathbringer? Brandon Sanderson Yeah. Kalanit Taub Is that a coincidence or is there something else...? Brandon Sanderson So, whenever things like that happen you can assume there's little bits of Connection going on that's changing the probability a little bit. You're not meant to read much into it, but the probability is increased because of thing like that. And you'll find, if you look really closely, there are connections between the characters that are really subtle that I'm doing, that anyone who's touching the Spiritual Realm or thing like that. For instance, in the second book, Syl turns into Shallan while Shallan is washed up on the beach while Syl is talking to Kaladin somewhere else. There's enough Connection going on that you see Syl change shapes, and Kal's like, "It looks like she's walking on a beach!" It's just Syl... because through all of that, is turning into... You'll find things like that <happening> all through the books, really subtle, really small. There's just meant to be, one of the things in the Cosmere is Connection. Your Connection to people, Connection to things, places, influences probability a little bit. ICon 2019 (Oct. 15, 2019)
  16. It would’ve been caught out in at least a dozen highstorms and everstorms. during the Kaza interlude the whole crew went to the island and left the ship. So it should’ve been out there the whole time. it should’ve went under when the storms past. otherwise people wouldnt need to hide in coves and stuff along the coasts, when they came. right?
  17. how the hell did First Dreams, survive out on the water all alone? for 5 months? more weird stuff happening around Aimia
  18. its not in Mistborn Prime or Dragonsteel prime. im not sure about Final empire prime though. also the word "shrugged" it get annoying lol
  19. Brandon has said that The One has some echoes of Adonalsium, but the religion is more influenced by rececnt events(after the shattering) Questioner Is the Iri religion based on knowledge of the [Shattering], anything like that? Brandon Sanderson Kind of, yes. Questioner But they don't know it? Brandon Sanderson They don't know it, yeah. I would say yes, there are echoes of it. There are more recent events that they don't even quite remember that are more influential. Oathbringer London signing (Nov. 28, 2017)
  20. Nightbloods sheath is Aluminum and contains his power when fully sheathed. But when He’s drawn(even only partly) the sheath itself also becomes a weapon so i think that statement is true when he’s completely sheathed, theres is no charge, but when partly drawn, a charge is running through the sheath itself so it also acts as a weapon.
  21. the Ars Arcanum isn’t directed towards the readers. it’s an informative essay, that would be read by people in-Cosmere(definitely cosmere aware), and would probably know what Vax is. so just because Khriss mention its initiation is different, doesnt mean that we would know what Vax is or that its in a system we already know, but in word Cosmere-aware people probably would. its not like khriss’ thought process is “ok, ive gave the readers some info, now ill throw the word “vax” into Sel’s arcanum and see if they can connect the dots" she just writing down information that other scholars, like her, would already understand. I dont think shes trying to hint thats its in a system we already know about. Vax can be a major Shardword thats not super relevant. I seriously doubt Brandon is planning on writing enough in the Cosmere, that each shard would have its own book(s) we’ll eventually know all 16 shards and original Vessels, but they probably aren’t all as relevant to the story that Brandon is trying to tell. Well probably run across A couple in the space age cosmere. theres still 6 shards we dont know about, and only one that we know of that isnt on a planet. And I think Aethers planet will at least have 1 shard in attendance(due to it being a “core magic” so the other 4 Shards should be invested in planets and have magics to go along with them. Maybe Vax is one of those planets. Not super relevant, but enough to get references(and who know, maybe a novella or something too eventually, but thats just guesses. Brandon has said absolutely nothing about Vax, other than that it’s suggested to be a place and Leras would recognize Vax too)
  22. There are worlds that have humans and magic systems that are not directly powered by Shards, but all magic in the Cosmere orginates from Adonalsium and therefore the Shards now that they have his remains. Adonalsium set up some magic system and when he was Shattered those existing magic systems got transferred to the Shards. So even though they aren’t Invested in said planet and arent involved with the magic, it still comes from them i dont know if they will know of Adonalsium, but there would probably be Echoes, or just some kinda innate knowledge so there are worlds that have had magic systems made by Adonalsium that exist after the shattering(and the presence of a magic system indicates that there should be sapient beings using said magic systems before and after the Shattering) Phantine Are there any magic systems in the cosmere that aren't shard based? Brandon Sanderson This depends on definitions. The effects of Adonalsium permeate everything, and Adonalsium is also the source of the Shards. It is possible to find a magic that isn't DIRECTLY powered by a specific shard, however, though most of these would have been set up before the shattering and would be much smaller in scope than things like Allomancy and Surgebinding. /r/fantasy AMA 2013 (April 17, 2013)
  23. When peering into the CR, like Shallan does, its like manifesting your soul into the CR and Spren and things can probably directly hurt your soul like that Bromo_Sapien When somebody travels into the Cognitive Realm, what happens to their physical self? To their body? Like Elsecalling or through a Shardpool? Brandon Sanderson Well it depends on the way they’re doing it. The two ways you’ve mentioned transport the physical body. It’s actually creating a rift and slipping them through. But there are other ways that you kind of peek in, where your body’s saying it’s a little more astral projection-y in those cases. Bromo_Sapien So their physical self would also be in the Cognitive Realm? Brandon Sanderson Yes. Bromo_Sapien Okay. Brandon Sanderson Which is weird. Bromo_Sapien As opposed to somebody like Kelsier who died and no longer has a physical self. Brandon Sanderson Yes, right. Or when Shallan is Soulcasting and peeking in, and things like this. It can still be dangerous, because what’s happening is that little soul bubble there that’s manifesting into a version of your soul and then things can get at it in different ways and stuff. So... But yes, going in physically means you just pop between realms, and yeah, yeah… Bromo_Sapien And when they leave the Cognitive Realm their Physical self just leaves the Cognitive Realm the same... Brandon Sanderson Yep, mhm, yep. Bromo_Sapien Perfect. Brandon Sanderson Basically you’re transferring into Investiture and popping out of Investiture, so... Boskone 54 (Feb. 17, 2017)
  24. Nale would've bonded his spren after Honor's death.i dont think he wouldnt have any personal knowledge of how it changed
  25. She also mentions that she so often thinks of her grandmother and the God Beyond as the same
