Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)
Honorless replied to killersquirrel59's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Granted, your city is taken over by religious extremists who close most schools for "corrupting the youth". Instead of homework, you get Bible studies. I wish for a time-turner -
Then include your reasoning with your statement Or in this case, make that statement in the first place May I point out that you wrote one word then quoted a response by someone else on the same thread I trust you've seen my response to the text you chose to quote and I wouldn't have to re-quote it

Vote in the next Bondsmith election!
Honorless replied to King Aragorn of Gondor's topic in Stormlight Archive
While I do agree with you regarding Navani's role, I should point out that she was the creator of the painrial, pain knife and a time-piece fabrial. She said she tested the experimental versions of the pain knife on herself to perfect it. -
Division plus Abrasion... yes, I can see that happening Lightweavers also seem to have a knack for inspiring people to transform into better versions of themselves

I would also include the Iriali as refugees to Roshar if their belief of the One and the Long Trail is any indication.
-
Ah, yes I would never have seen Elegy's response otherwise

It's only the Americans and the Canadians who say 'Aluminum' anyway We don't know any present-day Stonewards, if you're not counting their patron Herald Taln Hmm, nice theory about copper compounding

Well, I've always suspected that futuresight might be a power of the Truthwatchers that was simply kept secret due to the associations with Odium. I've thought of the power as resulting from the Spiritual expression of their Surges: Illumination of Progression . Truthwatchers do see something. There was one instance in the Urithiru gem archive, where an emerald had the recording "I foresaw this". The idea that his futuresight is a Voidbinding power comes from one WoB, where Brandon points to the Voidbinding chart when asked what's going on with Renarin's visions. Following that Brandon says that he'll RAFO questions on whether Renarin is Voidbinding, though he does say that his visions aren't a normal expression of Surgebinding, though that might refer to how his visions manifest, but I'm not so sure about that. We do know that access to the Spiritual Realm grants access to Fortune. So maybe post-Honor's death Bondsmith plus Truthwatcher might result in a futuresight power more definitively.

If what you theorized is true then wow I don't like Bavadin anymore! Thanks, @Elegy! I'm getting really curious about Shifting Colours now, since humans seem to be part of the magical ecology, rather than being muggle equivalent. Well, the magic on Dayside is also part of the flora: the lichen on the Sands As for the use of plural, he could be referring to Trell. I think that character is only in the graphic novel version though Please keep spoilers light, I haven't completed the White Sand prose yet! I do have a few contentions with these though. As you noted, the WoB isn't clear. Brandon is saying that the Sand Lord, the God of the Kerzta is Autonomy. The being claiming to be the Sand Lord that appeared before Elorin is not necessarily the same entity. After all, we do have examples of such subterfuge, like when Ruin pretended to be the Mist Spirit in Mistborn era 1, and Brandon has expressed willingness to include such in his plot ("the man who calls himself Taln") - this one's resolved, don't worry, in case anyone reading this just did a spit-take I always wondered if the being Elorin saw wasn't just a rogue Sand Master. We do know that many Daysiders have some aptitude for Sand Mastery, even though they have to be taught in order to be able to use it. Meaning that Sand Masters not belonging to the Diem is a possibility. All that we saw of that entity, in Elorin's recounting of the encounter, was covered in Sand after all (if it wasn't made entirely of Sand) I'm mostly on the side of the Sand Lord being an Avatar of Autonomy though, rather than something more convoluted happening there. I still think that Skathan being an Avatar is unlikely. It seems more likely that he's someone who has discovered how to unlock a more powerful facet of the magic present there

There's something about SEL or is there ?

"Leaking from the Dor" is not how I would put it, rather that region-locked due to the nature of the Cognitive Realm. Yes to the rest of it- 16 replies

Given what we know of Skathan, he seems to be violating the Intent of Autonomy.

He doesn't strike me as capable of being an Edgedancer, tbh. His sabotage of Wax & Steris' marriage, his response when Marasi said she's gotten over Wax, his attitude towards Steris, his unrelenting pursuit of Ranette... Maybe he could be a Willshaper, he is adventurous and temperamental but he doesn't strike me as a 'builder'. He has enough lies to attract a Cryptic and some Lightweaving complimentary skills Most likely, he'll make a Dustbringer. He is interested in what makes a person tick, he is brave and loyal. Maybe he could join Lopen in being a Windrunner. He is a protector.

Is that so? I remember you theorizing that Skathan was an Avatar of Autonomy -

To answer your question, and add to my previous observation: There is nothing holding your arguments together. You continuously contradict yourself. The only thing linking your arguments together is the fact that they are made to oppose whatever is put forth by your 'opponent'. Your arguments are tenuous and don't even defend a central theme. You have consistently refused to take a stance in your discussions, except in opposition to your 'opponent'. -

That is not Ad Hominem. The traveller is not attacking you for holding your viewpoint but pointing out the contradictory elements of your argument. At best, you can argue that you are discussing both sides of the argument, critiquing them but you have not put forward your own hypothesis either. You have broken more rules of formal debate than I can count at this point. Such... Errorgance You have only put forward contradictory statements at all, in fact, to any and all hypothesis- whether made by yourself or by others. Even when someone conceded their point, you then contradicted that as well. And yet you tell The traveller to "keep the established beliefs". Your arguments here are based on your perspective of the real world, not evidences taken from the book or the author himself, and that perspective of yours is being challenged. If you find that galling, please just excuse yourself. -
What would compounding copper even do?

There's something about SEL or is there ?
Honorless replied to Friendshipspren's topic in Cosmere Discussion
It is working. Odium didn't want someone to take up the two Shards, done. Odium didn't want, what would come to be known as the Dor, to itself to gain sentience, done. What is happening is something else entirely but not likely to result in an entity able to take Odium on. Either by the nation interpretation or the Shardworld interpretation since it would still be Physically locked in the Selish system, cut off from the Spiritual Realm.- 16 replies

I'm afraid I don't see the disagreement then. This is exactly what I said. The Dor plan has worked so far, so what if there were better methods, as long as it works- 16 replies

First Worldbringers on Scadrial then Worldsingers on Roshar, Hoid sure is going places! So, yeah that could be Hoid's work telling people of the One. But then again the Iriali sound like they migrated to Roshar too, like the Ashynites did. -
Don't be, @asmodeus You did well in expressing yourself You held your own You were respectful of others You de-escalated where necessary and remained calm even when others came across as a bit snippy

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think you thought that I'm referring to the medallions. I said that Nicrosil allows non Ferrings or non Full Feruchemists to access Feruchemy, which your provided instance supports. Edit: Ohhhh, do you mean that I didn't include Allomancy? Yeah, I overlooked mentioning that, thanks!

That is my favourite book too! The nature of souls that book displayed intrigued me much more than the usual abstractions. I'm not a fan of Hoid or Nightblood, tbh. Hoid reads like a fanfiction self insert character so far. Though it does look like with OB that his role will expand. Nightblood is just going to be a disaster. i can already see it happening. My favourite characters are Shai, Leras, Vin & Elend.
