  2. Ill have Way of Kings Primes uploaded in an hour or so
  3. Hes an awakener as well
  4. After seeing @Elegy inspiring post on the statistical analysis of White Sand Prose, I decided i would do the same thing for AoN. Ive modeled the charts after the ones Elegy provided. and will be putting the chapter by chapter in a spoiler tag because of its length i wanted to also do one for Mistborn Prime, but its told entirely in the PoV of its main character, so there’s no point i didnt count the introduction by brandon at the beginning, chapter headings, etc... so its a few thousand words shorter than the full document Enioy! p.s. i refer to chapter 29 as “chapter 28” because there is no chapter 28 Unique POV Breakdown: Character (8) # of POVs (102) % of Total POVs Word Count (152,380) % of Word Count Raeth 54 52.94% 107,626 70.63% D’Naa 34 33.33% 34,697 22.77% Laene 5 4.90% 3,529 2.32% Darro 4 3.92% 3,990 2.62% Shaad 2 1.96% 1,077 0.71% Ala’d 1 0.98% 323 0.21% Agaris 1 0.98% 739 0.48% The Former 1 0.98% 399 0.26% its also interesting to note that even though Darro only got less than 4,000 words told through his PoV throughout the novel, Brandon loved his character enough to make him a transplant character in Nightblood(whenever it comes out)
  5. Well, Honor himsef said so. So i think that counts as proof "But in the days leading to the Recreance, Honor was dying. When that generation of knights learned the truth, Honor did not support them. He raved, speaking of the Dawnshards, ancient weapons used to destroy the Tranquiline Halls." Honor was mad/dying when he said that, but there is still plenty of truth to be had from the ravings of a dying god. Everything he says is still important(even though hes dying, he can still see/understand a whole lot more than a regular person ) but not everything he says is relevant.
  6. No idea. Maybe some people already had eyebrows like that on Ashyn or it could be a more recent evolution(on roshar) if it is evolution at all
  7. just a feeling i get when reading SA ive never imagined the Highprinces or much of anyone in Alethkar, really, as being very good at politics(just look at how the other nations veiw/interact with them) you want politics, go to the Azish you want war, go to the Alethi you want Chouta, go to Lopen
  8. he stil gives it away. i think he just left the link out of the latest newsletter for some reason.
  9. i thought that was a given XD
  10. @18th Shard is correct. if you go look at the ars arcanum, the symbols are meant for both the metals and numbers take chapter 18 of AoL for example it has the symbol for Duralumin and the symbol for steel. duralumin is the 16th metal listed on the Ars Arcanum and Steel is the Second. 16+2=18
  11. We kinda knew this one from Ash. The sleep part that is i was never sure if she was being literal here. “The ripping sensation finally ended. So abruptly that—for the first time in thousands of years—Ash fell unconscious.” -Oathbringer ch.121
  12. More evidence its Jasnah too. The WoB @Honorless posted and the ones i post are all from 2014-2015 and states it has spoilers for book 6 Back then, Brandon was planning Jasnah as the focus for Book 6. not proof, but its something i plan to start reading it tonight, so well see if i can find anything Questioner So the first one is Kaladin's backstory, the second is Shallan's backstory, who's next? Brandon Sanderson I actually haven't been able to decide yet. It's going to be one of the five for the first five books are Kaladin and Shallan and then Dalinar, Szeth, and Eshonai and I can't decide which one matches the next book best. And I'm going to have to write it... Argent What's the current list for the back five? Brandon Sanderson Current list for the back five... Jasnah, Lift, Ash, Renarin, and Taln. Footnote: Brandon eventually decided to go with Dalinar for Stormlight 3. Firefight Chicago signing (Feb. 20, 2015)
  13. I guess its Jasnah and Taln spoilers Phantine By the way, the chapters from Way of Kings Prime were pretty interesting when I read them in the [Altered Perceptions] anthology. I assume the rest of the book at the moment is still pretty spoilery... about where in The Stormlight Archiveseries would you consider it 'caught up' enough to do something with the rest of WoK'? Brandon Sanderson Unfortunately, one of the ways I made the series work was by splitting the character into two groupings, and doing half in the first five and half in the second. This means that WoK Prime doesn't spoil anything for Dalinar/Kaladin/Shallan. But it has huge spoilers for books six and seven, with Jasnah and Taln. So it will be a while. 14. Splinters of Honor from before the Shattering. that would be cool
  15. theres multiple dawnshards. define "living" just throwing in everything we know about them -theres a set number of em -one is different from all the rest -one is known to bind any creature "voidish or mortal" -they were used to destroy ashyn -at least one was at Aimia at some point -Honor thought they would be of use againt odium -they're now lost or not what they were -we dont know if they orginate from Ashyn but there were there before Roshar
  16. ive been meaning to make a post thats covers almost exactly what you stated. the use of "dawn" as a prefix always refers to a period of time long ago. dawnchant - language of singers when humans first got to Roshar dawncity- i believe it was the major cities of the Singers when the humans first arrived on Roshar dawnsinger- singers that existed when humans got to Roshar now Dawnshard- the use of dawn indicates something from long ago. and the only others times the word "shard" is used, is Shardblades/plate and the Shards themselves. both of them are/were pieces of Investiture with a mind attatched. this makes me think that the Dawnshards were "spren" or some kind of sentient splinter on Ashyn. maybe a splinter of Ado. a splinter of Ado that got assigned to one of the Shards(odium, culitvation or Honor) is bound to be different than a Splinter made directly by one of the Shards after the Shattering now the Destruction of Ashyn should have occured no more than 500-750 or so years after the Shattering.(very early in the cosmere timeline. probably even before Whitesand takes place.) Overlord Jebus Is all Investiture in the cosmere associated with a Shard? Brandon Sanderson Yes, well, okay. So this is a complicated one. *pauses* So, Investiture predates the Shattering of Adonalsium, all Investiture was from Adonalsium, all Investiture got assigned to one of the 16 Shards when Adonalsium was Shattered. Some of the Investiture was not on Yolen but location is irrelevant. So Investiture is related to Shards even on planets where none of the Shards are inhabiting. Overlord Jebus Are they aware of that Investiture? Brandon Sanderson That's part of the whole seeing into the infinite, being beyond even the power of a Shard. So, technically you could make the argument that Harmony could feel the sense of Preservation on every world in the cosmere, right? Because the building blocks of all life and creation are these things. Overlord Jebus So the Shard of Preservation embodies all preservation in the cosmere? Brandon Sanderson Yes but he just can't do that, right? Like, he's not infinite. The Vessels are not, even if their minds are enormously expanded by holding a Shard, they are not infinite. The Connection is all there in the Spiritual Realm Oathbringer London signing (Nov. 28, 2017)
  17. well, in book 4 we'll find out what they look like in the CR when trapped in a fabrial. this'll help us determine if its humane or not. what do you guys think happens to said spren? it'll should be almost entirely in the PR right? but it should still have a Cognitive Presence. u/Eragon_the_Huntsman What happens to a spren in the Cognitive Realm when it's in a fabrial? Brandon Sanderson I plan to answer this in book four. So RAFO, with a promise. General Reddit 2019 (Sept. 2, 2019)
  18. exactly. i feel like the level of knowledge required to make the Bands would either require someone who had Ascended or is a knowledgeable worldhopper
  19. your not missing anything. your'e actually asking the right questions.
  20. it was probably just easier for odium. Brandon said that the Singers gave Odium more of an ear the humans went to Roshar, started taking the Singers homes and the singers hated them for it and so when odium came and whispered or whatever to them, it was easier to convince the Singers to attack the humans that it was to convince the Humans to attack the Singers
  21. Im pretty sure its a fabrial arms race. we were introduced to a bunch of new fabrials last book and its been a year in-world since then so who know what they have now
  22. Its simple. he never invested there. Just cause he went to Ashyn doesnt mean he invested, any more than he “invested” on Sel or Threnody or any other planets hes been to also the fact that there are 10 gas giants in the system, suggests a pre-existing tie to the numbed 10 as the system was made by Adonalsium Hoidonalsium What was the order of the Shards coming to Roshar and changing allegiances? Did humans come with Odium? Brandon Sanderson So... you're talking about on Roshar specifically? So, Odium had visited Roshar. The humans gave him more of an ear... The Dawnsingers would have considered him the god of the people who had come, but-- I mean, it wasn't like they necessarily brought him. He was capable of getting around before that. I mean, he did kinda come along with them, he was instrumental in what happened there. Hoidonalsium Okay, but he was separate, and after Honor and Cultivation had really settled there? Brandon Sanderson Yes, he was after Honor and Cultivation had settled. Oathbringer Glasgow signing (Dec. 2, 2017)
