  1. Well a lot of rockbuds have flowers and I dont know what other purpose they could serve. plenty of plants on earth use wind pollination.
  2. Change the name of Google to Lougle nuff said
  3. If she bought it, just recently, off the Brandon Sanderson store website, itll tell you which printing it is on the Site book page. the well of ascension is the only leather bound im missing. Im pretty sure its on its second printing right now because when i tried to buy one last winter, it was out of stock on the first printing edit: @Callandor3it looks like they're recently out of stock on the second printing. So that must be what you have.
  4. Having a great number of interconnected magic systems and planets helps. its especially intriguing when we get some tid bits about the magic or cosmere overall and then get to see these wonderfully created characters going through these same problems and slowly figuring them out while still telling their own story. i live for the day when we get to see a bunch of characters from different planets openly discussing Uncle Ado and his/shards magics
  5. I like to think that Dalinar is the key to reviving the deadeyes. something to do with his spiritual adhesion and connecting with the remnants(if there is any) of the souls of the Radiants who betrayed their oaths but then again, i like to think that Dalinar is the key to everything, so
  6. There was a chance that Words of Radiance could’ve been titled as “The Book of Endless Pages” but Brandon didn’t think it fit well, so we got “words of radiance” instead as far as i know it doesn’t have any major future relevance in-world Questioner Who’s going to be the focus for the next Way of Kings? Brandon Sanderson I spent a long time deliberating this, and eventually, in my plotting, I came upon one of those moments where you’re “Ah, this is what I need to do”, so it is going to be Shallan. So the focus for the next book is Shallan, and half of you want it to be Dalinar, and half of you want it to be Shallan, Dalinar will get his book, Shallan will get her book, but there’s a funny story here. In my original outline, I named many of the books, like Dalinar’s is named Highprince of War. Shallan’s book was actually named after the book that Jasnah gives her, which is very thematically important to her. But then I started telling it to people, and they started laughing, because the book that Jasnah gave her is called the Book of Endless Pages. So, I thought that was a really cool title, but apparently, that’s going to give the reviewers too much fuel. So you can pretend in your head that it’s called that, but I’ll come up with a different name. Alloy of Law release party (Nov. 7, 2011)
  7. That would be dope. We know that physical spren can grab things, as evidenced by Syl getting Kal a poison leaf. what if the lifespren or some other variety of spren are going from flower to flower and accidentally spreading pollin
  8. So in Words of Radiance chapter 45: Middlefest, Shallan meets a merchant who has a parrot that can talk. His name is none other than Jeksonofnone. This is supposed to be a callback to Jek from the Prime right? even before i ever read any of the Prime, i had heard that Szeth was called Jek and i was like “this has to be a reference to szeth” Jek + son-of-none sounds like szeth to me
  9. It goes the way of Kings words of radiance edgedancer oathbringer dawnshard Rhythm of war
  10. Oops. I read that passage wrong
  11. His voice was the same. he was trying to mimic Galladons accent though
  12. im sure they do have some kind of pollinator. There are mentions of “small insects” on Roshar in the books and they usually just call any insect a “cremling”. so im sure we’ve seen a few pollinator “cremlings” around
  13. Well they are definitely cool. Worth it? Probably not. usually the only differences are the leather itself, some illustrations and maybe a deleted scene. It really just depends on if your a hardcore collector or not. i bought all of them(except Well of Ascension) because “they just looked so cool” and i love the Cosmere. well, 1 year later and im down $500 dollars, ive only opened two of the books and they just sit in my nightstand(i dont have a nice bookshelf for em) it really just depends on what you want. If your into collecting and actually have someplace show it off/use it, then yeah its worth it. Or even if you dont show it off and its just of great value to you. But if you wont really have em on display or someplace they can be held/looked at/appreciated,then no, its not worth it the allure can be tempting though. I barely talked myself out of spending $200 on WoK even though i know im gonna do absolutely nothing with it
  14. there should be a link near the top of the newsletter. at the bottom of the index, its pretty easy to miss.
  15. i had to use a different email to get it to work only the first chapter or so is available in the Arcanum Unbounded. the whole novel is in the newsletter(38 chapters. 40 counting prologue and epilogue)
  16. i think he will be. after the 10-15 in year gap between Book 5&6, he will be roughly 16-21 years old. the perfect age for a new young hero in the back half of the series
  17. i admit though, its pretty hard(for me at least) to see her as anyone other than Shallan Kabsal Huh. It seems a proto-Shallan did already exist as of this version [Way of Kings Prime]. I thought with the prologue's discussions of House Davar that Shallan would have been a more recent development. Peter Ahlstrom Brandon sees Shinri and Shallan as entirely different people who have the same last name and are both Jasnah's ward. However, most of the other characters are the same people as they are in the published novel. General Reddit 2017 (Sept. 19, 2017)
  18. maybe because thats not Shallan XD Brandon didnt invent Shallan until the Canon Way of Kings
  19. Ati and Leras are from Yolen (but I agree that it's a Shardworld!): i think he meant that they came from Vax directly before creating Scadrial theres WoB that most Shards have meddled around on most other Shardworlds and Ati and Leras would both recognize it. "The being called Patji still exists, and is a Shard of Adonalsium. Shards in the past have been interested in First of the Sun, and have meddled in small ways there. (Like they have on a lot of Shardworlds.)" Sel is a corner case. every other Shardworld we know of doesnt have most of the Shards power locked in the CR. which is the whole reason for the different country magics. thats still not humans performing magic. its interacting with it. its magic Birds. id say thats pretty environmental and not anything like Surgebinding or Allomancy "I intend the minor Shardworlds to involve interactions with the magic as setting--coming back to spren, you could have a minor Shardworld with people who use, befriend, even bond spren. (Or the local equivalent--Seon, Aviar, etc.) But you'd never see power on the level of the city of Elantris, the actions of a Bondsmith, or even the broad power suite of a Mistborn." General Reddit 2018 (March 18, 2018) Questioner What differentiates a minor Shardworld like First of the Sun? Brandon Sanderson The amount of Investiture, and whether there is actually a Shard in presence. Questioner I'm assuming there is not one there? Brandon Sanderson There is not one there. Questioner So it's like a Splintered one from something else? Brandon Sanderson No what you'll find is that the worlds were all created with a level of-- a little bit of sort of ambient magic. What you'll find in worlds like that is things like, Shadows for Silence and things like this, the magic, it's not necessarily "people with magic" it's you can interact with nature... Questioner So there is inherent Investiture... Brandon Sanderson There is inherent investiture in every world created but you are going to see-- You aren't going to find Mistborn on a world like that but what you might find is a way there are magic aspects to the setting. Spren could exist on a world like that but they would be like the minor spren, you wouldn't find Syl, but you would find something like lifespren. Salt Lake City Comic-Con 2014 (Sept. 4, 2014)
  20. Kaimipono Allomancy is fueled by Preservation's body? How exactly does that work? And how does that interact with Atium—it's fueled by both gods' bodies? Brandon Sanderson The powers of Ruin and Preservation are Shards of Adonalsium, pieces of the power of creation itself. Allomancy, Hemalurgy, Feruchemy are manifestations of this power in mortal form, the ability to touch the powers of creation and use them. These metallic powers are how people's physical forms interpret the use of the Shard, though it's not the only possible way they could be interpreted or used. It's what the genetics and Realmatic interactions of Scadrial allow for, and has to do with the Spiritual, the Cognitive, and the Physical Realms. Condensed 'essence' of these godly powers can act as super-fuel for Allomancy, Feruchemy, or really any of the powers. The form of that super fuel is important. In liquid form it's most potent, in gas form it's able to fuel Allomancy as if working as a metal. In physical form it is rigid and does one specific thing. In the case of atium, it allows sight into the future. In the case of concentrated Preservation, it gives one a permanent connection to the mists and the powers of creation. (I.e., it makes them an Allomancer.) So when a person is burning metals, they aren't using Preservation's body as a fuel so to speak—though they are tapping into the powers of creation just slightly. When Vin burns the mists, however, she'd doing just that—using the essence of Preservation, the Shard of Adonalsium itself—to fuel Allomancy. Doing this, however, rips 'troughs' through her body. It's like forcing far too much pressure through a very small, fragile hose. That much power eventually vaporizes the corporeal host, which is acting as the block and forcing the power into a single type of conduit (Allomancy) and frees it to be more expansive. Hero of Ages Q&A - Time Waster's Guide (Oct. 15, 2008) This WoB indicates that the Metallic Arts are what they are because its what the Realmatic interactions of Scadrial allowed for. It also suggests that different planets have different Realmatic interactions that should change how the Spiritual Realm interacts with the other realms. this should also be part of the reason why the CR looks different on other planets Its like different planets Realmatics interactions are running on different hardware that predetermines what interactions can take place. Which would affect the CR
