The only limit we are pretty sure of with storing a trait is that you can't fully store any given trait. It seems you need to have some positive amount still even while storing. Theoretically you can store heat to avoid being burned or cooked alive.

You just know it would be Awakened with a Command to make it move with a dramatic flair

The Spike Rashek probably needed the most in my opinion was a Zinc Spike for emotional fortitude. I'd agree that Kelsier could be called the Master of the Metallic Arts. I think he actually understood Hemalurgy better than TLR even, considering he figured out how to use it to bring himself back to life.

I've got to agree with F-Duralumin. Being able to easily bypass language barriers alone is extraordinarily useful

If you ignore Compounding, there are a number of good same metal synergies that exist. So lets for a second imagine that these Twinborn didn't know about Compounding There are numerous Tin threads, so no real need to go into that Double Pewter, burning while tapping Strength would allow for a great deal of dexterity and additional power even while Hulked out. Double Iron, you would be the best Allomantic anchor and I'm sure the manipulation of Weight would let you do some fun trajectory alteration Double Zinc, increasing your mental speeds would probably be very helpful Rioting Just some quick examples. For separate metals. Allomantic Steel would go fantastic with Feruchemical Zinc. The increased mental speed would be able to keep track of every line I'm sure, and plan out how best to use them all. A-Cadmium would work good with F-Steel. If you have a large number of people you want to disable, throw up a Cadmium Bubble, tap Steel and you have them disabled while putting yourself at minimum risk. Especially if you are disabling while there are civilians still around.

[Theory] a-Copper and a-Bronze are not "Cognitive"
StanLemon replied to Cocoa's topic in Cosmere Discussion
An often forgotten description of A-Copper is the first time Vin burns the metal she feels vibrations inside her. -
Yup, he's the spymaster who scouts out Club's shop and reports back to Elend that it is actually a thieving crew base. For Dalinar he is most prominent in the flashback in Oathbringer when they discuss the Nightwatcher and how she doesn't like "foreigners" and that he's a little more foreign than Dalinar

Are Bio-Chromatic Breaths supireor to Copperminds?
StanLemon replied to Trusk'our's question in Cosmere Q&A
That's a good question. We don't really know how putting memories in Breaths work. It does appear that putting memories in Breaths allows you constant access of them while holding them, unfortunately the only example of this we have is Hoid who isn't the best person to go off of as he's had millennia of experience and that might be a very advanced skill. Conversely, TLR was said to have a perfect memory himself. This might be related to the unknown effect of Compounding Copper, but it equally might have simply been a mastery of Copper Feruchemy to immediately pull any relevant information from his Copperminds so as to effectively have better memory. There are dangers to storing memories in Breaths vs Copperminds. First off, with Breaths being the power source for Awakening, if you for whatever reason absolutely need to Awaken there is the risk of needing to use your memory Breaths to have enough Breaths for whatever Awakening you need to do. I'm guessing if you are skilled enough to put memories in Breaths, you are also skilled enough to choose which Breaths you use like Vasher can which can help mitigate it. But an on the fly Command, and a need for a difficult Awakening always leaves the possibility you will need to use those Breaths. Another danger is that if the Awakener was attacked in a way that drains Investiture, they could lose the Breaths that hold their memories. This doesn't appear to be as much a risk for Copperminds unless the attack was specifically intended for the Copperminds. When Wax was hit with an area of effect Leeching in BoM he had his Steel reserves drained, but his Ironminds were fine. Considering all the other benefits of Breaths give you though, Breaths are probably superior. Though if Copper Compounders can duplicate memories as some theories expect, that would make Copper Compounders better for memory storage as they could keep backup stashes of memories, but that's just speculation.- 2 replies

I had specifically been thinking of the rate he devoured from the person holding him. My bad for not making that clear. Though now I wonder how full 100K Breaths would make Nightblood
-
All instances of Chromium we know about show it to be really fast, only a second for most Invested people and items. However, I agree that trying to drain 100K Breaths would be completely unfeasible unless they just sat there and let you do it. That's just so much Investiture. Even Nightblood probably would take a good several minutes to eat that much. Though, throwing Duralumin into the mix is an interesting idea

We actually don't know. All we know is that they kidnapped women with direct lines of descent from Spook. As Steris was their first target for kidnapping at the party it implies they either didn't care about Allomantic ability and just wanted people with strong bloodlines (giving credence to the breeding theory) or that they were kidnapping them to see if they did have Allomantic power for them to Spike.

We actually do know, it's 10 years. Part of a larger WoB

The Set would likely have to be at least several years old. Almost certainly too old for anyone we know from Stormlight to have organized. It would take years and years to set up an operation as deeply entrenched and influential as the Set is into Scadrian political structure. Suit spent a long time setting up to fake his death so he presumably he was already of decent status within the organization before he did that, and he himself was recruited by his niece who has an even higher rank than him so she was probably in the organization for a while before that. Maybe it would be possible if Wax and Wayne is at the very tail end of the time skip and Rosharan character somehow make very powerful and influential allies immediately after landing on Scadrial but that all seems like a stretch.

Based on Kelsier's perspective after he was a Shard and gained extra knowledge from it, he didn't seem to think there was a risk of moving to the Beyond unless he wanted to. The difference between Kelsier and other Shadows is that his very being was expanded and fundamentally altered by holding a Shard whereas beings like Heralds and Returned are just "normal" Shadows that have been gifted and sustained by a Shard.

Brandon has said parts of Voidbinding had been seen in the past but that it hasn't been explored properly. Presumably other weirdness like Renarin's visions have happened in the past. Possibly from different sources such as other Unmade and utilizing different Surges

Just a clarification, only the Central Dominance is explicitly described as having mild winters. Not the entire Final Empire

Hopefully Lost Metal will give us a better look at how Nicrosil Feruchemy works and make the answer to this question more clear

One important thing to know is that asexual does not mean aromantic. I think Jasnah does have legitimate feelings for Hoid. Even though she doesn't fully trust him, she does find him fascinating and a rare intellectual equal. It's what draws her to him. I do agree that she might not be entirely honest about her asexuality with him though considering her pov seemed to have him under that impression. As far as Hoid goes, I think it's a humanizing factor to his character. He doesn't need an ulterior motive. Perhaps he's simply lonely and found someone who intrigues him. With Hoid such things are hard to tell though

I've got to agree with Frustration here, Old Magic is some kind of power system even if it is more esoteric than Brandon's usual ones. They are tied together. Hemalurgy can steal Boons and Banes and even separate them from each other. Also, Voidbinding is explicitly mentioned to be a Cousin of Old Magic

I think part of their preference is not having to worry about the storing period of Gold which should be enough to give anyone pause before wanting it. As someone who spent a whole month sick recently with bronchitis, being sick sucks. A few sniffles here and there aren't bad, but I don't know how much Health someone could actually store up that way at least in a reasonable time frame. Then there are all the other benefits of having Stormlight in your system (boundless stamina, strength and speed boost, etc) that can look attractive even if you might be feeling a bit drained after. Personally, I'd probably still go with Gold myself. A huge part of that is for the way Gold healing can be controlled and moderated but not the only reason

Stormlight healing comes in specific levels of power whereas Gold Feruchemy is a spectrum. The weakest is holding an Honorblade, it can repair physical injuries but can't heal damage to the soul. Radiant healing is at least as good healing physical damage as having an Honorblade, plus can heal Spiritual damage. How well it heals Spiritual damage is up to debate, so I won't go too into that. The weakness is that there seems to be a set speed at which it can heal injuries, with Spiritual injuries taking even longer according to Kaladin. And then you have Regrowth. When healing others it is limited by both the user's and the patients perceptions, but when used on themselves it is the fastest and most powerful of the Stormlight healing methods. Adolin described Renarin as healing faster than is usual for a Radiant and he healed from what I would assume were staggering injuries of being crushed by a lot of rock. Gold on the other hand is entirely dependent on how much stored Health the Feruchemist has. How fast and complete the Gold healing is controlled by the user according to how much they have to spare. Sure you could increase the speed of the healing but the diminishing returns of Feruchemical compression mean you might run out of Health before you finish healing, or you can take it slow and heal from more extensive injuries. Now though, if you have a lot of Health to spare like Miles did with Compounding, or what was available in the Unkeyed Goldmind Wayne got in BoM the effectiveness and power of Gold Feruchemy exceed Radiant and possibly even Regrowth healing. Miles was healing injuries before the injuries fully even had time to happen. For example his legs healed before they even had time to finish breaking. Brandon typically describes healing Spiritual damage as creating a graft of Investiture leaving something akin to a scar, but has said that with enough stored Health, and self perception willing, could perfectly heal the Spiritweb. My opinion, at it's highest ends, Gold is at least as good if not outright better than even Regrowth, but the difficulties of having enough Health stored up to hit those levels means that in most practical situations Stormlight would be just as good or even better depending on the Radiant's Order

I agree pacing can sometimes feel like an issue with his books, but I can't understand the climactic magical fights one. That's almost every medium to high fantasy story ever that does those and at least to me they feel like big payouts. That's the point of the Cosmere he's working towards is a giant crossover. Not doing that would be like if Marvel tried doing their Cinematic Universe without tying the stories together and lacking references to each other. At some point he has to reference the the other worlds. He's creating a progressive and evolving narrative of the whole Cosmere and the characters are learning they are part of a much bigger world. That's fair

I don't think axial tilt was changed. The Central Dominance had mild winters and I believe the Terris Dominance was considered to be cold and wintery. Considering just how far north the Terris Dominance is from the Central Dominance and the nature of Scadrials Final Empire climate it would seem to make sense without any changes to axial tilt needing to be done

I've always viewed Endowment's Letter as her just being haughty and arrogant. Her future sight hasn't looked all that impressive to me and more just a shotgun approach and hope for the best. Nothing compared to the meticulous planning we've seen from Cultivation and Preservation in comparison. The only proof anyone can even attempt to point to that she planned Odium's death is that Nightblood was on Roshar. Which is equally possible to be a coincidence that Cultivation took advantage of rather than some ingenious plan to kill Odium. Endowment just doesn't strike me as a good planner. She makes tons of Returned that have no hope of ever fulfilling their reason for coming back, and with how things were only a hair's breadth from disaster in Warbreaker despite her not competing with another Shard. She's not incompetent as things did turn out for the better by the end of Warbreaker, such as Susebron's freedom, Siri and Vivenna becoming more true to themselves, and what will likely be reforms in how Hallandren governs all for example, but the things people latch onto that make so many think she is a genius with fantastic future sight is purely hypothetical based on association. I'll happily change my tune should we see a more concrete example of her planning (maybe if the Warbreaker sequel ever happens) but until that time I'm unimpressed, at least in comparison to the likes of what we know are top tier planners like Cultivation who still has one chekhov's gun that has yet to fire and Preservation who set things up so well that millennia after his "death" had everything going according to plan.

Probably, but if anyone has enough Investiture to overcome that it would be a Godking. It's an interesting thought experiment
