  1. But Kelsier is a CS and during secret history he was not visible. I could also say splinter but Returned are splinters. I thought spren might make more sense. Ugh, more problems with Cosmere terminologies! Just type out the complete explanation of what entities you're referring to then, I guess. I usually do.
  2. Ah, see? This is why I keep telling you to elaborate! This makes much more sense Yup, they've taken info on all the other systems primarily from the CR, don't see why or how this time would be any different. Yes, a giant creature, like from Star Wars, just submerging and reemerging from the Cognitive in the middle of the emptiness of space. Following behind Nalthis, kind of like the ancient Nordic myths of the wolves that chased the sun and the moon. That's an anomaly, right there, all right.
  3. Why would Khriss and Nazh mark a giant Splinter (spren is a Roshar-specific term) that they encountered on the Cognitive Realm on the orbit of Nalthis in a Physical map of the system?
  4. Karger, what exactly are you trying to say? I never said you can't observe the the Physical from the Cognitive. I have read Arcanum Unbounded too. Actually, you should just use Cognitive Shadows and Splinters. They are the more wider, technical terms.
  5. Then take it up with Peter or Isaac. This is a chart of the Physical Realm. I don't know any more than anyone else here as to why a Cognitive object would manifest on the Physical, such a large one at that. Wait a minute... that alone qualifies it as a Cognitive Anomaly There are the Shades on Threnody, alongside spren you should also count seons and skaze as Cognitive entities manifesting on the Physical.
  6. The chart is Physical. Hmm, we don't know enough about the Cognitive Realm to make that statement actually. People have theorized before that if travel through the Cognitive Realm is easier because uninhabited, un-thought of and unknown distances shrink, then perhaps when people become aware of the vastness of space, the Cognitive Realm will also change to reflect this. So, distances in the Cognitive Realm might be more in flux than they appear, just like standing on a globe hurling through space.
  7. Actually, it seems he's transplanting plot elements and characters more often than the worldbuilding or magic system, which he considers integral to the plot. We've already seen that with Gaz and Bridge 4, Decay > Ruin and D'na > Siri, Vivenna, Sarene; apparently we're going to meet another character originally (unless he meant as a Worldhopper) from stories (Aether of Night) in Nightblood The magics are the most canon: including some form of Lightweaving, oh, and I almost forgot... Dragons
  8. I started reading when I my age was in single digits, so answering favs is a bit hard, but some good works from the genre that have stayed with me are: His Dark Materials, The Name of the Wind, most of China Miéville, The Steel Remains, Dune, Nightfall, Sleeping Gods, The Descent... A lot of the books that I read when I was young are still dear to me: Darren Shan, Predator Cities, Alex Vera, Skulduggery Pleasant, Animorphs, Here Lies Arthur, Artemis Fowl, Rick Riordan...
  9. @Yvainnie, They're semi-canonical. Some of the ideas are canon, others might be modified or cannibalized for other books, like he did with the Shattered Plains and the Bridgeruns
  10. To add to 3): so many Elantrians must've chosen the Pool by this time. The Pool, which we know, is actually Devotion's Perpendicularity. So there must be many Elantrian worldhoppers by this point, like the lighthouse keeper/Hoed from before the Reod. I previously noted that the Ire seem to have a lot of Realmatic knowledge but seemingly no desire to help Sel flourish. I didn't consider these other Elantrians who might have grown weary of the world and chosen the Pool or otherwise thrown into the Pool. Yup, Sel is also a good candidate for the Ones Above.
  11. The Cognitive Anomaly seems spherical, what if it is the Cognitive Shadow of a sister planet to Nalthis that no longer exists? Or maybe it somehow got pushed into the Cognitive Realm? If Shards can be shoved into the Cognitive, what are mere planets?
  12. Can't wait to see the world of Mirandus!
  13. I feel that the reason for Adonalsium's Shattering can be seen in Dragonsteel & Liar of Partinel chapters that Brandon released on his site As Khriss speculates, some of them may have thought it was the only option left to them...
  14. Thanks, @FirstSelector! These Shards have too many secret weapons: First, we have Honor's Dawnshards Second, we might have Preservation's weapon Third, Odium's edge against other Shards
  15. But why would Silverlight be placed so close to Nalthis? Edgli doesn't seem to like incursions by worldhoppers (though that might just be Hoid) I think Silverlight, as a worldhopper city in the Cognitive, would be either placed far away from any Physical place or near a nexus, like Roshar apparently is
  16. Here's what we know: He said Wax & Wayne 4 would be after Stormlight 4 or 5, after that he's planning to alternate between Mistborn era 3 and Elantris sequels. He's also planning to put Warbreaker sequel (tentatively titled Nightblood) during that period, then jumping to Stormlight back five. He also intends for the Threnody novel, tentatively titled Dust Brigade to come out during this time. And various Stormlight novellas: The Silence Divine, Wandersail (featuring Rysn), Rock novella, Lopen novella (king of Alethkar for a few minutes) I'm not sure how serious he was about the latter... Plus, an Aimia novella, which may have been scrapped for Kaza's interlude or cannibalized into Sixth of the Dusk. Aether of Night, White Sand Darkside Graphic Novels and Silverlight novella are also planned for around this time. He also has some ideas for a First of the Sun novel or novella that will be a sequel to Sixth of the Dusk, he has also stated he has ideas for a Emperor's Soul sequel. After that it's Dragonsteel and Mistborn era 4.
  17. Definitely Mistborn era 1 books! If I had to pick just one then Final Empire. So, so your favourite book among all the ones that you've read is the Final Empire... But what is/are your favourite book(s), not counting Brandon Sanderson's works? Other authors, I mean
  18. I don't remember anything like that from the GN, though it has been a while since I've opened the first two parts
  19. That's dark, Karger But from their behaviour, I don't think they're that stupid, some of them anyway (they have sub-species). It might be a possibility though...
  20. Nothing can be truly stationary in space, maybe it maintains the same relative distance to Nalthis while orbiting, or at least that's what it looks like on the chart. Things it probably isn't: 1) a dragon flying through the Cognitive Realm leisurely behind her planet (assuming Edgli is a Dragon) Endowment is Invested on Nalthis, her Perpendicularity is also located there. A Shard probably isn't a Cognitive Anomaly, Devotion and Dominion would be better candidates for being called Cognitive Anomalies on their planet Sel's subastral 2) Yolen - saw this as one of the options on the news thread, seems rather unlikely since Yolen is supposed to be hidden and Shards were supposed to leave it alone 3) Obrodai - Obrodai is supposed to be one of Autonomy's and possibly a watery planet going by the OB epigraph. Got this one out of the way, just in case 4) Silverlight - why would it be considered an anomaly by Khriss and Nazh? They would just mark it as Silverlight. Also why would Silverlight be so close to a major Shardworld and this one in particular? 5) Dawnshard - also saw this as one of the options on the news thread. The Dawnshards seem to be Honor's so why would they be in the Nalthis system, when Endowment didn't seem to care much for Roshar? Things it might be: 1) Nalthis's Cognitive Realm. But how would that even happen? Khriss and Nazh probably would know what it was (but then again, they just call it "Cognitive Anomaly" not "Unknown Cognitive Anomaly". It might simply be anomalous, as in Khriss & Nazh know what it is but still consider it an anomaly. Anomaly is defined as something that deviates from what is standard, normal, or expected). This would also raise some interesting questions about how the Five Scholars and Vivenna went to Roshar, and about the Expanse of Vibrance 2) Vax - all we know is that it is a place. And Ati did ask "Vax?" while in the Cognitive Realm plus there's this WoB on a draft of Mistborn era 1: I haven't read this version though, so I don't know, I might be misinterpreting this. Apparently in this, Endowment had visited Scadrial (though quite a few Shards are supposed to have visited Scadrial after its creation by Preservation and Ruin) and had significant interactions with its Shards. If anyone has read this alt and knows, could you shed some light on this? 3) a planet in the Cognitive Realm - since the Cognitive Anomaly seems to have hydrostatic equilibrium or a spherical shape, it might be the Cognitive Shadow of a sister planet to Nalthis that no longer exists or somehow got pushed into the Cognitive Realm 4) Endowment's "weapon" - it has a very high chance of having to do something with Endowment. She is a Shard of Adonalsium. If Autonomy can be a star (or even partially a star) then Endowment can pull off something like this On the fence with these options: 1) Worldhopper outpost - unlikely to be a 17th Shard outpost. Maybe Ghostbloods since they have artifacts from First of the Sun and even Yolen... Could be an Ire outpost, since Khriss notes that "they have been at it for far longer than her" in Secret History
  21. Fiiiiiiiiinnnaaaaaaaaalllllyyyyyyyyyy! THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH INKY!!! "Cognitive Anomaly"? Vax... is that you? Edit: in case the image doesn't load, here's a non-embedded link to Isaac Stewart's original post: https://www.instagram.com/p/B4lESiojZBL/ you can also find the image here:
  22. @The Sovereign, 1. How do you pronounce the Rosharan names? 2. If you had to kill a Cosmere protagonist, who would you kill? 3. If you had to kiss a Cosmere protagonist, who would you kiss? 4. If you had to loose one tooth, which one would you choose? 5. Favourite Daedric Prince?
  23. Nah, those aren't horrible mistakes Brandon has said you can pronounce them however you want I pronounce Kaladin as Kaa-laa-din I pronounce Kholin with a guttural 'kh' sound I pronounce all Thaylen words in a what-you-see-is-what-you-get manner, just because I can (Ree-sn, k-ma-kl, baa-bsk) Kelsier, I pronounce with a really soft r Vin, I refuse to pronounce that in French, she will always be Veen Szeth, I pronounce a bit strangely, I start with a sibilant hiss then say 'zeth' I pronounce spren as shpren, 'spren' just didn't sound as good
  24. 363. Never pick a fight with these kinds of characters: old men, disabled men, women in impractical high heels, kids. They will invariably turn out to be the most dangerous one among their peers. Just pick the big brute, there's a good chance he's very stupid.
