  1. While crude as it is currently. I'm also excited because Hemalurgy to me seems on par with AonDor in the level of complexity it could potentially reach
  2. I thought each of the black spheres was a sealed Unmade.
  3. Battlefield also is an important consideration. In an open field the Mistborn would have a very challenging time of things. In a city, with plenty of items to Push and Pull from various angles, I drastically improves a Mistborn's combat options
  4. This is really the best response on here. It encapsulates Brandon's own words on it where he says it depends on the situation and Order. Not "Radiants win"
  5. Brandon has straight up said it only takes a couple shots to break Plate
  6. Slings flung by Parshendi could crack Plate. No, I don't think I'm underestimating it. My apologies, I thought the WoB I was thinking of mentioned Vin. It mentions an Atium misting. Meaning Brandon thinks that a Misting alone could beat Kaladin with Kaladin winning only if he exhausted their Atium. A Mistborn would have to be especially stupid to let it just burn while the Radiant was out of reach for the way Kaladin could win
  7. Forcing the Radiant to use up all their Stormlight is a valid combat tactic. It's called a battle of attrition. Powerful hits can also do it. Most strikes we've seen against Plate that weren't Blades that they last against for long periods have been piercing/ weapons. Brandon has consistently written strong bludgeoning hits have cracked Plate. Just a matter of point, Brandon has said Vin with Atium would win against a 3rd Ideal Kaladin. This strongly implies almost any fight between a 3rd Ideal Radiant and a Mistborn with Atium will fall in the Mistborn's favor. I bring this up for all the people underplaying just how much of an advantage Atium gives
  8. Oathbringer also implies that no Bondsmith before Dalinar could open a Perpendicularity like he does. Maybe this has to do with Honor being dead and not holding them back anymore. I think there are going to be more new uses that even the Fused won't be prepared for. A Bondsmith unchained as you put it might be comparable to a Fullborn in power. I personally think they are able to do their feats because their Spren are particularly powerful Splinters that allow them to do more with the Cognitive and Spiritual parts of their Surges
  9. Again, Renarin has Progression which lets him heal more quickly. Also, rereading that scene, Renarin doesn't get fully crushed. He cuts away at the hand as it is coming down. And a Mistborn's entire fighting style is centered around avoiding hits and delivering critical blows. Between Electrum and Atium, that's more than possible. Even without, it should be quite possible for a Mistborn to avoid. Especially if their is sufficient metal on the battlefield to Push off of and Pewter giving them quicker reflexes than the Radiant. Point of reference. Chromium isn't instant but it's fast enough that it only would take a couple of seconds. Atium would allow the Mistborn to dodge any attack from the Radiant in those couple of seconds. Also, if a Mistborn has a gun, they would very quick burn through the Radiant's Stormlight as a gun only needs like two shots to break Plate. This statement is blatantly untrue. We have repeatedly seen Atium easily bypass pretty much any offense or defense Do the Radiants have a huge advantage advantage? Very much so. Are they unstoppable juggernauts, not even close. I'd wager 7-9 fights out of 10 a Radiant would win, but they wouldn't win every fight. And if we did give a Mistborn all 16 metals, Atium, and a gun I would argue it would be about 50/50 because guns are that much of a leveling factor
  10. Also Renarin has Progression and just because he got flattened doesn't mean his head got injured. I could acknowledge that makes sense. But someone who's good at working in a group doesn't always translate to good one on one abilities It still gives them the ability to break Plate Way of Kings proves that Plate and Blade aren't as insurmountable as you claim Radiants aren't efficient enough with Investiture for that. Pretty much every battle they have had unless they have had a particular large source of Stormlight, Radiants have burned through their Stormlight very quickly. This would be even worse if the Mistborn has Chromium. It's why I think Bondsmiths who can open Perpendicularity are the only truly unstoppable Radiants for a Mistborn That epigraph easily could be enterprited as they shared personality and mindset. Not skills As @Raven Wilder pointed out, Shardplate always cracks first. After it has cracked it loses a lot of integrity, which admittedly an be mitigated with healing the Plate but that drains Stormlight.
  11. It isn't as simple as that, having their brain smashed in would stop a Radiant. Merely pulling out an arrow caused Shallan to black out and used pretty much all of her Stormlight to heal from. That was after literal hours of fighting, they died because they were too exhausted from the non-stop slaughter they were doing. Where is your logic in this? A hammer with sufficient enough mass to break Plate can be lifted by two men, Pewter gives the Allomancer greater strength than that.
  12. That's quite an underestimation of Rashek you just did. Even with what we saw in RoW, what we've seen Rashek do, and what we saw from the Bands, Rashek would crush Ishar still. Remember, Rashek's normal Allomancy was as strong or even stronger than Vin with Duralumin. Combine that with his Compounding and there is nothing we have seen short of a Shard or Nightblood that actually comes close to Rashek.
  13. Each of the Shard's seem to embody more than just what their Intent implies. Honor - bonds, oaths, order, things working the way they should, etc Preservation - stasis, stability, etc Ruin - destruction, entropy, change, etc. Whimsey might represent randomness or something like that
  14. That is possible, though I do believe it was. One of the lines says that he is looking for someone who can act on his behalf, which is likely him planning for Wax. As Part 1 of Stormlight is set 5-10 years before Wax & Wayne it is likely that this letter was during or before Rhythm of War.
  15. My two cents. One, we absolutely cannot have any scenarios of infinite sources of Investiture. It would always be a stalemate. Radiant would always heal and Atium would almost assure that the Radiant couldn't touch the Mistborn. After the course of RoW. As I have always believed, the Radiants do have the advantage and more often than not would win against a Mistborn. However, I still think that the fight wouldn't be too one sided. The number one issue with Radiants still persists even after this book, they are far less Investiture efficient than Mistborn. This is somewhat mitigated by the spheres being sewn into their clothing though. It still takes relatively short time for a Radiant to burn through all of their Stormlight in a fight. We still don't know how much Stormlight, if any, Plate goes through. I does seem to use very little if any though as Jasnah's battle would indicate outside of repairing itself. This is a huge advantage for the Radiant as it would be very difficult for a Mistborn to damage. However, also from Jasnah's battle, living Plate doesn't seem any more durable than dead Plate so the same arguments still apply for how a Mistborn can damage the Plate, therefore drain a Radiant's Stormlight stores. What this book showed me though, is that without Plate, a Radiant actually has a potentially worse chance against a Mistborn than we previously believed. Lezian's grapple maneuver very nearly killed Kaladin who is more or less the peak of Radiant combat skill (not counting crazy outliers like the Heralds). A Mistborn with their greater strength from Pewter could potentially do the same. At this point, though I still believe it is an ability past Bondsmiths before Dalinar weren't capable of, I think a Bondsmith with the ability to open a Perpendicularity is truly the only Radiant who a Mistborn's chance of beating is nigh impossible.
  16. I don't think it truly gets destroyed, merely converted. Brandon describes Investiture as an extra to matter and energy, and when matter and antimatter touch, the matter is converted to energy. This is likely what happens to Investiture as well. He's mentioned that Investiture can't be created or destroyed, just like matter and energy.
  17. Actually Rayse's Cognitive Shadow was eaten by Nightblood. He's gone for good
  18. Maybe that's what El is. Even accounting for his metal plating his physical description was different from any of the other Fused we know of. Or he could be Tension, but the almost demonic appearance he's described as having seem likely he'll have a destructive ability.
  19. Perhaps its properties are something that would be hard to test. What if silver's property is cleansing corrupted Investiture? That would explain why no one other that the Trenodites have figured out what it does. It's something that would be difficult to test with Fabrials (at least until they get the Fabrials with Voidspren) and Scadrial would have very little context with corrupted Investiture. That's just one possibility I can think of
  20. While a Cultivation/Odium team up is possible, I find it unlikely. I can't think of any plausible reason that Cultivation would target Harmony. I could see Todium doing it but I doubt it with the time frame we are given. The Set almost assuredly existed before Odium would be able to be free regardless of Vessel. Autonomy would be the most likely suspect by default.
  21. Because she's allied with Odium before to some extent. Also, Odium being bound infringes on Odium's autonomy which is something that Autonomy's Intent might take issue with.
  22. Or maybe she's part of the Set. The organization existed before W&W and Stormlight takes place at most a decade before W&W. Suit was only a middle manager, we don't know how Cosmere aware the higher ups are. And if Trell really is Autonomy, it wouldn't be surprising for her to send an agent to help free Odium
  23. Nale has seven millennia of combat and leadership experience and has been a 5th Ideal Radiant for who knows how long. I would say it's a safe bet that he is the most dangerous Surgebinder on Roshar. He most likely was between Ishar and Taln in combat ability as well and I'd wager closer to Taln than Ishar. He's also very single minded in what he does, this might be a boon or a bane depending on the circumstances though.
  24. I think it's because he closely tied his slavery with his failure to to protect his brother and squad. They were a constant reminder of the failures that were preventing him from saying the 4th Ideal and once he let go and accepted that he can't protect everyone they didn't hold so fast on to him anymore. He was finally free so to speak
