Guess That Cosmere Character! Forum Edition!
Honorless replied to Kidpen's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Rlain -
It is blursed I would also add Awakeners, Forgers, Sand Masters, Feruchemy, Aviar to the list of powers that aren't designed to cause harm Powers that are designed to cause harm would also include Soulcasting (not primary purpose), Shades of Threnody, Hemalurgy

Let's Discuss the Skybreakers.
Honorless replied to Daughter of Tanavast's topic in Stormlight Archive
I understand your dilemma, @wishiwasstormblessed, I get Skybreaker in these quizzes too. Skybreaker isn't so bad, tbh. They are about structure and precepts that everyone must adhere to. I loved their system of Oaths, they were much less fanatical than what I had initially assumed. Loved the idea of the Ideal of Crusade, in particular. But I think I would be a Lightweaver. -
I would want to be a Nicroburst in modern Scadrial, I think it could be quite cushy Or a Yolish Dragon I would love to be a Knight Radiant (Lightweaver) but I don't know if I'd choose to go to the Last Desolation era Roshar. If in the future somewhere, it is peaceful then I'll definitely go there

Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)
Honorless replied to killersquirrel59's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Granted, CDs crop up out of nowhere all over the world, they are all playing 90s music, incredibly sharp, whirring about at high speeds and putting children to sleep... permanently I wish for an umbrella that cannot be stolen -
theory Cultivation's magic and Adolin
Honorless replied to KandraAllomancer's topic in Stormlight Archive
I don't think that particular aspect of her power has to do anything with Cultivation's nature. Food > Investiture is similar to metal > Investiture, I think that's Realmatic mechanics Surgebinding and fabrial science are of both Honor and Cultivation but the systems themselves are of a Honor and Cultivation respectively. So, yup, she is not using Cultivation's magic system. Those abilities are still separate in my mind. Her Boon or Bane only interacts with her Radiancy by changing the source of her Investiture, allowing her to directly access Stormlight by metabolizing food but apparently cutting her off from stored Stormlight -
The Three Simple Rules seem to be opposite to the Intent of Ambition: fast movement, fire and blood

theory Cultivation's magic and Adolin
Honorless replied to KandraAllomancer's topic in Stormlight Archive
We do know that she converts calories to Stormlight (dang that girl got herself quite a deal!) but I don't think she has access to Cultivationlight (that sounds so Xianxia). I see Cultivation's magic kind of similar to Ruin's: pruning, cutting and grafting of the Spiritweb. I don't think that Lift would need Cultivationlight to power her (non Radiant) abilities. -
Why did Hoid tell Dalinar about Adonalsium
Honorless replied to SzethIsBadAsHell's topic in Stormlight Archive
Some of them are more Cosmere aware than others: the use of the title "Almighty" might imply that Taln is less Cosmere aware or possibly that he still chooses to believe in Honor -
We actually don't know how much info Jasnah has access to as of OB Her lack of info on the specifics of the Desolations is understandable. But she did come to know of the secrets of Aharitiem & the Recreance as well as other things, probably from Hoid/Wit Jasnah will probably have bigger questions than that for a Shard but if they sit down and have a discussion, that would be a great scene!

Why did Hoid tell Dalinar about Adonalsium
Honorless replied to SzethIsBadAsHell's topic in Stormlight Archive
Which of the secret societies on Roshar know of Adonalsium? The Ghostbloods - high chance (except local operatives) The Skybreakers - high chance (but all the members wouldn't be in on it) The Envisagers - unlikely The Sons of Honor - didn't previously, information distribution among members unknown, current status unknown The Veristitalians - unknown, possibly aware of the name and that it has some significance The Diagram - low probability The Worldsingers - aside from Hoid, unlikely The Aimians - unknown, some members probably aware given the sheer scale of their information network Other Worldhoppers - Khriss & Nazh (yes), 17th Shard (yes), Hoid/Wit (yes), Felt (unknown), Vasher/Zahel (unknown), Vivenna/Auzure (unknown), the Ire and its affiliates (yes), The other Heralds - some knew of Adonalsium, some didn't -
Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)
Honorless replied to killersquirrel59's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Granted, your entire alimentary canal, stomach, intestines, lungs, even your circulation system gets stuffed with them. I wish for the TARDIS -
Someone who has the power to always know the correct actions to perform in order to achieve any set goal. It doesn't matter how moral they were, things are gonna get messy...

Welcome to the Shard, @StevLaJer! It's good to officially meet you!

To add to that, I was rereading Edgedancer today and in the part where Lift encounters Arclo after the Skybreakers' attack, he calls himself "just another refugee..." while referencing themselves as friends to ancient Radiants. Plus, 'Aimian' is a term that apparently refers to two distinct groups: the Siah and the Dysian (the Sleepless) It seems Roshar became a refugee world for some reason. What happened to the homeworlds of these other groups?
-
Okay, see if this helps We know Rosharans, at least, will survive, in enough numbers to still preserve certain aspects of their culture. We know this from Sixth of the Dusk: We also know that Brandon wants conflux novels, he's talked about Surgebinding during those enough that I think it's safe to assume that the magic too would survive. After all, the Surges are a natural part of Roshar, so I think the planet itself also looks like it might survive. Plus, the backcover blurbs are apparently being written in-world by the Dysian Aimians
-
And how many times has Brandon simply replied "yes" to a long question basing itself on multiple postulations in an attempt to confirm certain theories which were RAFO'd before? The second part of that WoB actually says "something weird is happening there" and that what's happening isn't exactly Voidbinding.
