  1. We can infer that Odium has had magic associated with him on other Shardworlds from this WoB As well as the fact that Brandon always talks about him as not leaving behind any of his Investiture. A Shard's presence does naturally result in a way to access their Investiture by the inhabitants of their Shardworld. We have a confirmation that he didn't leave any of his Investiture on Sel So yeah, Svrakiss could have been something like the Fused on Roshar, that were fuelled by him and are now only myths since he left. As for the situation on Threnody, the Shades do seem to discourage Ambition: moving fast, starting a fire or drawing blood, making their actions seem contrary to the Intent of the Shard whose Investiture permeates them. I can definitely see links between the three.

  3. I wish for a very cute pet
  4. I do like that idea
  5. That may be the best thing I've ever seen anyone put up as their location

  6. I would say that it would make Hemalurgy impossible. Shardblade does cut the soul itself, so a Hemalurgic spike through a limb affected by being severed from the soul of the main body wouldn't be able to steal anything.
  7. Agreed with Karg and Cal. As for using Cohesion on oneself, wouldn't that just kill the Radiant? It sounds cool as a superhero power but changing the state of matter of one's body to gaseous sounds like a bad idea without a lot more being included in the surge, definitely a possibility but probably not in this magic system. As for smokeform it seems smokeform might be made of a smoke-like substance from one of the Unmade
  8. Shallan is difficult to gauge though, due to her re swearing her Ideals and her rather finicky memory. Let's wait till other characters get their Shardplate. Like Cal said, the Radiants probably don't get plate automatically upon swearing a certain level of Ideal. Also, again agreed with Cal, there are definitely secondary spren to each Order but they shouldn't be what forms the plate itself, otherwise there would've been some grumbling from the spren about plates too as well as some reaction from the plates, like the screaming from swords. I know they aren't as intelligent as bond-capable spren but still. If plates are made of multiple secondary spren, they would be bonded, in some manner, we haven't seen any indications of this yet. What Adolin saw around Jasnah in Thaylen City, if it was her de-summoning her plate then it definitely doesn't appear to be made of spren, and I do believe that what we he momentarily saw was her Shardplate. Plus, I think the secondary spren are simply connected to their respective Surges, Kaladin got Windspren while using Adhesion for manipulating pressure and vacuum to create a calm in the storm, Dalinar got Gloryspren while using spiritual Adhesion on the Realms. They also seem to appear when a Radiant is close to speaking a higher Ideal: fourth for Kaladin, third for Dalinar. They might be involved with Shardplate but I don't think Shardplates are made of these spren. Let's talk about the secondary spren themselves then: Windspren for Windrunners, Gloryspren for Bondsmiths, Lifespren for Truthwatchers, Creationspren for Lightweavers, what do you think are the secondary spren of each Order?
  9. Welcome to the Shard, @ProgrammerA10! *winces* Arguing Feruchemy is a lost cause, trust me
  10. Hmm, that is true, there is no accompanying picture there. Only @The Sovereign can confirm that. There are these WoBs though: not an outright denial so far, so I can hold out hope for a meeting
  11. HIHIHAHAHAHAHA!

      Ah betrayal !!!

Only to be expected of creatures who spurn Jaddeth's light.

    3. Friendshipspren

      Friendshipspren

U heretics , huh. I'm an unbeliever myself. Yet I still believe in Jaddeth. So can u . Does that make any sense ?

    4. Aon Tia

      Aon Tia

hmm.. faith within the empire is not as strong as they say then.. interesting..

  12. No confirmations so far, afaik. Only the two corroborating statements of a white-haired man smiling and jumping into the maw of a Marabethian Greatshell as witnessed by Lift and Wit's statement. The dude is crazy enough to do it, it's confirmation enough for me.
  13. Not what I was talking about, @Toaster Retribution. The WoB means that there is a Herald within Taravangian's group, this is Battar. And that he has encountered multiple Heralds, which would also include Nale, Kalak, even Jezrien. I meant there are two Heralds in the city of Kharbranth as per WoB: Pailiah was in the Palanaeum, and the Ardent/Silent Gatherer Dova is actually Battar.
  14. Well, Dalinar, Lift and Renarin are some canon examples of weird, though they don't fit your criteria exactly, with a dead god's shadow, a boon & a bane, and a corrupted spren. Illumination seems to be a weird Surge with a Spiritual aspect, a proclivity for a very hyperspecialized use as illusions as Lightweaving but being in essence the manipulation of waveforms. Same with Adhesion, as a Spiritual aspect melding with Gravitation for the leading, protective Windrunners and acting as Connection for Bondsmiths, used for bindings, but the method of binding in the Physical means certain physics hacks making it the Surge of pressure and vacuum. All Surges will turn out to be weird soon enough. But for specific weirdness, I've always wondered if one could use Abrasion on things other than oneself. Keep in mind, I think that Lift has only been using this Surge in one direction: to reduce friction, rather than increase it, which given the Surge's name and the Shard whose system it belongs to, as friction can be used for binding things, I think is quite possible. I also think she could use it on other surfaces, like the Lashings and voilà ! Fire. Of course, in this case I'm specifically thinking of Dustbringers' use of Abrasion, alongside Division, which is stated to be the severence of molecular bonds. There's a lot of chemical explosion potential here, I like it. Oh, and I've changed camp about the possibility of aging via Progression. Why? Because recently I started thinking about Lift's Boon, which was about her age, so maybe her wish wasn't granted as obliquely (still indirectly but not so far as to theorize about her phrasing of it "herself not changing..."). So she got access to the Surge which could age or de-age by being granted a Nahel Bond - tinfoil, I know but it's what made me reconsider. Healing, or Regrowth is an aspect of the Surge of Progression. I didn't consider aging via Progression a possibility because of how most healing in the Cosmere is supposed to work: by checking your Spiritual Identity and applying this ideal state onto your Physical self. Renarin's healing of Adolin seemed to showcase this to some aspect, but that might just be because the Surges are used a bit differently between the Orders. There should be some component in the Spiritual Realm which also measures growth and decay, i.e. aging. I think it's possible.
  15. Okay, time's up! The answer is: Aradan Yomen Does this mean I get to conduct the next one as well?
  16. Then it comes down to narrative preference. I was disputing the idea of the God Beyond = Capital G-God being a foregone conclusion via the WoBs. As for Dalinar, I have stated elsewhere that there is a possibility of it being another Shard (other characters who have encountered or felt the influence of other Shards have attributed similar divine feelings: Preservation, Endowment, Odium, Ruin, Autonomy in WS prose) or some Realmatic mechanism (of Adonalsium or of Honor). I'd just also considered the possibility of it being exactly what Dalinar assumed it was: "God" and linked it with the one term that happened to be floating around for describing the same thing.
  17. Those are from two different WoBs, the first one discussing the existence of god and the afterlife, and the second one discussing the emergence of an idea of a god greater than the Shards. The idea is starting to creep into multiple Shardworlds, matching Khriss' description of "subtle powers", possibly also Dalinar's "warmth". The other WoBs also seem to suggest narrative importance.
  18. I would have continued to consider this as a greater possibility until Oathbringer (Dalinar's Nohadon vision and mysterious warmth). I think there's far too many indications that the God Beyond is an entity, though also quite likely to be another Shard or some sort of Realmatic mechanism much more than another Adonalsium-lite creature. Again, my point isn't that it can't fit in the narrative as a theological argument of a greater God, just that the figure of the God Beyond has never been explicitly linked to that concept by any WoB. The God Beyond is RAFO, yes, but not stated to be beyond the scope of the narrative or an open question, because that WoB is a referencing the question of the existence of God, not necessarily the in-world 'God Beyond'.
  19. And once again I'd point out that the God Beyond has never been connected to the idea of a capital G-God, afaik. The only connecting point is that he was mentioning the idea of the Beyond and existence of God in the same line, in which he was using 'Beyond' not just as the in-story concept but as the idea of something existing beyond death irl. God Beyond seems to have been used too many times as a plot element: as "the Unknown God" of the MaiPon, The God Beyond of Threnody, known under the same name to various other characters such as Wayne, referred to by Khriss as "subtle powers being manifest"
  20. Aw, no more guesses? This has been going for a day, I'll reveal the answer in 3 hours if no one guesses correctly
  21. Congratulations! You're the fourth one ever to get that rank!

  22. Roshar is the only one directly confirmed. But Adonalsium is generally considered to be the creator of the Cosmere
  23. Thanks Oh, looks like you accidentally double-posted this. Just go to the top of the other page, there should be a yellow button 'Moderate' there, click it then click 'Hide' from the drop-down menu, then state a reason for deleting the thread "accidentally double posted", and you're good to go!
  24. We don't know if he made the Cosmere ex nihilo but he definitely did design and gave form to most of the stellar systems there, minus Scadrial which was created by Preservation and Ruin.
