Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)

Granted, have some Nitrous oxide I wish for a cute puppy -
As long as he didn't have to utilize his own Investiture and instead corrupted Ambition's, I think he could have done it. He won't leave spare bits of his own Investiture behind, he wants remain unInvested and full-powered.

Homeworld of the Ones Above

Because Elantris is set thousands of years before the other books. People can learn, the Ire did, as did the lighthouse keeper -
Chapter 3 I don't need Breath, Rayas realized, well..., he corrected himself, it's not the priority right now. He looked down at his stump, somewhat aghast at his stupidity in his logic for coming to T'Telir. I should never have come here, he realized, they would never have healed me... The Returned are gods here, living in luxury, why would they give it up? Why would they choose to die again, for a mere peasant? But Returned are not treated like gods everywhere... In fact, outside of Hallandren... I just need money, Rayas murmured, to get out of this city... I need to get to Idris

Umm, what? Why are rats' skulls glowing on Threnody? Has it become the Cosmere's Chernobyl? This also makes glowpaste a bit suspicious. When I first read it, I took it to simply be bioluminescent or some kind of chemical reaction. But could it have been caused by Investiture? Is Threnody's flora and fauna using Investiture like First of the Sun?

Hello Brick Wall! You're in the 17th Shard! Welcome!

It's a really good theory actually @Lunamor! Yes, people from the Homeland discovered the Cognitive Shades when they discovered the other continent and named it Forests of Hell in fear. It doesn't disprove the theory though. The theory postulates that an experiment may have resulted in the creation of Shades, the theory does not delve into the nature of the Evil. We don't know if anything was going wrong in the Homeland before the discovery of the Forests, only that the Forescouts lived there before the Evil came to the Homeland. They may simply have been looking to make a new start, even in a dangerous place, their version of the New World, maybe they were even getting paid by the governments to get more information about the Shades. Nazh's statement to Kelsier was made in 'Mistborn Secret History', which is set before 'Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell', a lot could have happened during that period. Maybe someone was conducting experiments secretly on the undiscovered continent/island. The Ire did comment that powers from Threnody are trying to "join the stage". I guess Dust Brigade will answer these questions

Suinomancy from 'sus'? Why not Porcomancy from 'porcus'?

I always took it to mean during: "Good night, dear Urithiru. Good night, sweet Sibling. Good night, Radiants." A Words of Radiance epigraph mentions that "one of their Order [Bondsmith] was in continual accompaniment of Urithiru", which is where the Sibling fueling Urithiru theory comes from. We also know that the Nightwatcher's Valley cannot be affected by the Unmade, same was once true of Urithiru, and what could compare with a godspren? another godspren. The ancient Radiants began to leave because the Sibling was withdrawing (into the Cognitive?) and then Melishi did what he did to end the Final Desolation, imprisoning Ba-Ado-Mishram and creating the Parshmen, hurting the Sibling enough that they withdrew completely
-
To add: the name 'Braize' wasn't forgotten by the time of the books. We see a scene of Kaladin musing "Damnation, also called Braize..." in Words of Radiance chapter 32
-
The Unmade originally being some other kind of spren is a fairly popular theory, @Wintersu I don't know about the Sibling withdrawing in response to the Unmade's imprisonments though. They have been fighting against them as a Bondsmith spren for a long, long time. I think there was something else going on, but Melishi's imprisonment of Ba-Ado-Mishram probably was the straw that broke the camel's back and caused the Sibling to hibernate

Agreed. -
Yup, that's what happened in the GN And the GN is supposed to be the canonical version

Where did Voidspren come from? [Theory]
Honorless replied to Yolenlightweaver's topic in Stormlight Archive
Both Ulim and Yixli are noted to have surprisingly human mannerisms by Kaladin and Venli & the other Listeners respectively. @Yolenlightweaver, good theory! -
theory Odium is dead, long live Odium!
Honorless replied to KandraAllomancer's topic in Stormlight Archive
I like the idea very much, @KandraAllomancer! Well researched! I'd always thought that Rayse would be dealt with within the first five books, while the racial, socio-political situations would become the focus of back 5. Putting Jasnah, the queen of Alethkar and the Heralds, who participated in the long conflicts between the two main races and specifically held back their "gods", the Fused via the Oathpact definitely indicates more of a narrative shift, imo. -

Shinovar's plants are normal. They can't really survive on the rest of Roshar with Highstorms and lack of soil (only rocky terrain most of which formed from deposited crem) Shinovar probably would play an important role in Book 5, yes. -
Include: I) Part of Nalthis' Cognitive Realm J) Part of Endowment herself (just to be thorough) Brandon would probably slip away with "spare bit of Investiture" and say we gave him "a lot of wiggle room" @Nnatel Hole between the Realms is only possible through excess Investiture, not no Investiture Also, if there were no Investiture in a part of the Cognitive Realm, which can't really happen since it is Investiture that allows it to exist, it wouldn't be on a map of the Physical Realm
-
pretty sure we'd just get RAFO'd I haven't read this version though, so I don't know, I might be misinterpreting this. Apparently in this, Endowment had visited Scadrial (though quite a few Shards are supposed to have visited Scadrial after its creation by Preservation and Ruin) and had significant interactions with its Shards. If anyone has read this alt and knows, could you shed some light on this? 3) a planet in the Cognitive Realm - since the Cognitive Anomaly seems to have hydrostatic equilibrium or a spherical shape, it might be the Cognitive Shadow of a sister planet to Nalthis that no longer exists or somehow got pushed into the Cognitive Realm 4) Endowment's "weapon" - it has a very high chance of having to do something with Endowment. She is a Shard of Adonalsium. If Autonomy can be a star (or even partially a star) then Endowment can pull off something like this On the fence with these options: 1) Worldhopper outpost - unlikely to be a 17th Shard outpost. Maybe Ghostbloods since they have artifacts from First of the Sun and even Yolen... Could be an Ire outpost, since Khriss notes that "they have been at it for far longer than her" in Secret History

Honorless replied to Lunu’anaki's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Same book Brandon said he didn't get Hoid right and didn't want to colour our perception of his character with that transcript. He still plans to release it alongside the main Dragonsteel books, telling Hoid's backstory. As for Dragonsteel itself, Brandon says that he regrets not using the conflict of two competing ecosystems to its full narrative potential. So the importance of Fainlife is probably gonna increase in the published version rather than decrease. -

People usually refer to the whole art of designing a fantasy world as worldbuilding. Moving specific independent parts of it definitely counts as such. As for the reason, that would mean I'll be spoiling a few things. You would be better off hunting for WoBs and the available chapters but if you want a quick version, then click to the spoiler thread below: -
Atium symbol is pretty good too, I always thought it looked like a person dabbing Heresy! Dogs are cuter and nicer! Cats are often jerks!

I'm for the planet in the Cognitive Realm theory. That bypasses the orbital mechanics problem while still accounting for the object's apparent shape. If Shards can be shoved into the Cognitive Realm then planets are small game. Not a fan of the Silverlight theory. Khriss and Nazh would have just marked it as Silverlight. Why would they put themselves so near a Shard anyway? When all they want to do is observe things unimpeded. Also judging from Edgli's letter, she is not particularly fond of worldhoppers.
